    Putting a raise in on the flop with a hand like 8s 7s looks so strong, puts extreme pressure on all one pair hands, plus blocks middle set. This is a key takeaway for when you don't have a thick value hand in this configuration.

    • @fryoungtrad
      @fryoungtrad 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      But would you actually do that if you had middle set?

      If you're hero and didn't raise preflop with hands like A3, A4, A5 of hearts, diamonds, or spades - then I think those are good hands to cold 3-bet the flop with as a bluff. Or a hand like A2 suited, since you block some combo's of sets and two-pairs, and can improve to two pair.

      raise the flop if they were deeper perhaps? board is sooooo dry so I hate a raise and we have soooo little value here. also, how do you feel about 8s9s as a bluff candidate? I just feel like people wont ever fold a king on this board.

      if you have KJ on a flop of K72-rainbow, in between two players: first guy bets 15, you raise to 65, and the guy behind you raises to 150, you don't think most players are folding that type of hand on the flop? I'd say at least 60% of players are, maybe more.

    The player pool in Vegas is insanely soft right now. It's a seasonal thing.
    We are just entering convention season, and it will run good through April or so.
    World of concrete was just here, and the things I saw were obviously only possible from folks who had never played before, or just saw poker on tv.
    Good times.

    So what you were saying about possible collision towards the end....I had a situation a while ago like that. On the river, three handed, player 1 bets. I'm next to act and I tank a bit because I have someone behind yet to act and I'm not sure how good my hand is. I eventually call, and the other player now raises. The first player calls. I reluctantly muck; figuring that I can't be good. Then the other player mucks. I wanted to see the first player's hand, but he jammed his cards into the muck pile and collected the pot. I tried calling BS, but then the guy got all bent out of shape that I was accusing him of cheating. I said I never accused him, I just was supposed to have the right to see the hand - since there was a bet and a call - and the reason for that right was to avoid collusion.

    I have to disagree with Bart when he says cold 3-bet raising on the flop is a good play with hero's bottom set here. A lot of people in CO’s seat would fold hands like KJ, KQ, KT to a cold 3-bet. It looks weaker for hero to flat call the flop, and then bet again on the turn - than it does to put in the cold 3-bet on the flop, and bet the turn.

    • @ticenits1926
      @ticenits1926 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I understand why he wants to 3bet here because he’s trying to build the pot rapidly, but the problem with 3betting post flop is you are almost always turning your hand into a bluff. From your opponents perspective they are going to overfold way too often.

I'm not crazy about it either. The point is; can we expect that to be part of a random villains range? And the answer is clearly yes. But when HJ C-bets this flop, gets raised to more than 4X and then gets a caller on the button, it is no longer a matter of opinion. HJ should fold K8 if he is anywhere near competent.

    In this setup, I would never 3-bet the flop, I prefer hero's line to Bart's. I'd rather risk getting less than their whole stacks, than risk getting not one more chip, which is a pretty likely result of a 3-bet.
    3-betting makes it too easy for both opponents to correctly fold. Bart says the flop isn't draw-heavy. In fact, it is completely devoid of straight and flush draws, except of course runners. Not even a gutshot is out there.
    It is basically as safe a flop as Q72 rainbow, which is the only hand which can lead to the lowest possible nuts on the river, QQQ87 with the board Q8732. Arguably even safer for a set of deuces, because KK is more likely to make itself visible than QQ at some point.

    Bart is overthinking this hand.
    Preflop actions shows that the table is horrible and the players in the hand are horrible.
    Top pair is not folding here, and while CO could have 77, other hand such as K7, K8 or KJ are more likely. Remember, this guy has been playing 50% of hands, and stacking people with two pair.
    HJ has either a K, or 78. I'd call, because they play makes no sense. Yes, 77 will how up here from CO, but it would be profitable to call against THOSE specific opponents.
    Bad players make bad decisions, and those bad decisions are often overvaluing a their hand, especially just top pair or two pair, on boards where those hands are not likely good anymore.

    So this hand got weird for me. We find out the villains are just idiots, but it sounds like caller initially thought they were just a bit weak & as time went on realized they were clueless.
    I play mostly home games and the majority of players are between competent & very good. I've never actually played in Vegas. With these things said, I was a bit surprised Bart wants to raise flop. The PFR has C-bet and is raised just over 4X next to act with a player [hero/caller behind him in position]. A 3 bet should end the hand fairly often. Maybe hero has AK that did not 3 bet pre? Or maybe hero is the bad player and raises in this spot with KQ? I don't know, maybe I'm projecting myself into hero's spot too much. Because I'm either bluffing [and I cannot really find any semi-bluffs] or have K2+ here [really K7+, but maybe people think I'd limp K2s on button]. If I was the HJ I'd snap fold AK [not that I'd open that for 3X with limpers but you get the point]. Now even if HJ folds on flop to hero's 3 bet, what is CO supposed to call with? We find out he's an idiot with KT. But what should he have? Where is the semi-bluff? The flop is K 7 2 rainbow. What hand is hero 3 betting for value? My first thought as a villain here is that hero is repping K7+ and his bluffs [if he has any] are simply air-balls.
    I would have definitely raised turn & I agree with all of Bart's other analysis. Except perhaps mentioning the backdoor appearing on turn, but that was probably just force of habit. Who is supposed to have A7hh here?

    Locks most of HJ's hands out of the pot that hes drawing dead with
    Potentially makes CO fold a bunch of hands he's drawing dead with
    Looks absurdly strong
