    I personally really like this scene and I totally get it why he kissed her like that - it is a forced kiss at first, but this is Wang So. His character is wild and full of passion and that's why I find him so interesting. He is also very lonely and hurt and the only person he trusts and loves is pushing him away. It's actually very sad if you look at this from his perspective... This kiss was an act of frustration and desperation and although she didn't like it at first, she ultimately stopped struggling, so I guess it wasn't that horrible to her. I am really rooting for them - go Wang So and Hae Soo!

    In that time which is the Goryeo era, it is normal for people with higher position like royals to possess things and people below them like court lady and servants. Of course that is not practiced & would already look different in our modern time. So it is understandable why Wang So acted that way and that is also how he express his love for Hae Soo. He also had asked his father the king for Hae Soo as his gift thus refusing those title and expensive property, so basically Hae Soo is already his person. It is also their custom to ask the king for permission like what happened to Wang Eun when Soon Deok’s father asked for their marriage. After this Wang So being a true gentleman promised he will ask for her permission which shows how greatly he respected Hae Soo. Love these two. 🥰💖💖💖

    I am not trying to justify this scene but I personally understand where he is coming from. This is not a 21st century guy but a prince who has emotional and physical scars alike. Abandoned at a young age, starved, locked up and left to fight wolves, his childhood was horrible. All his life he was called an animal and treated like one. Suddenly there comes this one person who accepts him as he is. He starts hoping for love and is brutally crushed by his mother's reaction. Hete soo repeats what he has heard all his life. That he is not worthy of love and he deserves to be alone.
    It is his desperation and heartbreak that made him do it. Yes it is toxic and it shouldn't have happened but I get where he is coming from. He immediately regrets it and waits for Soo to come to him even if it meant waiting for years.
    Not trying to justify, just saying that I can get where he is coming from. Peace✌️

    There are people judging and condemning his acts in this scene, but no one talks about how much she hurt him, and that it's out of frustration and desperation that he actually kissed her. Was it a right attitude? No, but no one is perfect, and Wang So certainly wasn't, as much as Hae Soo.

    I may be a few years late to most comments but I am disgusted by how people are justifying the kiss. Imagine if he was not good-looking? People would find it creepy. I've seen the drama, I know wang soo was/is (here) desperate for some genuine affection, however, that does not justify kissing someone who does not want to be kissed. Kissing is an intimate sexual action and although it may not be rape it should happen with consent... from both parties. It's like giving someone a cake but then that person does not want to eat the cake, you wouldn't force that person to eat the cake just because you've made it specifically for them - you would just accept that they don't want cake even if it hurts you. Consent. Wang soo won't feel better or turn her over because he kisses her forcefully, no one wins from that action. If a guy did that to me I'd run straight away. The man should respect the woman and vice versa.

    • @marcosviridianaful
      @marcosviridianaful 3 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      It's not justificación, more like understanding the character, WangSo is not precisely the typical good boy in a drama, he has traumas, he is wild, he wants to be loved, he's little toxic and he wants HaeSoo's love no matter what. The kiss scene happened because she rejected him and he feltd betrayed, it's not ok, but like I understand why this happen, even WangSo knows he did wrong but he doesn't want to apologize because that's the way he felt at that moment.

    • @camillaa_ek
      @camillaa_ek 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@marcosviridianaful You can understand why he forced himself upon her? I certainly can't. You write that he felt betrayed and that's why he kissed her and that you understand that? Imagine this scenario in the real world. If it was two people you've never seen before, would it still be okay or are you justifying it because you don't want to hold wangsoo accountable? You can like him as a character and still question his behaviour, like I am. What you are writing is basically "yes he did wrong, but..." the problem is that adding "but" makes all you said previously fall apart. He did wrong but it's understandable? Not in this circumstance. To kiss someone forcefully just because you're hurt is not acceptable ever! Very very hard for me to see how someone can understand why he did it? It's like saying rape is wrong BUT I understand why said person did it because the victim wore revealing clothes and that is inviting. Like no, if that is understandable then you are basically justifying it by making their motives reasonable... which they are not. And they're not reasonable in Wangsoo's case either. Once again, you can like hae soo and wangsoo together, that's fine, but you should also be open for questioning the parts that are problematic - because their relationship IS problematic at times. Like most kdrama couples.

    • @marcosviridianaful
      @marcosviridianaful 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @@camillaa_ek don't over think this, it's a drama, on top of that it's a fantasy/historial drama, such analisis correspond to real life, to real cases. What I said is that in this FICTION WangSo it's a character that can't be judge based on the social context of our days or the "healthy" things a real couple should have. I never said I like it or that it was fine for him to force her, what I said is that I understand why he did that, and I do. Wang So never opened up with someone, when he started to feel things for HaeSoo he got away from her, then HaeSoo helped him with the make up stuff, she was the first person that touch his scar. After such emotionally close experience (showing his scar, was like being naked for him), she pushed him away when he was in "pain" after his mother try to use him as a weapon, then the kiss happened as an emotional response from WangSo who felt betrayed by the only person he opened up with, it's not ok, it's not political correct. But why making such a fuss for an scene of some FICTION, when in the same FICTION there are extreme violence, murders, people that married their own family, toxic people, crazy people ... You know, it's a FICTION. The rape case it's another topic, same with the case of some stranger kissing you on the side walk, I have a different opinion on that and the fact that I understand WangSo and why this scene happened doesn't mean that I'm a woman that understand rapists, sex offenders, or men that forced things on women, for me there's a huge line between fiction and reality. If we are disgusted by toxic things that happens on fiction, I bet no drama or movie will come clean.

