@@HateIncarnate You can't do it on reaction. You have to do it on prediction. That's because highlander can't perform an action momentarily after feinting his offense stance attacks. They don't react to your attacks and feint parry. They predict when you will do an attack and feint early to parry it.
In good hands, a Highlander can be intimidating. But I have more of an issue with the heros who carry the players like Afeera, ocelotl, VG, shaman, and orochi. I can respect taking a sub par hero and making them S tier, rather than being a sub par player and having your hand held simply because of character pick.
Or maybe stop complaining about afeera oce, VG etc and learn to fight them or get better and just play the game

Hl definitely doesn't need a nerf, he just happened to finally reached closed to his singularity point. Claiming hl is op is like claiming Shaman is. Is shaman really strong? Yes, but very counterable. Anyone will notice that intelligent place on most assasins counters hl well.

sup, guys. this is me, the gladiator from the first battle. I noticed that here many people are inclined to the skill issue and the other stuff, but I want to clarify the fact that I am an ordinary player with 60 hertz and 100+ reps. You're right, it's really hard for me to play against such characters, especially when they are played by above-average players with good monitors. But still, to say that HL is not strong is nonsense. Not fan of Havok, but it was fun to play with him.
You just admitted that havok was better than you and are still trying to blame it on the character he used lol, and nobody is denying he's strong but you said op which he isn't

All he said was that the hero is strong to which... yes he is. There’s a reason so many players have “suddenly” started picking up Highlander even on Console. It’s for the same reason they always buy the new heros that come out or stick to certain ones like Orochi... because their ez to play and take no brain cells to use.
Stop denying Upisofts blatant favoritism of specific characters and how op and broken they make them at times. It’s why most casual players get turned off to the games because hardcore 🥜 sacks like you are obsessed with so called “skill issue” when in actuality you just like not having to think while you play a special needs hero that someone who’s literally blind could succeed in.

Short answer, no, he still lacks from neutral even with his zone as an opener, and is susceptible to light interrupts on majority of his offense unless youre in heavy hitstun. He wasn't broken before, and he isnt now. And thats coming from a hl main who hates the rework because of the huge nerf to wavedashing and techs. He's better than he was, but he's not orochi, pirate, or ocelotl. And those aforementioned issues are more prominent in duels
Then why are there more hl players now then there ever was before?? He literally has too many mixups and options .. people realize he’s broken . Don’t get me started on how janky his dodge attack is especially in ganks ..
@@MkOnthaGame because they made his skill floor way lower. You don't have to learn the techs to get him to function properly or effectively anymore, so the people who wanted to try him but couldn't be bothered to learn anything can now give him a shot as he functions similarly to other heroes starting out. Bad highlander players, which is 99% of the people who picked him up post rework, still dont do any better than they were before pre rework, and it's blatantly obvious when someone doesn't know what they're doing. In turn, they're easy to beat because they don't know the fundamental flaws of HLs kit
Plus, what kind of a question is that, whenever a hero gets a rework people will try them and play them regardless of who it is. Conq, LB, kensei, etc, all had their time in the spotlight and we all well know they're not meta despite people complaining they were not too long after the rework.
Highlander is better than he was, he has a much lower skill floor and ceiling than he did, but he still suffers from the same problems he did before outside of roll catching, so no, he's not overpowered.
Funnily enough, a hero I can guarantee you'll say has far less mixups than highlander and isn't op: cent. Actually has the same amount of mixups that highlander does.
I'd just advise fighting good highlanders, find someone to duel with who knows him pre rework and spar with them, you'll figure out the weaknesses easily enough
@@sydious_s_snake highlander is one of those heroes that you need to play a specific hero in order to stand a chance against him . The only thing you can do is catch one of his light openers before he gets into his super Op mixups . If you so happen to miss a light then you either get hit with hyper armor , kicked , grabbed or hit with an extremely janky looking dodge attack . I appreciate you for trying to make highlander sound like he’s some super easy flawed hero to beat but that’s not the case .. he’s a nightmare and makes the game unfun

