Als koreaner sehe ich dieses Video. Das war für mich total interesannt. Und ich bin überrascht dass er Deutsch flüssig sprechen kann, obwohl er in Deutschland nur 8 Monaten gelebt hat. Ich bin respecktvoll von ihm.
Als japanischer Deutscher freue ich mich, diese beiden Länder meine Heimat nennen zu dürfen. Traurig zu denken, dass ich eine Nationalität aufgeben muss, wenn ich 18 werde 😥
Ich bin begeistert dass die Leute in Berlin(die auf der Straße von euch gefragt wurden) so viele Ahnungen über Japan haben, die sogar stimmen! Ich bin auch Japanerin und wohne seit 9Monate in einer Stadt, wo in Süddeutschland liegt. Die meisten Leute hier in Süddeutschland können Japan und China gar nicht unterscheiden und manche denken sogar, alle asiatischen Länder sind fast gleich so wie Entwicklungs- oder Bildungsniveau usw. Deshalb bin ich froh dass die In Video gefragten Deutsche über mein Heimatland richtig informiert sind.
Die Umfrage wurde in Berlin gemacht, einer Großstadt mit vielen jungen Leuten. Vielleicht interessieren sie sich mehr für das entfernte Ausland als Menschen in Süddeutschland oder dem Land.

Ich freu mich drüber, dass ihr endlich Japan besucht!! Ich war bis Februar in Berlin und ich bin schon lange euer Fan.. In Tokio ist es schon sehr heiß und in den Bahnhöfen sind verrückt viele Menschen Ich persönlich glaub, der Charakter von Deutschen ist relativ ähnlich zu dem von Japanern.
*Das glaube ich auch, alleine schon weil die Japaner Ritter (Samurais) hatten, genau wie die Deutschen, die nach einem Ehrenkodex lebten, beide Länder hatten und haben Bauern, die in der Geschichte ein wichtige Rolle spielten, beide Länder sind sehr fleißig und qualitätsbewusst und haben sogar ein ähnliches Klima, auch die Esskultur ist in beiden Ländern sehr ausgeprägt und nicht zu vergessen haben beide Länder eine ausdrucksstarke Sprache ;)* *Und wenn der Trend anhält, dann werden in Deutschland bald genau so viele Mangas gelesen wie in Japan, Wahnsinn wie viel jetzt schon in Deutschland von den Mangas gelesen wird, im vergleich zu vor 10 Jahren ;)*
Nein, eher nicht. Das ist viel Glorofizierung aus der Geschichte. Z.B. sind Deutsche sehr direkt wohingegen Japaner sehr zurückgenommen sind. Die Esskultur ist auch sehr unerschiedlich. In Japan mehr Fisch und Gemüse in Deutschland viel Getreide(Brot) und relativ viel Fleisch,...etc. Schweiz oder England passt eigentlich mehr.
@@Christof_Classen Was hat die frühe Vergangenheit denn bitte noch mit der heutigen Kultur zu tun? Heute sind wir multikulturell, man erkennt so gut wie nichts mehr aus der Vergangenheit. Und Japan ist sowieso nicht mit uns zu vergleichen. Strengere Höflichkeit, Traditionsbewusstsein, komplett unterschiedliche Sprache, anderes Essen, andere Häuser, einfach alles ist anders, erst recht der Charakter.
@@Tomschu Inpunkto Jugendkulturvorbilder vielleicht und weil natürlich der ganze technische Input aus den USA kommt, aber die Mentalität der buddhistisch geprägten Länder und ganz besonders Japans als Inselstaat ist nach wie vor sehr konträr zum Westen und besonders gegenüber germanischer und skandinavischer Kultur und Mentalität die unabhängig von Gesellschaftform durch die Jahrhunderte sehr direkt ist während dort nach wie vor das Credo im gelebten Alltag höflche Indirektheit ist. Gerade Japan läßt sich im Vergleich zu Festland Asien bewusst noch weniger von Außen beeinflussen - zum positiven wie zum negativen - besonders im Vergleich zu Korea.
I wanted to travel to Japan this year together with 3 friends. Sadly something prevented us from it but we are planning it for next year now. There are some really great channels on youtube to "prepare" for a trip to Japan. I recommend "Ask Japanese" and "Rachel&Yun".

