I love that there's no manufactured Drama within the relationship. Charlie and Nick always talk. They're always honest. And they work together. It's lovely.
I love that you didn’t immediately peg Nick as gay and said he was not straight because as a bisexual we get erased so often (even in the queer community) and this was lovely to see! We too go through a queer awakening and it’s hard but can be seen as though we are not queer enough or not straight enough for any community.
Part of the joy of watching this is the realization by episode 4 and 5 is there is no "thriller" portion of the show. Not only will the boys not get caught kissing or anyone blackmail them, but they communicate instead of hiding secrets!
The thing I love the most about Nick and Charlie is that they don't hide stuff from e/o, communicate well and just... really love e/o. With some couples, they keep on hiding things, are very insecure and pour this in their relationships instead of just talking things through, which hinders what they have. With Nick and Charlie, even though both have their own personal struggles and deal with them in different ways, they always rely on one another, are not afraid to be honest and go through the struggles together. It's refreshing, really, and proof that we can have a love story about a couple without all of that toxic and annoying bs, and still be interesting and engaging.
The tears are the most important reason why this set of reactions is so much better than the rest. Too many reactors aren't comfortable crying on camera, and some even pause when they're obviously about to break up & then restart the vid all cleaned up. That is just SO wrong. We're here _specifically_ for the extreme feelings that the show evokes. Thank you Niall for your genuine unconcealed emotions.
Did you notice when Tao asked the rules on rugby and all say no but Isaac say yes, he is reading a book about a gay rugby player coming out 😉 and i love episode 6 🥰 it's good to see Nick ask the right question and talked to the right people
I am one of your "bitter old gays" and I've enjoyed your reactions. I was 46 when I came out and have a weird relationship with this show. I am both overjoyed for this generation and envious of it at the same time.
the bittersweet feeling you get watching this show is so relatable. i’m in university now and while i feel so happy and fulfilled seeing such well-written, uplifting queer stories, at the same time i feel a bit of emptiness and longing for a situation in which i had positive lesbian representation and i could have actually come out in high school. i think for us slightly older queer people (even if we’re only a couple years out of school) watching this show feels like living vicariously through these characters who are finally experiencing what we were unjustly deprived of all these years…i feel so joyful watching shows like this, but i also feel pity and heartache for my younger self, how she didn’t get to have this same experience. i’ve been loving your reactions because i really relate to the sort of joyful-frustrated-bittersweet emotions and i appreciate you expressing all the different thoughts and feelings you have while watching :) also i think you would really love the heartstopper books, you should definitely check them out while we all wait for season 2 to drop!!

The only thing cuter than "Heartstopper" is YOU watching it and smiling and crying! You're adorable, and you reacted the same way I did, with a combination of joy and sadness, because I never got the chance to experience what Nick and Charlie have, but also because I never had a show like this to help me feel less alone. I'm an older gay guy (not so bitter), but I'm thrilled to see such a quality show become embraced by so many people around the world. And yes, I'd be interested in watching your reaction to "Brokeback Mountain", mostly because it's a beautiful film and Heath Ledger is amazing, but also because people need to understand the real struggles we faced in previous years. But it's truly heartbreaking, so you may not want to subject yourself to it again.

In the comics not all of Nicks friends are assholes... he has 3 friends who realise he likes Charlie and are supportive. Christian, Otis and Sai. I wish the show put them in properly. They are in the show... but you don't really know.

i'm here from the future and happy to report that (assuming those three rugby lads are those three characters) they are in season 2! and hopefully we'll see more of their friendship with Nick and Charlie in season 3!
Imogen is one of my favourite characters of the show too. I understand from the HS season 2 announcement trailer that she will take care more of herself than of the boys. it will be interesting to see her evolve.

Great reaction mate. As to coming out in school, I came out at 12 in 1975 (Yup, I'm an Elder Gay LOL) and it was horrific. The bullying wasn't just words, it was violence, a lot of it. Then, just as things were getting tolerable GRIDS came along in '78 and thus began the plague. It might sound odd to hear this, but for a lot of us from that time who are still here, it's both a blessing and a bittersweet time; seeing the progress made to the point where a show like this, Young Royals etc. are made without much in the way of fuss. Still, I'll never regret fighting all those years and, sadly, still needing to, especially with our Trans family being persecuted in the US. Sorry for the long post, it's just nice to see what has followed from when I was a young gayling.

I love Brokeback Mountain so much. The writing, the performances...but it is SHATTERING. And then Heath Ledger's death a few years later. But that scene at the end with the shirt. Gah.
I think Nick still hangs around them because he still has some friends in the rugby team plus there is no real avoiding them because they are on the rugby team and he’s captain
That one scene, after Charlie's birthday, when Nick talks to Imogen is SO STRONG, so POWERFUL and so human and real that I think pretty much everyone can relate to it at some level, no matter what their sexuality is. Doubts and the unwanted "need" to fit in with someone else's expectations is hard and it can be devastating at any age, but specially when you are developing yourself as a person during your teen years. These three episodes have very nice and lovely scenes, the confession of "one of his favorite days", I mean come on, I FELT IT OVER HERE, of course it was your favorite days ever! It was beautiful! (Never getting over the snow day scene from ep 2). Finally, I agree so much with you when you say "we all were there once" because yeah, one way or another, we all were there once, experiencing the fear but the excitement of telling someone else that we like this or that, or we met someone or started going out. It's a lovely, despite the fears that come with it.
I'm bi myself and I don't get that "Bisexuals are greedy" thing. We are potentially attracted to people regardless of their gender, that doesn't mean we want them all. It doesn't mean we're promiscous.

u also see in this scene at the table when they both say hi to each other there eyes contact to each other are doing the talking for them and there body language telling us they like each other with out talking and how happy they are and the communication and there connection are so spot on
Loved the inclusive friend group so much! We got the lesbian couple, the trans girl, and the straight cis guy, and the cis guy (because idk Issac's sexuality so not gonna assume)

it's a weird way to feel but take solace in the fact that you are definitely, 100%, not alone in those feelings towards the show lol

That one scene, after Charlie's birthday, when Nick talks to Imogen is SO STRONG, so POWERFUL and so human and real that I think pretty much everyone can relate to it at some level, no matter what their sexuality is. Doubts and the unwanted "need" to fit in with someone else's expectations is hard and it can be devastating at any age, but specially when you are developing yourself as a person during your teen years.
These three episodes have very nice and lovely scenes, the confession of "one of his favorite days", I mean come on, I FELT IT OVER HERE, of course it was your favorite days ever! It was beautiful! (Never getting over the snow day scene from ep 2).
Finally, I agree so much with you when you say "we all were there once" because yeah, one way or another, we all were there once, experiencing the fear but the excitement of telling someone else that we like this or that, or we met someone or started going out. It's a lovely, despite the fears that come with it.
I'm bi myself and I don't get that "Bisexuals are greedy" thing. We are potentially attracted to people regardless of their gender, that doesn't mean we want them all. It doesn't mean we're promiscous.

i love this scene when nick run to char house in the rain to talk to him and u can see the glow and the sparks in there eyes. and nick done so well in this scene telling charlie how he is feeling and i love how charlie put his arms around him and hug him and how he going to be so suppotive and help nick though this because he been there and he knows how he feeling and. i love when nick kiss charlie and he stand on this tip toes its so nice to see if u rember in frist episode charlie said he want sameone taler well he has it and when charlie run to nick and kiss him in the rain and he say hi and then saying bye and then he run off u can see sun flare across nick face and u can also see on nick face he was happy.