@@MkOnthaGame he is a hero with flaws, you're just not good at fighting him. Everything from neutral is reactable, he can't backstep light to get into offense anymore so he got much worse in that department, his zone can be interrupted out of on reaction which stuffs his hard feint into offensive and a gb, Keltic curse is reactable, which if you aren't respecting you're gonna eat as you would any hero with hyperarmour. Once he's in chain, an early or late dodge attack counter kick to grab and kick to GB, so that's his most potent mixups covered, you're making a read on it like any other two step/feintable bash, and the offensive dodge attack is no faster than any other, so if you cant react to that then you mustnt be reacting to any other dodge attacks. His strongest tool is offensive lights, which if he decides to do anything different out of can be interrupted as kick and heavy both don't come out quick enough. If you miss a light and they continue the chain, you block the heavy, like any other in chain hyper armour
A hero that has multiple flaws getting into their offense is a fundamentally not overpowered hero. Ocelotl, has next to no flaws and can counter correct reads without worrying about an interrupt, and medjay hasn't been an issue since his damage, hitbox, and hyperarmour nerfs last season.
HL is very good, better than he was, but he's not overpowered and far from it if you don't know how to play him properly (which again most don't unless they played him pre rework), and throwing that term around for clickbait is such a youtub-y thing to do

He's annoying to fight for sure. But if you actually play him and go against someone with strong reactions, you'll find it can be hard to get out of neutral as you don't have any dedicated opener. However, once HL is in his stance and has a full head of steam. He might be the scariest character in the game
He’s pretty good, but I think he just has a cracked player base from the pre rework days so
I always have trouble with his kick and kick feinted to grab. It seems like whenever I react and dodge, it doesn't matter because they track my ass anyway. It's so absurd, I sometimes wonder if they have a secret undodgable property. Or I just suck.
Late to the party but yeah, canceling the kick into a grab does have slight tracking, dodge too early and they'll grab you 90% of the time
No people need to just stop complaining on highlander and learn to fight them cause I find rep 1500 people with rep 80 highlanders all the time and I 9/10 win

Same goes for Hito then. She’s extremely easy to counter if you know how to fight her. It’s my personal favorite matchup because I usually win. She has objectively way less going for her too.

Yeah highlander can feint his kick now, so all I did was very quickly feint and then immediately parried, simple as that 😁
I feel Highlander is right in that sweet spot where he's stronger than a lot of heroes, but weaker than others. Right in the middle. I'm not 100% on it, but that's how I see him perform in my experience.

Highlander is at his best when he's in Offensive Stance. Funnily enough thats where he's the most oppressive. All of his tools in that stance make him a menace. 400ms lights, feintable UB and bash mixups, etc.
The only problem is getting into OS. With back step light gone, he has no reliable way of getting into OS. For a competent player, keeping HL out of OS is not that difficult

They need to fix the lock on system. When youre fighting someone & unlock to maneuver but lock onto a guy on the behind you when hes no where near your vision is stupid but when u need to lock onto someone infront of of you spam the lock till you either just get it or die.
as a highlander main for the past 5 years i can happily say that he's an actually viable character to play now you can do more than 2 mix ups and honestly he's fun. to say he's op i think is exaggerating yes he's good but in no way do i think he's OP. I mean look at VG, and Afeera they're op

Honestly highlander doesnt need a nerf its all about whos using him and if you can use him good its really not easy to get highlander down playing him is a pain in the ass but you just have to make good reads like with shaman, orochi, etc.

Nah, fuck Highlander. One thing to have a faintable bash, but to have a faintable bash into another, borderline tracking bash is insane. One of his previous buffs stays, the others should go. Either he gets the bash changes, or the dodge attack in offensive stance, or the heavy on guard break. Maybe 2 stay and one goes, but one should definitely go.

HL is the same as before. F tier if you play braindead S tier of you put the time in but, just with better mix. I may get this term wrong so i apologize if i do but i believe all the rework did was just lowered the skill ceiling and uped the skill floor.
He's definitely a fantastic character for skilled players, offering a perfect mix of power and strategy.
I have 100 % win rate with him tho i’ve only played seven matches with him.
all highlander is is a big buff guy with a big sword, of course he hurts alot but has a high stamina cost and somewhat of a skill cieling needed to use him due to the stances
I have one main issue with hl and that is that the ub resets hitstun it allows for some really stupid ganks other than that he is fine pretty solid ones except for against the top tiers and a meta pick for dom also average 2s

I feel he’s brain dead now, got 50 reps on him then the rework hit and I haven’t played him since. Feels too free. He can attack nonstop for so long now. And all you have to do to get kills is press buttons.
Wish they just gave heavy on GB and feintable kick. (and I guess remove backstep light and wave dash) would’ve been so happy, actually winning games because of skill and game knowledge.