this is interesting, because, as a German that has lived outside of Germany for over thirty years, I often say to people that Japan is the Germany of Asia or visa versa. A formal, industrious and polite society with Etiquette. Clean, efficient and reliable. Berlin off course has a culture of its own, but generally its true.
Traditional moral values, strict work ethic, and absolute devotion for one's nation are something that in my head always makes Japan and Germany my two favorite countries. But I have to say that in recent times, Japan has been winning my heart by being the cleaner and more organized country of the two. You can tell by looking at the streets and how people react towards lettering for example.
Japan has liberated Korea and Taiwan from China which was trying to barbarizing them. When I talked to some German people, they usually ask me about declining population, and unproductive life style or something but I'm pleased to hear this interview lol

I do agree partially. I'm German and I can say that most Germans know little about japan but a lot like the country and culture (very polite/clean/advanced technology). Some of the negative points that people raise would be the Suicide rates/labor abuse and the strict society as far as I heard. I heard more than once from other Germans that they would want to visit it but don't want to live/work there. Other than that most of us have a good image of Japan and we know to differentiate between Japan/Korea/China unlike other countries I have been to where they think that all asians are Chinese.
At the beginning my thoughts exactly, then after watching several videos on different channels I changed the idea of wanting to live there... Still for me Europe is the best place to live for the moment!!! ;) and proud to be european!!! But I still want to learn japanese, anyway , get informed!!!

Genau, das sind kleinere, doch sehr schöne Städte! Auf jedenfall eine Reise wert. Nur Tokyo allein würde ich nicht machen! Dafür hat Japan noch viel zu viel anderes zu bieten :)
Hall Cari, wieder einmal ein interessantes Video. Vielen Dank dafür! Ich war noch nie in Japan, kenne aber einige Japaner durch berufliche Kontakte und kann die positiven Eindrücke aus dem Video nur bestätigen. Komisch ist aber, was mir spontan zu Japan eingefallen ist: das sind diese Hitech-Toiletten mit integriertem Wasserstrahl und warmem Gebläse, die sogar Geräusche machen damit man selbst (und andere Leute) die eigenen Geräusche beim Toilettengang nicht so gut hören kann. Das ist für Deutsche schon sehr ungewohnt und manchmal schwierig zu bedienen wenn die Bedienungsknöpfe nur auf Japanisch beschriftet sind. Viel Spaß auf der Reise!
Germans and Japanese culture stand out from most other cultures because they are the likely closest definition of rational collectivism with the idea we don't depend on others so emotionally like our families but we do very in fact much for technical reasons in communities like work . We need people to be toghether. Not because we just love them. This is why work ethic is so solid in these countries. Unlike the stereotypical west (Anglosphere like USA and UK) that is rational but very individualist to life, or the Latin European (french Italian Spanish /American , Asian, slavic and African cultures that value more strong loyalty and obedience inside families but along with strong emotional dependency. Germany is obviously less collectivist than most countries in the world , but Germans in comparison to other European countries is rather the closest definition of Japan on this factor.
I hope the reason why they didn't point out any negatives is the reason being a Japanese person being present while interviewing. I am Japanese and I really love Germany. I am learning German but learning a new language is never easy. Took me 8~9 years to be able to speak English fluently.
No, look up the same series about e.g. americans, they got trampled into the ground by negative stereotypes. We germans are honest to a fault. Here it is seen as misleading and insulting to sugarcoat things and you usually can take what a german says as their honest, unfiltered opinion. Turns out we actually just really like you japanese ^^
No, I just think they don't know enough about Japan. But the only thing negative I know is the culture of overworking, and the social problems leading to lack of children. I really hp[e both are solved ASAP as I believe a world without Japan would be very very sad.

