so weird seeing a place I grew up in being a tourist destination. but love seeing this point of view! Tunnel beach a sacred place for me. truely special
if you leave the fish and chips in the paper they will go soggy, which appears to be what happened. You can tear the paper and let the steam out which helps.
I love your enthusiasm for my home town and the way you find all the hidden places that make it special. Hope the rest of your stay in NZ is as much fun.
My parents come from Dunedin so I spent a lot of time on holidays there with my Grandparents. Fish and chips should be eaten just after buying them otherwise they get steam soggy.
Pity the beach was so crowded - cool to be only family there which we have occassionally managed! Yes, Larnach had the tunnel made so that his daughters had access to the beach but tragically one drowned there. So much for money! Enjoying your videos of Dunedin and being reminded how lucky we are!!!
Here's a kiwi Tip any sign of food poisoning have a teaspoon of Manuka Honey (no more than 3 teaspoon ) a day. Cause of it's antibacterial etc properties. It's supposed to kill the bad stuff in stomach and sooth at same time. Also goes into the bloodstream cleaning out the bad guys 😅. do not substitute for other honey, must be Manuka Honey ( no less than 10 percent. 💝 Hope you get better soon 👍
I was impressed with the way you two brought to us your impression of places visited while here in New Zealand hope that your time in the land of the long white cloud was very enjoyable an plenty of memories made thankyou
Awesome random episode guys. We used to party at Tunnell beach all the time as teenagers. No-one could hear the music or complain about the campfire. Just a shame you picked one of the worst fish and chip shops in town. So many better places for quality and value for money. Can't wait for the next episode!!
Those chips probably got soggy due to how long they were wrapped up - stuck in a mini sauna! As for Watties tomato sauce, it's way too sweet, so Heinz is a good choice. However, if you're looking for a cheaper, but more spicey sauce than Watties, try Pams in the refill tin (not the low salt one), or Greggs.
ya buy your fish n chips on the way home, not before you're going to the grocery store lol, i could never @_@ also rip a hole in the top of the paper packet to let out the steam. also ask for chips to be chicken salted, it's not just the fact chicken salt tastes better it's the fact they have to think about seasoning it properly instead of going through their normal motion. i ask for chips well-done too but looking at the color of that oil is sus considering it is not well-done, they need to change their oil if that is not well-done also should have got a lemon for the fish or tartare sauce, vinegar is fine for chips only and as far as tomato sauce anything will do, i even sometimes use puree or glass jar stuff that is meant for Italian dishes.
My home town Dunedin, my grandparents lived in St Clair. Summer holidays on the beach. Dunedin has had a large Chinese population since the 1860's and the Otago Gold rush. It is a treasure, many lovely memories. My great uncle and Aunt owned Larnarch Castle until Uncle Jack contracted Parkinson's desease in the 1950's.
Dunedin rocks and when you look back at your NZ adventures I am sure Dunedin as a travel location will be near the top. Tunnel beach is a real gem for sure. Thanks again guys.
Thank you for your interesting video on Dunedin. Sorry to hear that Mado had food poisoning. Peppermint tea and Camomile tea will settle the stomach reasonably quickly so that you can enjoy the rest of your journey.
Its been years since I went to Tunnel Beach. It certainly didn't have a carpark or proper path! I took my 4 yr old there 33 years ago. We walked from our house in Caversham Vally Road and back. It would kill me getting back up now, but I remember Jacob running all the way up! There never used to be anyone there. Glad you enjoyed it.i wouldn't live anywhere else, and to be fair, I never have lol.
Although Watties tomato sauce runs in my brothers veins, I prefer Tuimato, with Tui beer in it. Dip your chips in that! and Gurnard or Snapper is the best fish in NZ for Fish and Chips. Dunedin is my favourite NZ city. A lovely place to live, especially as a student. Great fun, and safe.
Hang On.. You bought the fish&Chips... And then went to Pak&Save! No. You can NEVER do that! (watch those Orange lights) I absolutely Love your videos. They make want to See my own Country again. Thank you.
Should always eat fish and chips freshly cooked Glen. I've you leave them in the paper to long they get soft and soggy and dont taste as good mate. Be safe guys
Another good video guys, despite poor Mado not feeling the best. (Did she eat something you didn't Glen)? Those chips definitely well overcooked and soggy. Cheers guys
Growing up mostly kiwis did fish and chips. We would have vinegar on chips.. but as time went on tomato sauce became the thing. I still have vinegar on mine, my kids think it's yuck! Lol
The chips were probably soggy because you took so long to get to them (got steamed in the wrapping) Heinz should never be imported into NZ, Watties is a thousand times better. Vinegar is something that should be mixed with food. It's only good for making weed killer!
I’ve never been to Tunnel Beach but I’m definitely putting it on my list! Stunning beach ❤ There’s a lot of unhappy photographers though because since they’ve redeveloped the carpark area, there’s nowhere for aurora photographers to park at night (the carpark gets closed at night and it doesn’t sound like there’s parking on the road). It was a VERY popular spot for them!! Council really missed the mark in that regard 🤦♂️😠
I think the fish n chips had been cooked several times already. I hate it when they do that. When I lived in NZ we had to return them and ask for a refund a few times.
Hi arslan here I love to watch your vlogs i am from Pakistan my friends also watch your video but they don't understand your language i can understand very well i suggest you to include urdu hindi subtitle in your video and I can do it manually Otherwise we offer all language subtitles but your video language must be in english if you are interested interested then reply me
Wait a on just minute here, you were on your way home and you got your fish & chips before you went to the supermarket? Then complained about soggy chips? Only yourself to blame dude, the fish & chip shop is always the last stop on the way home, and when you rip the top edge of the wrapping open to have a few chips on the way back, you also let the steam out... amateur.
Stop banging on about the weather… you’re wrong. Dunedin doesn’t have the best weather in NZ but it is often sunny. Having lived there and in England, the weather in Dunedin is much better - not as cold, not as grey, not as rainy.
I live in Dunedin and I'm from England and its basically identical 😂. Also this guy is irish, not English. He literally said its similar to Irish and Scottish weather

