Wow Thanks for the Review Based on your description , The Soft Ears Volume S sounds great with OPERA MUSIC. As always you did a good job on this ..GREAT Review
Yoo, have you checked out ducbloke and his tuning profiles for various IEMs? Tried a couple EQ profiles for some of the IEMs like the mega 5 and the tuning blows almost everything else I own out of the water, incredibly impressive.
I have never seen a bad tuned iems from Softears. They really know what they are doing. But seriously bro, you really need drop a link to your wardrobe, always looking dope!
i was looking to put the Wu Zetian Legend on my 2025 planar-magnetic bucket list, but when you mentioned "spicy", i think i'ma continue to hold out and see what else 2025 will bring with planar-magnetics. Thanks for the heads up, Jay ❤👍
Man, very disappointing news for me since I was hoping to get the Wu Zetian Legend as my vocal planar set that complements my Tea Pros. I love the look of the Zetians and the Metal shells are also a big factor for my preference, but the tuning is not what I was hoping for at all
Impedance adapters might just do the trick with Legend, since it's multi-driver. These often get affected a lot by extra impedance. Dunu "Braindamage" gets noticeably better with its microplanars as a good example of this.
I enjoy well implemented treble. I think the EPZ Q1 Pro does a great job on its treble implementation. Some sets are just painful to listen to but that is completely subjective. I am definitely sensitive to shout and find that it bothers me more than bright treble. The simple solution is to just listen at lower volumes but why bother when you can buy sets that don’t limit you to strictly low volumes? I typically listen at around 50db or slightly lower but I occasionally go a little higher for short periods. Great video! You bring out great points that make people think 🤔
Damn, was considering the Legend & now your review has given my mind a serious case of "...but I can fix her..." Also, entirely unrelated but your shirt is making you look like the next Ziigaat Collaboration. lol
Hi Jay thanks for the review! Does volume S have more forward female vocal than studio 4? Cause i love forward and not too thick female vocals. So between those two which one you think more suitable to my liking? Thanks!🎉
I want to buy headphones under $150. I am considering letshuoer s12 2024 and simgot supermix 4. Can you tell me your opinion? I mainly listen to pop, electronic music and hip-pop. Also need good bass
I have the s12 and like it but it doesn’t have the most bass for hip hop… maybe look at the s12 pro with higher bass. But in all honesty my blon bl03 are great for hip hop especially if you use some nice foam tips to really seal in that bass, I heard they have a new version so maybe look at that. I don’t have the supermix 4 but I also doubt that’s a set you can turn up the volume on pop and hip hop especially if you don’t like treble peaks. I also heard the AFUL explorer is a decent Iem if you like to turn up the volume. At the end of the day the blon bl03 is like $30 and maybe you can buy both the old and new for two different types of sound. I personally like the celest wayvern for all types of music and it’s very cheap and I love the tuning. Slightly less bass but nice dynamic sound in general.
I was curious how "good" the Legend can be after 10-band eq-ing, hopped on squig and holy moly, with 4 treble sliders it can be amazingly smooth (if measurements are correct). Also Tang Sancai wide bores have a lot of sparkle imo.
It's hard for me to explore or get interested in other/new IEM releases since I'm already spoiled and still in love with my Odyssey. It’s my first time spending quite a lot on an IEM, but it was worth every penny. 🔥 Especially considering that I’m an EQ enthusiast, the Odyssey is probably the only IEM I use without EQ. 🖤
There's a good amount to like about the Volume S... but when I see its bass vs the explorer, I feel I'd be missing something for a lot of my library as a shuffler.
Great job Jay! Can you help me decide? I really like the Letshuoer S08 but would like a planar with a little more vocal presence. Which would fit this description better, the Artti T10 Pro or the Simgot ET142 with red nozzles? Thanks.
@@jayyaudio What a surprise! For some reason I thought you would rather recommend the T10 Pro... Well, I hope Simgot won't delay the launch of the ET142 too much (and won't mess things up with another nozzle reconfiguration). Thanks for your wisdom.
hi jays , How about volume S compare to RSV on the vocal section. Are they much difference? Didn't have a chance to try it yet but i'm kind of a bit interesting on this set.
Great vids. Hashtag I hate treble. That legend is not for me 😅😅 The treble in Kefine Klean my only limit when it comes to treble. Any higher than the klean will surely hurt my ears and might affect my hearing. Good stuff Jay🖤
@@mirzaamane4548 mk2 is honestly more interesting than mk3, thanks to its god-tier mids and vocals. It does have slightly less of everything else, but given the sheer quality of mids, it's very much forgivable (and, imo, preferable). By far the biggest issue with it is the shell shape, which was fixed in mk3. A lot of people complained and got refunds just for the shell alone. As for the other options in that price range, I can suggest Softears Twilight (the absolute best 1DD, period. So good, in fact, that you likely won't believe it is one) and ISN EBC80.
“I dont know what they are feeding their BAs” 😂 this makes me laugh everytime! So Jay I just ordered the Hiby R4 Evangelion ed. Im so excited to get a dedicated music player. Too bad BrainDamage is so bad, it would look so cool paired with my Hiby
@@jayyaudioso I’ve been going through your library looking at sets with planar. No matter how much I try to stay away from Brain Damage it looks so cool to me. 😂 You think I should just go with your heavily recommended super-mix 4 to compliment my Dos Cinco?
I love bass and bought a Deuce. It does make your heart thump faster in certain genres, but I was deeply disappointed in how it bloats the music. I thought Fatfreq had figured that out. Any alternatives to get me to that state where you still get mighty bass but not at the expense of bloating, or is this wishful thinking?
Man 2 out of 2 reviews says it's treble boosted set. Tangzu is going the opposite way from other brands. Everyone is going treble ->neutral or warm but tangzu is going Warm -> treble madness from generation to generation.
Was just informed the USBC connector is sold separately, and also, SIMGOT will be including all 4 nozzles on the new ET142 :)
Dope sweater.
Oh yeah thanks for your takes and comparisons!
Appreciate it!
Well done Jay, thanks for the reviews!
Np!

