Great show! I really enjoyed Ronald Millar's 'Death of an Army: Siege of Kut' and AJ Barker's 'The Neglected War'. Battery Press reprinted the Official Histories a little while ago and you can still find them new, in plastic wrap. They're nicely bound and have plenty of big, juicy, pull out maps. Not cheap, but worth the price I think. I hope you've inspired more people to get into Mespot!
Many thanks, Death of an Army is still in my "too read" pile. I've got the Imperial War War versions of the Official Histories which sadly didn't have those lovely maps in 😢
Ken Another great Podcast really enjoyed it. Having spent 6 years in Iraq this period does interest me, just not sure how to game it Keep up the good work 😊
The If the Lord Spares Us rules are the only ones I know of specifically for the theatre. Work in any scale as well, I use 28s, they were designed for 15s and people use 10s with them as well 👍
Really enjoyed this conversation, the Great War in the Middle East is really interesting. The Turkish scholars as Nigel mentioned are definitely interested in the Great War, they publish a lot of studies and documents in Turkey.
Cheers, I have a few books from the Turkish perspective, I am interested if they look towards the Gallipoli Campaign first with the Mesopotamia Campaign a sideshow, as we do.
@@YarkshireGamer the historians in Turkey that work on the period that I know or know the works of tend to take a longer view of the war, for them they focus on the Balkan Wars in 1911-1913 to the creation of modern Turkey in 1923. Its a little different from the European perspective. Mesopotamia and the Arabia are important to them since its related to the change from a big empire to a Turkish state
Great episode, and great to here stuff on an front not often covered 👍.....did panic a little when you were talking about changes to the podcast as thought you were stopping it😮.....I'd never get any painting done 😅
Is there a SINGLE GUEST EVER that didnt get into it theough airfix! Its great: it just sounds like the same backstory for like 2/3rds of the guests: I imagine that the unpopularity of such toys today lay contribute significantly to the ageing of the hobby. Im luckey i found it.
A really good episode, highlighting a campaign that does not receive enough attention.
Many thanks John 👍

Cheers, hopefully I will be to get a Turkish perspective on the show in the future 👍
@@YarkshireGamerDo you have any book recommendations on the Turkish perspective of the Great War?
Gallipoli The Turkish Story, Palestine - The Ottoman Campaign, are the ones that spring to mind, I'd have to go looking in my stash for others

Cheers, I've got a bit of a second wind now, so lots more to come
I have 10mm Palestine/Mesopotamia. I just need to figure out some good scenarios and rules to use. Good podcast!
Try If the Lord Spares Us for rules and visit the Yarkshire Gamer Blog, loads of game write ups with maps and oobs there

Most of my guests have a similar back story which is why I limit it to 4 minutes !