@@Rachelism you don't get it. I remember that when i was in the vatican, i had some leisure time and started to do the most favourite pastime of all germans: starring at people. After some time i noticed this east asian group entering the square. They went directly in front of st.peters cathedral, posed for a picture and then continued to leave the square as directly as possible. Not a single one, but the photographer, actually saw the cathedral!! Not one turned around to look at it! They now have a picture of themselves in front of a magnificently beautiful building, which they have never seen with their own eyes, despite standing exactly in front of it!!
Wahrscheinlich habe ich auch über 200 Episode geguckt haha Ich bin in Japan dreimal gewesen und überraschend sind eigene Eingeschaften dieses Lands, z.B. die Straßen sieht extrem sauber aus, die Leute sind sehr sehr höflich und wenn man - wie ich - die Zugfahren liebt, ist Japan ein echtes Paradies.
Komisch ich fand Tokyo jedenfalls nicht so sauber. Da war ich enttäuscht. Liegt vllt auch daran, dass die ganzen Mülleimer abgebaut wurden. Für andere Städte gebe ich dir recht.
@@knabbagluon Die Mülleimer wurden, soweit ich weiß, wegen Brandgefahr/ Brandanschlägen abgebaut. Und ich habe schon öfter gehört, dass man Toukyou nicht mit dem Rest von Japan vergleichen kann. Wenn man Japan sehen will, sollte man wohl lieber in kleine Städte reisen.

I associate Japan with both positive and negative things. Let's start with the negative, the bad relationship with China is an issue in itself. a Chinese friend of mine he went to school in Nanjing and has an abysmal hatred of the Japanese. I find Japanese history interesting, especially tokugawa ieyasu, who unified Japan in the Middle Ages and is one of the most interesting figures in Japanese history.

Die umgekehrte Aussage (also falls er gesagt hätte, dass deutsche höflicher als Japaner sind) hätte man in Deutschland aus Höflichkeit abgestritten. Ich liebe es wenn im Sommer immer die Touristen bei uns sind. Vor allem haben wir wahnsinnig viele Japaner immer bei uns. Ich wohne grade mal 15 Minuten vom Strand entfernt, da kann man immer so herrlich die ganzen Kulturen sehen wenn wieder Urlaubszeit ist.
Ja, ich hoffe, dass ich meiner fünfjährigen Tochter eines Tages mal Japan zeigen kann. Sie guckt immer gerne auf TH-cam ganz viel über Japan und ist dann immer total beeindruckt. Wer weiß? Irgendwann bin ich bestimmt wieder mal dort. Ich liebe einfach dieses Land. Das Erste, was ich meiner Kleinen zeigen will, wird die Statue von Hachiko sein. Und die Tempel. Davon ist sie immer ganz fasziniert, sieht sie diese wunderschönen Bauten.

Ich bin begeistert dass die Leute in Berlin(die auf der Straße von euch gefragt wurden) so viele Ahnungen über Japan haben, die sogar stimmen! Ich bin auch Japanerin und wohne seit 9Monate in einer Stadt, wo in Süddeutschland liegt. Die meisten Leute hier in Süddeutschland können Japan und China gar nicht unterscheiden und manche denken sogar, alle asiatischen Länder sind fast gleich so wie Entwicklungs- oder Bildungsniveau usw. Deshalb bin ich froh dass die In Video gefragten Deutsche über mein Heimatland richtig informiert sind.

