    I love all three of the great 8 bits. I had a C64 myself but I could appreciate that all three machines had their great titles. I played my friends Amstrad and Speccy's all the time. If only to find the best versions of our favourite games. Great memories.

    My Dad would take me and my brother to Toys R Us back in the late 80's. We always got to pick a budget game each. One time he picked a random game we'd never heard of, turned out to be Feud. No instructions, nothing. And we had no idea what we were doing.
    Years later perhaps 1990, I decided to load it up again and got hooked! Finished it eventually! Super challenging game but, once you've played it so much you know where every single ingredient is by heart, it's do-able.
    Feud is up there with Barbarian, Renegade, Croco-Magneto, Saracen, Jet Set Willy 2, Roland In Time, Anarchy, Terminus, Pyjamarama, Deathstalker etc. Definitely one of the best CPC games of all time. I prefer the original Dizzy over it's sequels. Something about it was just really simple and appealing yet really challenging game!

      @@ClassicReplay Yes most people I've talked to who played it, said they never finished it - they gave up. The game did feel like it was cheating sometimes, with your enemy appearing at the most frustrating times. Yes, je regrette very much!
    Since no-one's mentioned it though, I'd like to put forward the CPC version of Aliens as my favourite game from back then. Very happy memories.

      It was great at doing colours, and there were some really good games. I don't think it was originally thought of as a gaming computer, no hardware sprites, and bad scrolling. But you are correct, my biggest beef with the Amstrad is the soundchip. Yes it can be forced to make Sid emulation, but it comes at a cost. The soundchip itself simply can't do all the waveforms the Sid is able to. However check out some of the newest Amstrad demos, they are amazing, yes even compared to the c64, except the sound of course. A better non Sid soundchip would be the Pokey in Atari, it really has character, and sounds in some aspects just as good as the Sid.

I was a Spectrum kid, also had a C64 a little later on but it's way too easy to overlook the Amstrad versions of so many games, which in many instances were better or the best you could get. It's a shame there were a lot of lazy Spectrum ports (which often, by default, ran more badly) but when the developers put in the effort on the CPC it so often paid off. Subbed =)

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 mate it was like you were in my bedroom when i was 14 or 15 lol yeh loads of good games and yes Amstrad had a lot of surprises. i always wanted a C64 mainly because of the 2 joy stick ports for 2 player games such as Spy vs Spy lol me and my mate played against each other flat out a few years before the CPC was ever thought of so that Christmas when i got the CPC i was a little gutted lol but said nothing except thank you and how happy i was but deep inside still a little sad but green screen monitor as well i fell in love with the CPC464 and the following November for my birthday they got me the modulator and holly s*^t i was blown away with the colour from my little Amstrad portable TV it was like a new computer all over again lol. Anyway sorry for going on one but i only come across your chann here now tonight and as soon as the first game came on Arkanoid i hit like and subbed 🤣🤣🤣 mate I'm still playing that now on steam and it was the CPC version that i fell in love with because it was as perfect as anyone could of had it, i was surprised Hyper sports wasn't on? but like you say personal favourite, Ikari Warriors! That was the first game that i ever clocked on my CPC and my absolute favourite on that machine and again for 8 bit it blew everything else out of the water you were spot on with that comment on that game absolutely Bang On! well i will be checking more of your vids now and thank you fantastic little video on an old family friend the CPC464 👌

      @ClassicReplay  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nebulus is a very good game, frustrating sometimes getting knocked down, but I recall having fun with it. I never could complete it, did you? I might have to go back to it. Prohibition I was never a fan, I preferred operation Wolf and other such games. But I did later play it on the Amiga and enjoyed it a bit more. So I reckon if I’d have stuck with it things might have been different. ERE I think is French, so I probably missed out on most of those games if not in English. I had these 2 games that I can't find anywhere. One I don't remember the name, but the character has a jet pack. It was moving slowly by walking but pretty fast when flying. I have not been able to complete the game, I was not sure what the goal was. I still have the melody in my head. Another one was called "Collapse" I think, it was a platform where you (looked like a bear on the cover) needed to collect some items from the screen. If anyone can identify these games based on my crude description, that would be great!

    Despite its lack of popularity compared with the commodore 64 the Amstrad is surprisingly a great machine whose games are comparable to the commodore - that chase hq is undoubtebly better than the commie and ik+ and emlyn hughes are pretty much the same. Its a wonder why this machine didn't get the notoriety it deserved when compared to the 64 (perhaps it was significantly more expensive to the 64) with its much superior color pallet.

    • @ClassicReplay
      @ClassicReplay  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s no surprise to me and the 3 million others that owned one. I’ve said for years that IK+ on the CPC plays a mean fighting game and ChaseHQ leads the pack. Emlyn Hughes is a bit slower, but that’s because it shares Speccy code and mode 0 graphics. It worked out to be more affordable when you consider you needed a tv for the C64. I think the C64 was ultimately the better games machine, but the Amstrad was the best all rounder.

      The Games Machine gave it 82%, Powerplay gave it 85%, ACE gave it 77%, AA gave it 82%. But only CV+G awarded it 90%. So where are these 95% ratings in magazines 🤷🏻‍♂️ it’s a damn fine game, I love it also. But without scroll, for such a big arcade conversion. It was always going to be open to scrutiny.