Glen you display such chivalry it's so nice to see ❤

Ahh, gosh Mado, New Zealand keeps making you sick!🤒 I hope you feel better now🙂
Always interesting no matter what you guys post.

I agree and fish with tomato sauce yuk, you guys are doing an awesome job showing even kiwis around the country

the only sauce for any food is Whitlock's Tomato Chutney

Fantastic view of Tunnel Beach guys. Rare to see it so bright and sunny.
Lovely views and adventures, we're happy you're taking us on your journey.... thank you for sharing!

Marvellous, my only gripe is that I am always hungry after watching one of your clips. Dunedin looks a great place to visit. Cheers
We have cruised NZ, we loved Dunedin best. Nice coffee at Casey Bay.
Unfortunate at Tunnel Bridge is high tide in am unable to see wildlife.

its a magical place, I can imagine it was even more magical back then as everything was more untouched.
In Australia- Queensland anyway, they ship (pump) the sand in when it's eroded in storm surges. Regular occurrence now.
Woohoo! Tunnel Beach! My home!
Dunedin on a great day❤.Thanks for that 👍

Gurnard is great but hard to get.
My home suburb. Where you parked at St Clair in Bedford Street was only about 200 metres from where I live! :)
Hang On..
You bought the fish&Chips...
And then went to Pak&Save!
No.
You can NEVER do that!

I absolutely Love your videos.
They make want to See my own Country again. Thank you.

I hope you make it back to Northland. The ocean is the perfect temperature, very tropical.
Another good video guys, despite poor Mado not feeling the best. (Did she eat something you didn't Glen)? Those chips definitely well overcooked and soggy. Cheers guys
Great vlog as always guys
Touch of food poisoning off some venison, deer oh deer !
Get well soon Mado
seems like you guys are having loads of fun here in NZ
Really enjoy your videos ❤
Lanarch Castle is a good place to see too.
Epicness again Glen and mado
Get wet well mado
Lol I live in St Clair. I spied my neighbors car! Not on our street.. the bell is related to a string of shark attacks in the 1960s.
Carisbrook Hotel was a slum lord social housing deal, I think it got shut down.
Good video, feel better Mado!
Growing up mostly kiwis did fish and chips. We would have vinegar on chips.. but as time went on tomato sauce became the thing. I still have vinegar on mine, my kids think it's yuck! Lol
It’s a very English and Irish thing to add vinegar though! 😂
1st Love From Pak ❤
I'm a Kiwi and I love vinegar on chips...yuuum!
Driving line same to same india , Beautiful Lake . From ODISHA -INDIA
Haha I cracked up whe n you drove past my work on Kia korai valley road
Us local kid's playground from the 1960s.
You're staying a few minutes away from where Mum lives!
The chips were probably soggy because you took so long to get to them (got steamed in the wrapping)

Vinegar is something that should be mixed with food. It's only good for making weed killer!
youve got to ask for the fish to be lightly battered or you get too much batter in my opinion. especially with a good piece of fish like blue cod.
Gws mado... Glenn owes you a pizza and an ice cream 😉

💞
And check the tide! At high tide there is NO BEACH
Wayhoo
Mado, cheese and hard boiled eggs stop the poops.
The chips got soggy because they say in your car too long
Hi👍🏾
The reason they are floppy is because you should have eaten them when you bought them
Hi arslan here

Love soggy chips lol. Mado shoulda had some too - put a nice fatty lining on her stomach!
Those chips look really soggy ... edible only if buried in salt and sauce.
And a slice of bread 👍
Wait a on just minute here, you were on your way home and you got your fish & chips before you went to the supermarket? Then complained about soggy chips? Get your facts right. Dunedin weather is gloomy and cold. Baldwin st is NOT just the steepest street in NZ!
WARNING ::::::::: Don't go to Dunedin and NOT check out the local music
Yeah well, NZs a hilly place. Lol😂
Stop banging on about the weather… you’re wrong. Dunedin doesn’t have the best weather in NZ but it is often sunny. Having lived there and in England, the weather in Dunedin is much better - not as cold, not as grey, not as rainy.
I reckon dunedin is nothing like UK
Thank you! We had an awful patch of weather they happened to be here for - its not like that all the time!
I live in Dunedin and I'm from England and its basically identical 😂. Also this guy is irish, not English. He literally said its similar to Irish and Scottish weather
Are u guys stil in new boring land omg good nyt💤💤💤💤💤
St Clair like Cronulla in Sydney on southern side