Ich persönlich glaub, der Charakter von Deutschen ist relativ ähnlich zu dem von Japanern.
*Das glaube ich auch, alleine schon weil die Japaner Ritter (Samurais) hatten, genau wie die Deutschen, die nach einem Ehrenkodex lebten, beide Länder hatten und haben Bauern, die in der Geschichte ein wichtige Rolle spielten, beide Länder sind sehr fleißig und qualitätsbewusst und haben sogar ein ähnliches Klima, auch die Esskultur ist in beiden Ländern sehr ausgeprägt und nicht zu vergessen haben beide Länder eine ausdrucksstarke Sprache ;)*
*Und wenn der Trend anhält, dann werden in Deutschland bald genau so viele Mangas gelesen wie in Japan, Wahnsinn wie viel jetzt schon in Deutschland von den Mangas gelesen wird, im vergleich zu vor 10 Jahren ;)*

Nein, eher nicht. Das ist viel Glorofizierung aus der Geschichte. Z.B. sind Deutsche sehr direkt wohingegen Japaner sehr zurückgenommen sind. Die Esskultur ist auch sehr unerschiedlich. In Japan mehr Fisch und Gemüse in Deutschland viel Getreide(Brot) und relativ viel Fleisch,...etc.
Schweiz oder England passt eigentlich mehr.
@@Christof_Classen Was hat die frühe Vergangenheit denn bitte noch mit der heutigen Kultur zu tun? Heute sind wir multikulturell, man erkennt so gut wie nichts mehr aus der Vergangenheit. Und Japan ist sowieso nicht mit uns zu vergleichen. Strengere Höflichkeit, Traditionsbewusstsein, komplett unterschiedliche Sprache, anderes Essen, andere Häuser, einfach alles ist anders, erst recht der Charakter.
@@Tomschu Inpunkto Jugendkulturvorbilder vielleicht und weil natürlich der ganze technische Input aus den USA kommt, aber die Mentalität der buddhistisch geprägten Länder und ganz besonders Japans als Inselstaat ist nach wie vor sehr konträr zum Westen und besonders gegenüber germanischer und skandinavischer Kultur und Mentalität die unabhängig von Gesellschaftform durch die Jahrhunderte sehr direkt ist während dort nach wie vor das Credo im gelebten Alltag höflche Indirektheit ist. Gerade Japan läßt sich im Vergleich zu Festland Asien bewusst noch weniger von Außen beeinflussen - zum positiven wie zum negativen - besonders im Vergleich zu Korea.

this is interesting, because, as a German that has lived outside of Germany for over thirty years, I often say to people that Japan is the Germany of Asia or visa versa. A formal, industrious and polite society with Etiquette. Clean, efficient and reliable. Berlin off course has a culture of its own, but generally its true.

Traditional moral values, strict work ethic, and absolute devotion for one's nation are something that in my head always makes Japan and Germany my two favorite countries. But I have to say that in recent times, Japan has been winning my heart by being the cleaner and more organized country of the two. You can tell by looking at the streets and how people react towards lettering for example.

When I talked to some German people, they usually ask me about declining population, and unproductive life style or something but I'm pleased to hear this interview lol

There is nothing much negativ to say about japan from a general german point of view and if people would say it.

I do agree partially. I'm German and I can say that most Germans know little about japan but a lot like the country and culture (very polite/clean/advanced technology).
Some of the negative points that people raise would be the Suicide rates/labor abuse and the strict society as far as I heard. I heard more than once from other Germans that they would want to visit it but don't want to live/work there. Other than that most of us have a good image of Japan and we know to differentiate between Japan/Korea/China unlike other countries I have been to where they think that all asians are Chinese.

Genau, das sind kleinere, doch sehr schöne Städte! Auf jedenfall eine Reise wert. Nur Tokyo allein würde ich nicht machen! Dafür hat Japan noch viel zu viel anderes zu bieten :)

Ich war noch nie in Japan, kenne aber einige Japaner durch berufliche Kontakte und kann die positiven Eindrücke aus dem Video nur bestätigen.
Komisch ist aber, was mir spontan zu Japan eingefallen ist: das sind diese Hitech-Toiletten mit integriertem Wasserstrahl und warmem Gebläse, die sogar Geräusche machen damit man selbst (und andere Leute) die eigenen Geräusche beim Toilettengang nicht so gut hören kann. Das ist für Deutsche schon sehr ungewohnt und manchmal schwierig zu bedienen wenn die Bedienungsknöpfe nur auf Japanisch beschriftet sind.

