on the nose about lack of admin control in browser. They do this in an attempt to prevent enterprise level use at the cost.. @TP-Link, you aren't going to stop anyone in the enterprise field with this access limitation; I can off the top of my head think of several wrap arounds for things like RDP to the system like you're trying to stop with the mobile app. For instance to the everyday man.. just use an android emulator which they can't detect, and this gives you a sandbox to access the device to configure via your system or remotely via RDP.
I have a 2 story home and decided to give this one a try. Easy set up, expandable and user friendly. More importantly no dead zones/buffering now when I stream. At this price point it’s a SOLID set up. Highly recommend Deco.
My ISP just sent me two of these TP-Link Deco M5, it's so easy to setup and very convenient. Very neat and now my whole apartment is now covered and no dead zones.
Never had an issue with my M9 - I don’t use them as routers, more as AP - then do your managment via a more suitable router - I have had issues using Pi-hole with them but never a crash.
Have you realized yet that the Deco 5 has no option for Backing Up your settings once you have everything set as you'd like it? Ultimately, I switched my 3 node M5 system to Access Point mode and use pfSense as my router. mode
I had a Netgear Powerline AV500 that I used for a couple of years to get internet to part of my house, but the mesh solutions seem to work better for me since the wiring in my house is kinda weird.
I have the deco m5 mesh on my setup, I also have a wired backhaul setup between all 3 units which increases your wireless bandwidth because you devices only connect wirelessly to the closest unit then use the wired backhaul to the main unit/internet.
can i connect these mesh with ethernet cable ? or it's only by wifi , i have 3 cable ethernet , and no wifi in my routeur , i want just have a '' mesh wifi '' and roaming function , can i connect the 3 module mesh with cable eathernet ? or it's just 1 node + 2 wifi module ? i don't want 3 module are connected to router by wifi , but by cable , is possible ?
u connect each unit to a switch with 3 ethernet cable ? , i want do that , does it possible or not ? i have 1 router , + 1 switch 8 port , i want connect each unit with cable , and i want no dhcp , just acces point
Unfortunate you didn't show any internal speeds. I'd hope to think the system can do better than 185Mbps and was limited by your internet connection and the process you used to perform your speed tests.
I want to increase coverage around my house. If I get 3 units, is it best to have one connected with the router with ethernet cable, while the other 2 connects to that via wifi? Or is it ok to connect all 3 with the router via wifi?
In the router mode of the mesh (the one where the mesh is wirelessly connected to the router), is it possibile if I’ll connect an ethernet cable to the mesh and connect it into my PC? Thanks!
Help please.. so my issue is I have alot of devices that connect to wifi. Switches, plugs, washer, dryer, thermostat, phones etc... It's really slowing down and not letting some connect. I have 2 extenders In the house still having trouble. Would this fix my issues?
I have ethernet ports in most of my rooms, am I able to plug each of these M5's into those ports? Or I can only connect one to the ports and the other one has to connect to it through Wifi, which may occupy some bandwidth itself?
Would it be safe to have these in bedrooms?, I have new 250mb broadband but the kids bedrooms in the front of the house are now dead spots but I dont want to have these beside the kids sleeping if it's not safe, thanks 😊
Everything I've been able to find has said that WiFi is not dangerous. But...as a parent, only you can decide what you're willing to chance, and if you don't like the idea of your kids sleeping near them......you'd probably always have a little doubt in your mind about it....so, I would see if there's another spot that gives you good reception, but far enough away from the kids to satisfy your protective parental instinct. ;-)

@@DBTechYT they need a node ? or each unit can be '' the node '' , actually i want just make a big lan , i have 1 router , and this will not connected to internet , i want just make a mesh wifi but offline ( bcuz i build piratebox ) and i want connect my piratebox to mesh wifi for extand the area coverage . does is can work without internet ? ( i know that setup need internet ) but i want setup them and then put them in my lan network without internet ( just a router ) for the ip , and then they can act as acces point but with function mesh ( roaming function is just what need in fact , and 1 wifi ssid only for all units ) if possible connected to router by ethernet each unit
@@DBTechYT i want ethernet backhaul , 3 unit connected to my switch 8 port , my swith in my router ( offline router no internet ) and i want my client can walk between the unit without be assle by wifi name or deconnection ( roaming between the units )
These speeds are pretty mediocre, even for a budget option like the M5. The device is advertised as 867MBPS on 5ghz. Now i'm not expecting it to hit 867MBPS but surely it should be able to at least hit *half* of that in a best case situation (same room as M5). I'm going to try and return my M5.
i may be wrong but i think the speed test is dependant on your internet, even if the router can reach 800mbps and your ISP gives you 100mbps, u will never surpass what your ISP gives just because your router supports higher speeds.
Has the controlpanel been updated (fixed) since? I really wanna buy this thing but disabling administration on desktop is absolute insanity, what if there's something wrong with the wifi and you can only connect via cable? How the hell are you supposed to regain access? I really want to get this thing but that to be is an absolute no-no
You can update the database. I had just done a factory reset on the system to get it setup to record some stuff for the video. Just hadn't updated the virus definition database yet. Good catch!

Can I use Poe injector and splitter to power the deco?

I have bought today tp-link powerline kit. 1300. It Runs Superfast.

DB Tech than mesh is a good Solution. My wiring in the House is good. Therefore Power is more stabile as wlan.

I'd like to do that just for the perfect wireless setup. I've still got 3 systems to test and do videos about
This is my current setup but I still experience latency issues while gaming on a 100mbps internet.

@@pochul yes. Iwant to do this. Is possible? Anyone get the answer?
Do you need to be connected to the mesh network to manage it using the app or not? Thanks
Hi. Can I hardwire a docking station into these? My job requires hard wire connection.
These should have two Ethernet ports on them.
Thanks for the review - really great that you went in-depth with the user interface so it's clear what the system can do.
I'd love to see you setup vlans for the deco system. I've been trying to get into it for a while
Unfortunate you didn't show any internal speeds. I'd hope to think the system can do better than 185Mbps and was limited by your internet connection and the process you used to perform your speed tests.
So just wondering so a mesh system is a secondary router so you should get the same speed as the home one
thank you for the info I got a question tho. if used as access point can you still use the anti virus feature?
if you mean, "when using them in bridge mode," I don't think you can.
Will I need to disable the SSID on my router so it won't interfere with this?
please review the new firmware of deco m5 1.6 which allow the node to choose the signal source.
Would this work with Quest 2 Wireless PCVR
Was your internet speed test from the tp-link unit? What speeds do you get to connected wireless devices?
I literally show it in the video.

How's gaming on this? Any packet loss or spikes?
Honestly I don't any online gaming, but you're always going to run the risk of packet loss and the like on a wireless connection.
Good product, but lacks the feature to turn off DHCP
use acces point , no routeur mode