Just followed him what a nice guy
EQ is the Future dont buy stuff for 2k thats Not your perfect EQ
The 142 looks interesting, but I think I am in a good place for now on planar sets.
Really looking forward to simgot’s improved planar iem ET142, and other new products also make me eager to try
Waiting to see what will dethrone the RSV for vocals for you tbh. Saving up til then, I have faith it'll happen this year :)
I have never seen a bad tuned iems from Softears. They really know what they are doing.

Thanks bro ✨
Would be dope if you were to measure IEMs with the 30ohm impedance adapter to see which IEMs get their tuning altered from the adapter.
Nicely Done.
Great review as usual. Even if i got the S4 I might still get the Volume S. I would love a slightly bassier but vented Studio 4.
Vocals are 👌

Thanks for the review Jay! Quite frustrating the Zetian, I had high hopes for it but for sure it's not for me! I'm toward the Timeless II now...
It's a shame, but it's not for everyone
How would the volume s compare to the tea pro/hype 4? Currently deciding between them. Such a competitive range these days!
if you want bass teapro/hype4, if you want vocals and everything else mentioned in the video Vol S
There's a good amount to like about the Volume S... but when I see its bass vs the explorer, I feel I'd be missing something for a lot of my library as a shuffler.
Bass is there, just not meaty
welp, glad I didn't blind buy. I dont mind treble, but these also seem a bit too lean for my taste. the volume S seems like it'd be worth it on sale

The marketing says it uses BAs from 2 known sets that use Knowles BAs. If you ask me, even if they modded it, it's still Knowles
Does Impedance adapter work for the tangzu to make it better by boosting bass?
Nah the treble is still a bit much, maybe with EQ
@jayyaudio thanks, I really hoped it can be helped like the case with the brain dance without EQ and just an adapter :(
It's not a passive radiator, its a pressure relief. Imagine it like a front vent that isnt a vent.
Marketing goes crazy

S12 2024 maybe
Hello Jay.
Would the volume S be a good set for movie/game soundtracks??
If no then what would be your pick?
Nah it's more of a vocal set, movie wise Hype 4, Tea Pro, Estrella
Hello Jay, would you say the that the Studio 4 is more organic sounding than the Volume S?
about the same, Volume S better for vocals
@ which of the two would you recommend as a neutral set that ticks more boxes? Thanks
How is this against Vocals from the Oracle mk1? Which IS better can Oracle mk1 be still great in 2024?
This is better for scaling/higher volume, Oracle mK1 is better mid volume
@jayyaudio which Sounds fuller has better mids? If both dont have that than its good too. Already got the Variations for clear clean Sounding.

Yes
