This area has gotten so bad. There's so much crime. I don't trust anywhere near South Mountain, no matter how upscale the neighborhoods look

The NORTH side of South Mountain is totally different than the SOUTH side of it (where Ahwatukee is). Ahwatukee should not be of high concern in regard to crime. You can check out www.crimegrade.org and look at Ahwatukee on their map - the south side of the mountain is mostly green and the north side is mostly orange.

I'm originally from Nebraska, and felt the same way when I moved here. I appreciate desert landscape now though, but still prefer a greener neighborhood! We have plenty of those in the Phoenix area too. Ahwatukee is really unique.