    • @camillaa_ek
      @camillaa_ek 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@marcosviridianaful I do see your point but usually when murders happen it's not justified in the movie, here the kiss is justified... she even falls in love with him. What kind of message does that send? Some people are really easily influenced by relationships shown in dramas and might think that wangsoo is being romantic...

    • @marcosviridianaful
      @marcosviridianaful 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@camillaa_ek I understand your struggles with the scene but as you said some people is usually easily influenced by abusive or toxic behavior portrayed in kdramas, it's sth that always happens, but I think even if the forced Kiss is "justified" it's clear that it was wrong, even WangSo "promissed" to not kiss her again without her consent, that became a joke between the couple. Yes, she felt in love with him, but that's three years after the incident, it's not correlated, the forced kiss and the deveploment of feelings for him.

It's a really complex character, with greys colours, some people might understand his behavior some others won't, some find romantic his intense way of love some other find it toxic, in the end it's a drama, on top of that is a historical drama (and we know how problematic some things were in the past).

      @@marcosviridianaful Thank you for your mature and nuanced response. I agree with the fact that the Goreyo dynasty wasn’t the most respectful towards women, so I guess it showed the sad reality of powerful princes and kings taking advantage of younger and vulnerable maids/women during that time. His character was very flawed but at least, Hae-Soo made him understand that consent is important throughout the episodes. The power dynamic and its contrast is definitely there here. By contrast, Mr.Sunshine showed a man in the lowest status of society in the Joseon era falling in love with a noble woman, the character being ruthless and feared just like Wang So is thus not as violent, because the female lead is a noble lady. What do you think of these consequential historical/social differences in these two dramas and relationships? It’s so interesting to compare different eras and see how much time and social class create consequences in the way women were treated, and how society evolved with the new manners.

    • @marcosviridianaful
      @marcosviridianaful 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@belle-ashton2167
      Well, I'm not an expert on the history of Korea, but I think the difference between WangSo and the male lead of Mr. Sunshine has nothing to do with their social status or their different historical period. Wangso is a prince, yes, but he was never treated as one, he was a young man who as a child was abandoned by his mother after she made that scar on his face, he became an object that was damaged and thrown away, he was a hostage with his other family, he wasn't treat as a human being at all, then he returned to the palace to find his place and nobody was really fond of his presence. The only person that treated him as a human being and give him "support" was HaeSoo, so she became everything to him and that's why he became obsessive with her, because he was a needy person. So as we saw in this scene, when she was ready to turn her back on him, he went on a desperation attitude to keep her with him. On the other hand, the male lead of Mr. sunshine, he was the lower class, his parents were killed, but he was adopted by a really good man, he returned to Joseon as the lider of the US army, he was already in a higher position and with many power on his own than for me it doesn't really matter that she was a higher class than him in Joseon, he is more mature (talking about age), he was raised with love so he wasn't looking to be loved or to be accepted like WangSo, so he felt in love in a more mature way. So yeah, different characters with different colours. If I have to compare WangSo with someone on Mr. sunshine is with the swordman. I think many people emphatize with WangSo and "understand" his behavior because he is not a privileged man, he is a broken man who had to fight to earn his place in royalty while his brothers had everything bought it, his life was not easy since his childhood, and even when he is not capable of loving HaeSoo in a mature way from the beginning, he changed his behavior for her.
      Yes, it's interesting to see how woman were treated in different historical set ups but I think to compare we have to look into many aspects. For me, every single period on Korean history is basically the same for women, they just had to marry. On Scarlet Heart there's not only that premise, but the fact that royalty is involved, women in the palace had to serve the royal family specially the king. HaeSoo was a modern girl who by time travel arrived to Goryeo and she was not used to that life style that's why she had many struggles and that's why in the end she didn't survive.

      They don't find it romantic. it's more like a step towards the kind of relationship that they want to see.

      Whether they like it or not, I can't do anything about it. it's up to them, but for me I just want this to be here so that when their relationship improve I can watch it go from bad to good. It's not always beautiful and satisfying.

      If you had more empathy and ability to look more inside people's psyche, you would understand his motives. He was rejected by people all his life, he was treated worse than a slave just because his awful mother wounded his face and he had to hide his scar all the time. Hae Soo promised him that she wouldn't push him away and he trusted her but then he heard from the only person he loves that he brings unluck. How much it must have hurt him? He's devastated and desperate. The reason of his all pain were the people who thought about him the same way like you do.

      Whether it's romantic or not its up to the person that's watching and their own opinion. And I don't think the background song is actually ok.

      People's minds are really washed out with fake political correctness.. But how selfish person that doesn't know what rejection means can understand it.
