FST is an innovative, pain-free & rapidly effective manual & movement therapy. It was originally created for athletes when Ann Frederick was a graduate assistant in the athletic department at ASU (Arizona State University) in 1995.
After Ann's husband Chris Frederick joined her in 1999, FST has evolved into one of the fastest & most effective methods to change movement patterns, gain strength & flexibility & eliminate pain for patients & clients of physicians, therapists, trainers & many other professionals.

It’s a big testimony to the technique (compared to isolate muscle approaches) that he can get up and perform at that level directly afterwards.

I believe Thai massage is the original - and no straps required.

This work is totally different than Thai massage, regardless of straps or no straps. One is not better than the other and do different things for different people. Thai massage is given credit in our book, Fascial Stretch Therapy, as one of several different ancient systems with stretching techniques. However it is much easier to stretch people on a table than the floor, especially as the practitioner gets older.

@@StretchToWinInstitute The positions demonstrated here are identical to Thai mx from 2500 years ago. Two things that are very disconcerting to me as a viewer: 1)speed of this demonstration. Speed significantly increases injury to the client and therapist. Effective , deep, fascial line stretching is done ***slowly.**** Height: Traditional thai mx is done on a mat that allows total movement of freedom with no need to adjust the body and prevent it from falling off a table (Hence your use of straps to lock the client onto a table). What I see here is a money maker to "certify/brand" fascial stretching to therapists and the public. Take away the trademark branding and it is Thai massage - plain and simple. It reminds me of what ART (Active Release Therapy) has done; taking basic pin & stretch techniques that every mx therapist learns in school, and brand it and sell it to the public as "new & improved." Therapists and chiros must be registered as a ART practitioner in their directory as "certified" and pay yearly dues. It's not healthcare. It's economics. As a side note, I am a mx therapist of 10 years+... just my opinion of course. Have a great day.

@@magma9138 Thanks for your reply. This demo falls into the category of quick dynamic stretching that is done immediately before athletic activity. Therefore, the intent is not to lengthen or to relax which weakens the body before sports but to stimulate proprioception and neuromyofascial activation. This is NOT a demonstration of therapeutic, recovery or medically applied stretching which we do gently, slowly, creating a safe healing space for the client. This video does not go into that kind of stretching, which we reserve as private instructional videos for our students only.
The body only moves so many ways. Just because some stretches look similar on video does not mean the intention, action, feeling or consequence is the same. Your judgement about this technique being a money maker reflects your lack of understanding of what we actually depicting, which is an isolated tiny snapshot of one demo of a very different type of stretching for a specific reason. This has been used by us with great success at Super Bowls and the Olympics, so your experience with ART, healthcare and economics is unfortunate but not relevant to my video, what we do or who we are. It reflects your anger with selling out which we understand and agree with...we are not the enemy. Have a great day.

Actually no it is not. While this may be true with traditional stretching, one of our 10 Principles is perform stretching with NO pain. This is clearly stated in our books. Thanks for your comment!
