You are the first person so far I have come across that made a stripper that slices the wire instead of peeling it like a potato. And it is adjustable. You showed me what I had in mind I just didnt know how to go about doing it. I am always having to throw away extra hardware and brackets, and there is always a box full of wire within a few weeks. It isnt a gold mine but it is money in a box that accumulates. It pains me to see so much excess be thrown out. I'd save it all if I had the room. Excellent video. It has to be worth the time, this looks pretty easy and sensible.
Thank you! I work in construction and have been taking all the cable that gets skipped home with me but it's been building up faster than I can strip it using a shop-bought cable stripper that is only designed to strip a few inches at most of the end and or using a Stanley Blade and doing it across my lap which has resulted in numerous cuts on my fingers and tattered trousers I'm gonna make one of these as it looks like it makes life one hell of a lot easier!
All good but l just use a blade clamped in the vice between two washers. l just put it in the right side of the vice and drag the wire over the blade. You can use different thickness washers for different size wire . Just make sure the blade tip is not protruding above the top of the vice for safety.
Beautiful! I made one in about 45 minutes and it works like a charm! Easy to build & efficient, who could ask for anything more. Thank You Very Much!!!
I like your stripper design. I think it's more practical and efficient than the roller types that tend to crush the insulation off the wire. I will make two modifications to your approach. I prefer to pull the wire horizontally like another person who commented. My stripper will use a two blade approach for each given wire size. Where the blades are 180-degrees apart. Using two blade should make it even easier to get the insulation to simply fall away. Thanks for sharing your idea!
Thank you for the great idea! I had been thinking about how to make a cable stripper for a few days and then came across your video and it solved my problem. I used two pieces of wood instead of metal and clamped them in my vice to hold it down. It only took me 10 mins to make a simple one. And I stripped 100+ feet of 10gauge copper in about 5 mins. Thanks again!
thank you for the kind words of encouragement. your feedback makes a huge difference in motivating me to do more. i appreciate your view. thanks again!!
Great idea. Ive watched videos amd tried making other contraptions to strip wire. But this one by far is the best and easiest to use. So easy its almost addictive. 👍🏻👍🏻
Tried this exact setup, doesn't work. The blade pushes itself out after about 8 inches so I don't end up with a deep enough score to pull the wire out of the insulation. Either that or the wire rolls to the side and the same thing happens.

You can tell it works as he uses fine multi wire cable to test - not just solid copper wire...Good design.
do you fasten the blade or just hammer it..can this achieve millimeter accuracy when piercing the sheath? please some more info, i am curious- any vids?
thanks for the vid bud! best one and easiest cable stripper ive seen on youtube and im definitly making it. just got into hobby scrapping and i've been trying to figure out how to speed up the stripping without spending $50 plus for a machine. ive got everything but the drill bits for this build!
hey thanks mate! your words are a shot of adrenaline for an inventor/maker. I am so pleased that this stripper is going to help someone else... that's awesome. It was born out of necessity and the lack of big bucks for a pre made unit. Let us all know how you went... cheers and good luck
tsc RECYCLE e-scrapper it works however I don't have very thick angle iron so I'm kinda limited on the wire thickness and I can't seem to get the blade to stay still
hmmmm.. how about trying two square tubes side by side. It would look totally different, but will allow you to drill any size hole. As for the blade, the only way is to squeeze it in place with extreme pressure (as its not possible to put a bolt through the blade). I will try to make a video for you, for larger diameter cables.
Nicely done, although I'm looking for a motor driven stripper. Video well done also. However, can you explain why is it we always recommend using gloves and goggles in our videos, but we don't use them ourselves?
cheers mate. motor driven was outta my league at the time. the safety disclaimer is 'do as i say, not as i do' so the lawyers wont get rich ;) i prefer to omit the gloves around high speed machines, no snag risks. thanks for watching p.s. good luck with your channel, good content!
actually... my first prototype was drilled by a hand drill. it took a lot of patience and a steady hand. it does work. But a drill press makes it sooo much easier and neater. cheers
hi mate. i am now!. I've been off air for a while, extended family time. I'm sorry for the delay in responding. New videos this month! thanks for watching. have a safe one :)
Great video, I think that I have all the pieces. I will be putting one together after I make sure that I have all the items. I have liked and subscribed and rang the bell. 👍
thanks Bro, the Scrapping community is a very active and supportive bunch. I started this channel before Cyber MacGyver, but love them both equally ;) Its a good idea to collect power cables in wheelie bins, and then cash them in before christmas for beer money. $2-$6 per kilo. pure copper is best. i clean out my workshop when i get a trailer load, get over $200 a load ( no tip fees either).
+jeph4life hi. do you mean; stand the tool vertically in a vice and use it as normal, except pull on a horizontal axis? if so, then you're spot on. However i like to clamp it down with a G clamp and pull the cable vertically (for convenience). Thanks a lot for watching. Cheers

