      @@icyrazor Both Subaru and Mio are from Kansai region. Subaru speaking normal Japanese most of the time with her accent slipped at random.
      If you watched Mio's stream, she usually speaks in light Kansai-ben such as using "uchi" instead of "watashi". She will use them more unconsciously if she's with Subaru or while playing horror games.

      @@infinich Mio is supposedly not from Kansai, she's from northern Kanto. There's a talk stream where she says she's from the northern provinces of Kanto, born and raised in 'mountain' countryside. Supposedly that's Gunma-ken, where mount Akagi is.
      It seems a lot of Japanese people can affect a kansai accent even if they're not from Kansai. It must be a common enough sound over there.

    You know, Subaru looking at the hostesses' dress made me realize that I surprisingly did pay that much attention to the women's outfits in the games. I've always been so focus on the story and the gameplay that any fanservice of that type goes ignored unless they brought explicit attention to it. Shows how good of a series the games are that they don't really need to bother about those kinds of things.
    Or, it could be that the men in the game are the TRUE fanservice. Much more likely.

      Listen to it enough and you'll notice how they use different words for certain things, like "se" instead of "so" and "ya" instead of "da". Also they emphasize different syllabes from the neutral accents. it kind of gives them a different rythm to their speech, if that makes sense.
      People say Korone's accent is unique, and it has a lot to do with that. She drags at weird parts of a sentence and sometimes skips entire syllabes (the famous Na -ru- ho -do- ne)

    • @thePyro77
      @thePyro77 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In formal japanese syllables (aka the Tokyo dialect, AKA the national japanese dialect) you end a sentence with either 'da' or 'desu'
      With Kansai dialect the sentences sometimes ends with 'ya', Subaru often slips even without realizing she's slipped her natural accents sometimes when she's too immersed in what she did she actually ends her sentences with a 'ya'
      Long time Subaru fans just rolls with it and only newcomers often points her accent's slipping, it's like you're supposed to speak formally until you sometimes slips into a southern accent drawls, which what Kansai-ben is all about, a typical southern accent stereotype.

      Probably because the dialect reveals where you're from.
      Even if we say Kansai dialect a ward, there are differences depending on the region, and some Japanese people recognize which dialect it is when they hear it(for example, Subaru's one is not from Osaka).
      Or maybe it's simply to avoid destroying the character.

      the division in japanese is by west and east eg western and eastern japanese (azuma is on the other side of the miya/capital forgot), particle like だ・じゃ・や。random free variation:四つ仮名/yotsugana. tsugaru is told to be the hardest i think the guy in flying witch talk in it. uchinaguchi/ryukyu-an is on a different branch of japonic, japanese kinda put it on the same place, unlike chinese which use topolect. Ainu is isolates but northern region probably trade words here and there. the most known example is from the title of the anime Golden Kamuy. Kamuy is also a word in Ainu, in Japanese, it's thought to be from kamu (apophonic combining/bound form of kami)+ (emphatic nominal particle) い/i
      ja/じゃis mostly western, ya of kansai diverges from edo period, yotsugana is in free variation the details are in wikipedia. shi stem of suru is common in standard japanese. sa- is common in kansai and also existed in some set phrases, se- (eg sezu-ni) is from classical japanese.
      in kiara region this distribution is probably akin to rhenish fan, i think this is called complementary distribution not sure either tho
