    What techniques do you use for a double hairpin corner?

      I usually sacrifice the first turn to carry more exit speed out of the second

    Something observed that I think you didn’t mention, during the turn in of the second hairpin, you lifted off the throttle during the sharp steering wheel turn in. Brakes weren’t needed because you weren’t going fast enough but to increase the effectiveness of the steering input to generate sufficient rotation on entry, you momentarily lifted off the throttle to increase the front grip and lessen the rear grip that helped reduce the understeer. I know you already know this of course but just stating it for additional info for your viewers. Keep up the awesome vids!

      Well observed! Normally with a slow kart I would take the 2nd hairpin flat out. However, with a faster kart lifting for a split second helps with rotation and can actually benefit towards a faster lap time.
      Many thanks for you support!

    This is really useful! I went karting a week ago (little experience in karting) and could find my way in most corners with general knowledge about racing. But I struggled by far the most with the double hairpin.

    The one at my local track is way too tight for this approach I need to do everything I can to get on the left on the exit for the first one to prepare for the super understeery right hairpin

    i have been waiting for a video like this for a long time, the track in the mall is a mix between an indoor go kart track and an outdoor track
    indoor because of the barrier, its quite narrow but i love it
    outdoor because its out in the open on the mall's roof top.

    • @kartingtips

      That sounds like a really fun track! What is the name of it?

    Would this still work for a tight double hairpin, such as Herefordshire Raceway, UK?

    On my local kart track there is a place where there is a quadruple hairpin, so do i just do this two times?

    I normally angle myself to go wider, rather than stay in the middle. Is it better not to usually?

    • @kartingtips
      @kartingtips  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends on your track. The examples I showed with staying in the middle actually got me a faster lap time at those tracks. I recommend you experiment a slightly narrower line for the second hairpin and see what effect it has on your lap time.

    Great video but the karts at my track have bucket seats, so leaning is hard, if not possible

    Great video, thanks for all your tips !
    But on my track, the corners of the double hairpin are very short, so I don't think I'll be able to go all the way to the second one.
    What can I do ?
    ( Onboard of the corners in question at 0:43 of the following video : th-cam.com/video/P0F06xOy0qg/w-d-xo.html )
    Thanks in advance for your answer

    isn't a late turn-in for a late apex?

    • @kartingtips
      @kartingtips  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's correct for when you're able to brake for the corner. Since we're trying to take the 2nd hairpin flat out, I would get a lot of understeer and miss the apex when turning late. I found that early turning mitigated this and allowed me to hit a late apex.

    HOW DO I TAKE A TRIPLE HAIRPIN?

    • @tripp2334
      @tripp2334 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Same thing with the first hairpin just twice so late apex stay in middle and then do the same with the second and exit on the 3rd if that makes since