I like how your scrap has zero rust and the exact bolts needed for assembly
Simple and elementary design. Brilliant work. I have been trying to make an over engineered motorized version that still hit or miss
Stop

i hope this comes in handy... a blade in the lap sounds painful : )
thanks for watching!
Made one of these today and is probably the best design and easiest to make and is very safe to use
DO NOT ADD MUSIC TO ANY DIY DEMO VIDEO. GOLDEN RULE. IT MAKES VIEWERS GO DEAF.
Nicely done

Not ,finish video ,sir
thank you so much I had over 50 kg of wire and this helped me so much
excellent! im glad it was useful.
cheers for the feedback

thanks for the support and feedback. i made it as simple as possible..
good luck with yours, feel free to drop by and share your results
Genius... definitely doing this.
Subbed also...
Nice work... much thanks.

Safest and easiest i've seen so far, clever.
Very clever and simple. It's the best process I've seen yet!..well done and thanks for sharing
thank you for the kind words of encouragement. your feedback makes a huge difference in motivating me to do more. i appreciate your view.
thanks again!!
Nice design thanks for sharing
New subscriber here thank you for the video awesome job
What a innovative idea.
thank you. it was born out of necessity..
I’ve just bought an electric stripper for £149. Well worth the extra expense for the production of scrap wire.
that will be next for me... how is your stripper going?
Great idea. Ive watched videos amd tried making other contraptions to strip wire. But this one by far is the best and easiest to use. So easy its almost addictive. 👍🏻👍🏻
awesome feedback, thank you.
im happy it is useful to you :)
Very simple and works well thanks much
wonderful thanks :)
Very nice tutorial
This is the one!

Same idea but I always drill some holes in a 2x4 then hammer the blades in.

Well you did not show how you ran the wire through the stripe it!

Thanks for visiting my channel@@CyberRecycle. Happy to hear you liked it, an incentive to keep on going. Luck to you too
Thanks for watching and your generous comment.
Good to know
I didn’t see you finish it all I saw was you bundle the copper what happened???
Exactly
I like it a lot, I just need a drill press and I can make my own now ;)
actually... my first prototype was drilled by a hand drill. it took a lot of patience and a steady hand. it does work. But a drill press makes it sooo much easier and neater.

are u still making videos?
hi mate. i am now!.
I've been off air for a while, extended family time. I'm sorry for the delay in responding.
New videos this month!
thanks for watching. have a safe one
:)
Note sure why you would make that whole video and not show the thing in action?
So for larger sized wires I will need to get thicker brackets? BTW nice work good thinking buddy.
yep. spot on.
it gets tricky with really thick cables, but a wooden tool might work better in those cases.
thanks for watching
You need to move onto bigger wire
Where's your demo.?
demo vid link is in the description, its th-cam.com/video/JAEUKvGBSuQ/w-d-xo.html
thanks for watching
Love it thanx, just subscribed :)
Great video, I think that I have all the pieces. I will be putting one together after I make sure that I have all the items. I have liked and subscribed and rang the bell. 👍
Nice even the comment one nice stripper to go lol
Brake line flaring tool!
a b do they come in 2.5mm??
Don't ya just love it when someone tells you to wear safety glasses and gloves and don't practice what they preach?
Yep that's typical of the bone headed Aussie diy bogan. :... I've seen the same sort of attitude on Aussie mower repair vids. Arr ya gotta laugh eh .
Good job mate. Had no idea this channel was doing much better than cyber mack.. You make me wanna go scrapping, can you make decent coin out of it?
thanks Bro, the Scrapping community is a very active and supportive bunch. I started this channel before Cyber MacGyver, but love them both equally ;)

if you left those threaded parts on you could of chucked it up in a vice and pulled the wire horizontally

I recommend you practice what you preach you say safety glasses and wear gloves are you wearing your safety glasses and your gloves.
🤦🏻♀️
good job , what is this blade?
it is a blade from 'stanley' knife or utility knife.
thanks for watching
You didn’t show it working duurrr!,,
My son ask the question he recognize the music lol ..
ozlard 'life of riley' by Kevin MacLeod 😊👍
👍👍👍👍
You recomand safety glass and gloves... But you use not gloves.. 😂
👍👍👍🤝
Why did you put Kids music?
it was all that was available for free on youtube. i have a better music library these days
can you make me one and ship it to me :)
+Gerald Padgett Hi, thanks for watching.
I reckon the shiiping costs would be painful . :)
But if you're serious, sure no worries...
Cheers, TSC
good recommendation but your not wearing gloves two faced
