  • A 100 + Kilometre cycling circuit around the perimeter of “The Isle Of Wight” I’ve cycled clockwise and anti clockwise.. much of a muchness to be honest ...this time out anti-clockwise.. a great circuit for a training ride or even as a particular challenge depending on your own ability .. it’s undulating in places .. some would say hilly ..😁.. but nothing extreme.. the south side is more exposed and yes.. it can get windy... a really enjoyable circuit however.
I always tend to get the Ferry from Lymington as it’s a quieter location.. just £17.60 as a foot passenger at time of review and of course your bike is free.. leave your car in the Harbour Car Park .. cost me £8.80 for up to 16 hrs.. perfect.. pay easily via the Ringo Parking App.. or machines will take a card.. ( you can also catch a ferry to IOW via Portsmouth or Southampton)
If you’ve never cycled the IOW then get yourself on it.. if you’ve always wanted to complete a 100+ km circuit this could definitely be your bag

Planned my first circuit 12 Sept 2022. Will be 3 day Solo ride. No set date yet
Day 1 Heathrow to Portsmouth over to Ryde Travelodge
    Day 2 Ryde - O - Ryde, Travelodge again.
Day 3 - Ryde to Heathrow slightly different homeward route, catch a better tailwind from Droxford ( I hope )

That sounds good 👍 hopefully the weather will remain kind for you, and even if it’s changeable it all adds to the drama, keep safe & enjoy your adventure 🚴🚴💪

Jason Brooks Hi Jason 😀.. yes indeed good to chat to you.. and enjoy your cycling 🚴‍♀️.. if you opt for a circuit of the IOW you are sure to enjoy it.. as to going clockwise or anti-clockwise 🤔.. it’s all much of a muchness unless it’s particularly windy .. and then worth having the wind behind you as the south side you are very exposed👍- good health safe riding 🚴👍

Great video, really helpful. Planning on doing the loop next weekend and I was just wondering what the arrangements are for bike storage on the crossing? Basically I am wondering whether I should take my carbon bike or not?

Alex Brown Thanks 🙏 Alex 😀.. your bike will be fine am sure I’ve never had an issue & have been across on numerous occasions.. with both my Carbon & Aluminium bikes .. the bikes are placed either side of the Bow of the ferry ⛴.. I always hold back @ ensure a place with no other bikes I have managed 2 wedge it firmly against the side ensuring no marks to my bike /frame... sometimes I use a wheel Chock they have laying about to firm it against the side if it’s choppy 👍... I also use an item of clothing or microfibre cloth to protect any areas of contact where it rests .. never been a mark on the bikes 👍.. 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♂️.. have a great circuit.. Sandown & good half way point should you require some body fuel 👍 - safe cycling enjoy 😄
