The Renault Twingo was ahead of its time compared to other cars in its class..Very comfortable spaces for its size, comfortable suspension, economical engines and quite good in passive safety for the data of its time ✌
Safety was its biggest Problem, this thing is compared to todays Standarts a driving Cofin

@@boarking3670 They eventually improved its safety in its 2000 facelift by adding larger antiroll bars, bigger wheels, bigger brakes and side airbags on all trim levels (it was previously only available on the Initiale trim level), they even added brake assist in 2002.

When the Renault Twingo 1 was imported into my country, I didn't have a car because I was too young. Today the few that have it are impractical ... I fulfill myself watching this video "zillions" of times... (for me the best POV ever!) Congratulations !!

I have heard that upper management of Renault had expected first generation of Twingo to sell poorly, so they didn't bother creating the right-sided variant. It turned out to be a massive hit

My first car was a '99 Twingo. Such memories...
2002, my second one, 75 hp, Automatic, cozy on the inside and beautifully silver on the outside, the greatest car I ever had. Unfortunately crashed it with 45 mph in bad weather 5 years ago, and I still miss it. It was so simple and yet so great and reliable.
Mine was "fluorescent" yellow on the outside, manual, 59hp. Sorry about that, glad you're ok though.

You don't have to release the gas pedal while shifting up the gear in manual mode ;)

Well its a habit afterall. You used feeling to drive a car specialy a manual so even he do porpusely trying to use the quickshift system. Without him realizing he just released the gas pedal because of muscle memory.

@@exkenny432 Same, the first one is a classic, the 2nd generation model, while not as iconic as its predecessor, is a worthly successor to the first one, and the current one is way too different and nowhere near as practical as the first two because of its FWD transmission.

THE Twingo 1 or The pocket minivan. The car in which you could choose to take 4 friends with you or 12 (I'm exaggerating a little bit 🤏) suitcases by folding the back seat.
Interchangeable left and right mirrors (🤷♂️) and a 30-year-old cast-iron Cleon engine because it was the cheapest one that was already lying on Renault's shelves the day they had to choose. And it wasn't a bad choice.
The car that succeeded while missing its starting target.
Twingo 1 is definitely an "urban legend"...
In this particular model produced in 2004 the engine was not Cleon anymore.

Are the gears longer for the automatic version? On manual shift you would switch gears like 10-20 Km/h earlier
On highway it was in 4th gear until like 130 I think, manual would be almost in rev limiter

Arm out on the window - like a boss! Can you elaborate on how this automated manual works? Up is next shift, down is lower shift, or?
I wanted to buy one of these a while back and naturally did a bunch of research on them. IIRC the automated manual is up = gear up, down = gear down and right = reverse.
@@masterkamen371 ....plus fully automatic mode, which automatically lifts off the throttle before changing gears. They have regular gearboxes (no torque converter) and a regular clutch,. They then have a shifting ECU and a mechanical clutch controller. Much cheaper to build and maintain than a regular torque converter automatic - but less reliable. Lot's of maintentance needed and the clutch controllers fail regularly.

Citroen C1 / Peugeot 107 / Toyota Aygo (all the same car, under the body). 1.0 3cylinder engine is a delight and sounds fantastic, and they are so easy to fix and maintain. Excellent fuel economy and low taxation and insurance too.

How many speed's does it have? Mine is a 2003 manual 1.2 16V that has the power, but the gearbox is so short at 80 km/h noisy and at 100 forget about it XD
This automatic version has the same gearbox (5 speed) and clutch as yours - but it has no clutch pedal and uses a shifting ECU and a mechanical clutch controller. Very advanced for 2004 !

Cześć Joe. Kontynując wczorajszą rozmowę. Ja też kocham samochody od początku i od urodzenia lubiłem bardzo jeździć samochodem i dopiero później zaczołem się dużo uczyć o samochodach czyli żeby otworzyć maskę pojazdu to trzeba pociągnąć za wajche w środku samochodu przy drzwiach podejść na przód auta i pociągnąć dodatkową dźwignie pod maską i unieść ją do góry. Nikt nie wieży że w wieku 13 lat umiem sprawdzić olej, dolać płynu do spryskiwaczy. A ty AK zaczołeś przygodę z samochodami? Wczoraj napisałeś że od zawsze. Ale co Cię zmotywowało do samochodów tak sam czy ktoś inny Ci tam wiesz?

i have the same car, how do you put the gears on the screen next to the km?
This is the semi-automatic version (no clutch)... the gears are always shown there. This is not possible in the manual gearbox version.