I’ll be 1000 percent honest I’ve been having an easier time fighting HL now than before the rework. Don’t know if maybe I’m just getting better at the game or what but the only thing that gets me is the kick feint every once in awhile. Kick vs caber is pretty easy to differentiate and get a free gb.

Highlander's got a nice moveset available to him, but I dont ever feel like I was bullshitted. I just know that I dont really understand the nuances of Highlander.

In my opinion a nerf is not necessary For me it is balanced and I don't use it but I have a lot of fun fighting it and if they are good even better (I say it from Main PK). The only thing I would nerf is the almost invisible guard breaker of which I would increase the milliseconds a bit, if it were more reactive to counter it would make everything even more fun than it currently is
The only thing I think is op is his 34 DMG (I believe it was 34) dodge forward bash. Medjays bash only does 20 ... Other than that he seems alright. The reason they made Medjays 20 DMG is because in 4v4, everyone can throw a top heavy to add to the DMG. So why's isn't Highlanders 20. Even 25 wouldn't be too bad.
I'm not saying Highlander is op, because I have yet to lose to one, but the DMG is just kinda over tuned a little
I believe all his offensive heavies are 26 dmg tho the dmg was 30 which got nerfed with rework

Maybe in the future they could play around with the idea in TG but for now we needa do something about dodge cancels because they carry some people to win games that they shouldn’t win

In my opinion that is a well balanced character. He has an amazing advantage state but suffers in neutral and disadvantage. If he never got a neutral opener it wouldn't be the end of his viability or fun. Unlike some lower tier characters who absolutely need that and more

Ik i haven't really played in forever cuz the shugoki rework right after their continuous downfall of constant updates and reworks with all characters... (literally replaced everything for moves on shugoki tho, fuck them) but Highlander was the shit. Every video I've seen, and everytime I get back into it, and played with friends who have stayed up to date with the game... it's gone to shit. But, glad to see people are still passionate about these characters. Regardless if Ubisoft is trying to yank the ball bag of the consumer.
I think his ceiling is pretty damn high people love to discredit the character cause he’s got an annoying kit for new/novice players. The real high level landers change between stances like no one’s business and it’s NOT fun as a warden main 😂😅

If anything he needs a buff to be more lore accurate (I'd prefer a kit rework in all honesty, stop making greatswords slow hunks of steel in games, they're actually hella graceful and quick weapons)

Lightlander isn't OP, just very annoying. Most people who play him don't even use the new stuff in his kit. They just spam bashes and unblockables. I've only seen less than a handful use the neutral grab, kick feint, or his offensive stance dodge attack.

I do not think Highlander is OP. I main Tiandi, Warlord and Shinobi and can easily defeat it.
What happens with these heroes that have a great amount of mixups is that you have to "listen" more to them. You have to observe and find the patterns, take your distance and interrupt them or get out of the way when appropriate.
Happens the same with the Centurion. In fact, they have exactly the same amount of mixups, in a similar fashion, kind of.
You cannot expect the same tactic to work against every opponent. For Honor is about adaptation and pattern reading.
I even think that Highlander's side-dodge into heavy should be buffed with more s.
This character is pretty weak against any well managed hero with dodge recovery skills (pirate, orochi, tiandi, shinobi, etc). You can punish with lights almost any single opener and get out of the way before the following damage comes, then punish that move as well 😂
So HL is not OP. We're just not used to fighting him as much as we were because no one was playing him in the sorry state he was before the rework, in my opinion.
It is a funny hero to use and I will pick it up soon to put another 10 reps on it 🎉

Conq is just not viable anymore. The damage he gets from his full block is ridiculous for the risk taken. Take aramusha and varangian full block as comparison... so sad
I think HL is just an annoyance rather than overtuned. Since it's easier to enter OS, players have become so dependent on OS lights. It is sad to see a char's skill ceiling plummet. It's even sadder to see most players bandwagon and spam one tool in HL's kit that only depends on a fraction of a brainstem.
Highlander is definitely not balanced, but I also only have 100 rep so..

I think Highlander is OP. But I also think that there is a big difference between OP and broken. And OP characters in good hands can destroy anyone with ease. A broken character is one that can win even if he play wrong.
From my point of view I think the characters could be consider as OP are: Highlander, Warden, Kensei, Shaolin, etc. The characters that I would say that are completely and absolutly broken are: Afeera, Shinobi, Orochi, Hitokiri or Pirate.
I think the gladiator was mostly referring in that aspect when he say that Highlander is OP and I think everyone in this comment section can agree with this.
