  • Cheating has no place in the NHl. Yet, here we are. Every NHL team, even the Seattle one has cheated, and today you're going to learn all about those nefarious incidents. Let's do it.

      Chase O'Hern
      They also intentionally sent down their starting goalie because he was winning too many games and tried to trade their best goal scorer, who, unbelievably enough, scored 50 goals in 1985 even though the entire team was tanking. Hell, the GM even went inside the Penguins locker room after the 1st period of a game against the Rangers where they were up 3-1. After his “motivating” speech, the Pens lost 6-3. Coincidence? I think not.

    • @treymagathan847
      @treymagathan847 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Creighton Rabs
      The main difference between Philly and Pittsburgh is that the current form of tanking isn’t a guarantee to get the 1st overall pick, especially in the NBA where the projected team to get the first overall pick can slide down to 14th if the odds are that brutal. In 1985 NHL, if you finished last in the league, you were guaranteed the 1st overall pick no matter what, just like the NFL. And unlike the NBA, NHL lottery teams have projection protections where most a lottery team can slide down is three spots from their projections. We saw this this with Colorado twice in a row, where they placed 4th in the draft lottery after tanking in 2017, and once again after stealing Ottawa’s pick for Matt Duchene.

    A better cheating moment for the Penguins was in a 2010 game vs the Flyers: A Penguins TV producer intentionally did not show the conclusive angle of a goal crossing the line for a Flyers goal until the goal was waved off. The Red Wings also did tremendous questionable activities to get Sergei Fedorov, Vladimir Konstantinov, and Slava Kozlov from the Soviets, and New Jersey and Vancouver did a lot to get Slava Fetisov and Igor Larionov, respectively! The Russian Five by Keith Gave (a key player in the Wings' plots) describes sneaking them out of hotels after games in FInland and the US, supplying Russian contacts with bribe money with no questions asked, and even providing Soviet military and civilian doctors with new cars in order to declare Slava Kozlov's career over after a car crash and release him from his military obligations! It's a tremendous book. The author was chosen by the President of the Wings personally to go contact Fedorov and Konstantinov in Finland because "you're the only guy I know who speaks Russian," having served in West Berlin as a Russian linguist with the US military in the 70s!

Someone should have fought Moore in Vancouver at the start of the game and settled it,not being passive-agressive cowards,waiting for the opportunity to assault a vulnerable player. If Moore was ducking out,then one hard hit would've sent a message (and if not on Moore,hitting a star player on the Avs,which would have forced Moore to fight)not ending someone's career. As a huge fan of the game, I love to see you do hockey videos. As a Senators fan, I never thought in a million years I would see that Spezza reference in any of your videos haha. That thing was hilarious. Dude lines up for the face off, hears players on the other team questioning his curve so he backs up and stomps on the blade of his sticking breaking it and tries to hand it off to the trainer for a new one like it’s no big deal. While the ref is like “Nah nah nah, not gonna happen” 🤣 also #Melnykout

    IMHO, the Gretzky trade in 1988 was a win-win for both the Kings and the Oilers as well as the league in general. Gretzky turned the Kings into the hottest ticket in Los Angeles and in 1990, the Oilers proved they could win a Stanley Cup without Gretzky. Plus, thanks to Gretzky's presence in Los Angeles, the NHL added or relocated teams in San Jose, Anaheim, Tampa Bay, Miami, Dallas, Phoenix, Raleigh, Nashville and Vegas. (Although the NHL added a team in Atlanta, they relocated to Winnipeg.)

    Funny think about the sharks one is that was the final game of the season, they beat the kings which made the kings the 8th seed in 2012. Why is that funny? Because the kings ended up playing the president trophy winners and let’s just say the momentum carried them to the CUP. I could not be happier that the sharks got away with that and won that game. For the Penguins: in the last minute of a 6-6 game against Hartford in December 1993, Jaromir Jagr gets popped for an illegal stick by Whalers coach Pierre McGuire; not only do the Whalers fail to score on the power play, but the moment Jagr gets out of the box he gets sprung on a breakaway and scores the OT winner. At the time Jagr called it the biggest goal of his life because he "humbled that know-it-all" McGuire.
