- We finally got our 428's heads back from the machine shop and we got busy installing them. These are factory medium riser heads that came off our 1964 Galaxie's original 352 FE big block and should be a big improvement over the 428's tiny heads that were for low end torque. We also installed our Melling Performance camshaft that has .512/.512 lift, 218/218 duration, and 110* LSA.
Looks like it’s coming along nicely , can’t wait for the next video to see the next step !
Good morning and great day to you
thanks for watching.
Good video, subbed 🏁
Thanks for watching!
Very good motor, could not have went wrong. Do not red line it , stay within 500 under and only when needed and it will last longer than what you put it in.

It's always better to put cam in first. And have the engine upside down so you can watch it go in.
I should have, but I was undecided on the camshaft to use.
I don't believe it's recommended to reuse head bolts.
You definitely don't want to reuse torque to yield bolts on an engine. Many modern engines have these. Technically, reusing a bolt depends on how much stretch it has endured from being torqued before. Measuring bolt stretch requires special tools. On these old Ford engines, not using anything special in the way of gaskets or aftermarket heads, reusing the head bolts is fine.
