You're one of the very few artists on TH-cam who actually teach really well. All your videos are great, and I particularly appreciate this series! Thank you for your work.
I’m finding your videos really helpful in my new watercolour journey. Breaking the process down and explaining techniques in a simple way is extremely useful. Thanks!
Love this series, Oliver, I'm excited you've released another episode. I've begun working towards being able to paint all the lights in a single big wet-in-wet wash, but just as you said, it's challenging and even stressful, especially if there are a lot of hue changes and lights to preserve. I love that you're offering a less stressful way to work up to that goal as skills gradually develop. And I've heard no other instructors teach your "single edge" key principle, and it's briliiant. Thank you!
I really struggle with how to approach a landscape scene. What to paint first and how to paint it. Thses videos have been so helpful, cant wait for the next instalment. Thank you for taking the time to share.
This is great Ollie! I, too, have been trying to get all the lights done in one large wash and it can be so very stressful/mistake ridden. This approach shows me that I can achieve the same fresh result in a more relaxed way.
Really enjoying this series of tutorials Oliver - thank you so much! It is very useful to be encouraged to slow down and consider - I have been painting for a few years now and have learned a great deal from other TH-cam tutors. I feel I am ready for a little more now and is is it.
It’s great to see your process in stages. For my own paintings, I must admit to being impatient and I don’t like to see unresolved issues. This is perhaps the greatest lesson that I need to learn! I am painting along, by the way and will add the next wash tomorrow.
Keep. in mind that this isn't a paint-along series. It aims to give an insight into how to manage edges and plan washes across any painting, although there is no harm in replicating the scene here to practice some of these skills.
A very timely lesson as I just received a river photo from a friend which I plan to render in watercolor. Have you ever incorporated liquid ink into a watercolor painting?
Dear Oliver. What a pleasure to have your lessons, are you also on Patreon??? Thank you for the great teachings. I also live very much your paintings. Blessings 😊
The painting is gradually unfolding. My drawing is not being helpful to lightly painting the right hand side, but I have decided to press on until I get to the end, then do another painting of this photo with many more “skills” I my fingers.
Thx Paul - I'll take a look. I find the aquafine synthetics get the job done perfectly for this, although I don't do much lifting out if I can help it.
Good morning ! Great way to start my sunday. Thanks for another great lesson. Look forward to the next and will your book be available on Amazon. ? I live in Australia.
Is it ultramarine or French ultramarine?? I just came to know last week tht one is green shade and other is red shade. Does it really make difference??? I hv ultramarine
@oliverpyle-ourlandscape4442 thanks. When it said ultramarine Green shade in a watercolor book I thought it can't be used fr the skies...a Thx fr ur response

You’re a true fine artist Oliver. Thank you so much for your precise instruction.
Enjoyed the demonstration and discussion. Thanks for posting this series on planning and executing watercolor washes.
Thank you Oliver. I am thoroughly enjoying this process.
Thank you, Maestro. Can't wait for the next lesson!

thanks Juliette - yes, the single edge idea is helpful to keep in mind for most occasions in a painting
I am enjoying this series immensely!

Thank You Ollie, I've been enjoying your videos and learning. I have to really structure my time at home because I just want to paint all the time!

Been looking forward to this all morning here in NZ..
wonderful demo thank you!
Brilliant series Oliver, thanks for sharing. Please tell me why you have put masking tape down the two sides?
i love it to learn in this way, thank you!!!
I am happy that I can now continue with my painting that has been sitting on my desk for 2 weeks.

I’m painting along too, I think I will remember the lessons more if I participate and hold back my urge to see a finished painting.
Thank you for sharing, it was very useful!
Thank you for another great lesson!
Vamoooos! Gracias Maestro! Esperando con ansiedad
¡Tanto que aprender de un gran maestro!

Good morning from Australia
Morning!
Nice video. Rosemary and Co make something called 'the eradicator brush' - its perfect for pulling out paint, worth taking a look.

Thankyou Sir 🙏

It will in due course, yes.
Is it ultramarine or French ultramarine??
I just came to know last week tht one is green shade and other is red shade.

I hv ultramarine
I use French Ultramarine, which is Daler Rowney's product - it makes very little difference. One is slightly warmer than the other.
@oliverpyle-ourlandscape4442 thanks.

Thanks.
🐨👍
I'd your book launch been put back oliver
It looks that way unfortunately - Middle East shipping delays, but waiting to hear more.