Germans and Japanese culture stand out from most other cultures because they are the likely closest definition of rational collectivism with the idea we don't depend on others so emotionally like our families but we do very in fact much for technical reasons in communities like work . We need people to be toghether. Not because we just love them. This is why work ethic is so solid in these countries.
Unlike the stereotypical west (Anglosphere like USA and UK) that is rational but very individualist to life,
or the Latin European (french Italian Spanish /American , Asian, slavic and African cultures that value more strong loyalty and obedience inside families but along with strong emotional dependency.
Germany is obviously less collectivist than most countries in the world , but Germans in comparison to other European countries is rather the closest definition of Japan on this factor.
I hope the reason why they didn't point out any negatives is the reason being a Japanese person being present while interviewing. I am Japanese and I really love Germany.

No, look up the same series about e.g. americans, they got trampled into the ground by negative stereotypes. We germans are honest to a fault. Here it is seen as misleading and insulting to sugarcoat things and you usually can take what a german says as their honest, unfiltered opinion. Turns out we actually just really like you japanese ^^
No, I just think they don't know enough about Japan. But the only thing negative I know is the culture of overworking, and the social problems leading to lack of children. I really hp[e both are solved ASAP as I believe a world without Japan would be very very sad.

@@Rachelism you don't get it. I remember that when i was in the vatican, i had some leisure time and started to do the most favourite pastime of all germans: starring at people. After some time i noticed this east asian group entering the square. They went directly in front of st.peters cathedral, posed for a picture and then continued to leave the square as directly as possible. Not a single one, but the photographer, actually saw the cathedral!! Not one turned around to look at it! They now have a picture of themselves in front of a magnificently beautiful building, which they have never seen with their own eyes, despite standing exactly in front of it!!

Ich bin in Japan dreimal gewesen und überraschend sind eigene Eingeschaften dieses Lands, z.B. die Straßen sieht extrem sauber aus, die Leute sind sehr sehr höflich und wenn man - wie ich - die Zugfahren liebt, ist Japan ein echtes Paradies.
Komisch ich fand Tokyo jedenfalls nicht so sauber. Da war ich enttäuscht. Liegt vllt auch daran, dass die ganzen Mülleimer abgebaut wurden. Für andere Städte gebe ich dir recht.
Ich war 2012 in Japan und habe das Zugfahren dort auch geliebt. Sehr pünktlich und ein Shinkansen ist schon sehr modern
@@knabbagluon Die Mülleimer wurden, soweit ich weiß, wegen Brandgefahr/ Brandanschlägen abgebaut. Und ich habe schon öfter gehört, dass man Toukyou nicht mit dem Rest von Japan vergleichen kann. Wenn man Japan sehen will, sollte man wohl lieber in kleine Städte reisen.

Ich hole am 29. Juni mein Abiturzeugnis ab und fliege anschließend am 30. Juni gleich für 6 Wochen nach Japan. Freue mich schon tierisch drauf, einfach ein unglaublich interessantes Land (welches mehr zu bieten hat als nur Sushi, Großstädte und Anime). Muss für meinen Aufenthalt in den ländlichen Gegenden nur noch ein bisschen Japanisch lernen bis dahin ;)

I associate Japan with both positive and negative things. Let's start with the negative, the bad relationship with China is an issue in itself. a Chinese friend of mine he went to school in Nanjing and has an abysmal hatred of the Japanese. I find Japanese history interesting, especially tokugawa ieyasu, who unified Japan in the Middle Ages and is one of the most interesting figures in Japanese history.

Ich fand es so süß, dass er aus Höflichkeit allem zustimmt und damit auch der Aussage, dass deutsche unhöflicher sind. Die umgekehrte Aussage (also falls er gesagt hätte, dass deutsche höflicher als Japaner sind) hätte man in Deutschland aus Höflichkeit abgestritten. Sehr süß
