Where's the sign for Mickey Rooney's Potato Fantasy? I loved eating at that place!

Side-by-side Churchies on the revolving sign and billboard for Church's Chicken. Kroger also had a revolving sign, as well as another business I can't identify. Also noteworthy were a billboard for Area 5 (KXAS or WBAP?), a bus ad for KRLD Radio taking a stab at the Dallas Morning News which owned WFAA (KRLD had been separated from the Times Herald before this), and The Prince of Hamburgers.

So was that Wycliff at Lemmon Ave? Looks kinda' like it, but there's not a recognizable feature I can see. Looks like the sign ordinance didn't work. Dallas has been cluttered with signs from that time until now.

Like looking at the way the city looked then. Yeah, I noticed Lemmon Ave and Mahanna up near Inwood also.

The McDonald’s and KFC are still there… and that’s about it. There are fewer signs on Lemmon now. Not sure if that was the ordinance, or just those rotating, blinking monstrosities going out of style. You don’t really need signs anymore now that everyone carries a map around on their phone and they aren’t cruising aimlessly for a place to eat or buy something.

Amazingly, the KFC is still there. Well, a KFC is there. That’s almost certainly not the same building that was there in 1973. Still, it’s fairly amazing that the same fast food chain has had a restaurant there for 50+ years.

I bet most viewers watching this could care less about “visual pollution”, and more about what they could’ve gotten in that Steak Chalet for $2.99, like a juicy steak, baked potato, salad, and roll with butter.
