Finally an Oberheim synthesizer made to my preferences. This fine demo (and many others) where you can hear how the TEO-5 sounds and how versatile it is, has convinced me that the Oberheim TEO-5 is a synth I must have in my studio setup.
I think you will do it justice given your track record of patches, looking forwards to them. I'll ask you in advanced, do you think you would be able to mimic some Flash Gordon stuff done by Queen in the 80s?
@@scottmcauleysounds Love theme from Flash Gordon is what I am talking about, it has a dreamy pad that slowly pans from left to right which I would assume is done by an lfo, I've heard it replicated on a OBX8 so just wondering if it can be done. If yes, this synth will be an insta buy for me xD
@@OzanTurgay It depends on what type of sound you want, but the Teo 5 has that SEM filter, hard to get @ the asking of the Teo 5. Take 5 is a very widely used filter.
Obviously, the Thomas E. Oberheim 5 first. Then you can decide whether it's worth all the extra dollar for one more voice, or spend that money on something else.
@@Donetur I’ve had all the Oberheims through here. OB-X8 is the pick of the modern offerings, but pricey. People who want something super- portable might look at the other two, options. The OB-X8 doesn’t sound as nice as the vintage Oberheims, but it’s the nearest thing to them.
@@kierenmoore3236 I see. I own a Prophet 10 rev 4 and I wanted another high range synth. I liked the experience, I was capable of getting great sounds out of it and I plan to sell a library. I own more gear as well, but I never owned an Oberheim and I love its sound judging by the demos. I may need to sell synth if I want to add the Oberheim, per space limitation, and that may be my Yamaha SK20. But I will try to keep it, even though it is simple, it really can add that vintage sound to a track.
@@BeepsAndBeats It's you that's willfully ignorant, I was speaking of lower bass registers, which the UBXa has almost none, why is that? That's like saying the OPSIX and MODWAVE is a clone of the WAVESTATE, that's you being willfully ignorant.
For my ears sounds better than the Behringer one. Btw I still stuck with my Behringer VC-340, is broken and Behringer doesn’t take care of it. No more Behringer gear more than $350.00 for me. 😊
wow that's horrible to hear, especially when they state 3 year warranty. This is why i get some stuff from Thomann who bypass bs warranties. That's the Vangelis track you did it with yes? @@DankePlace yeah I got your point. On the Vangelis track it was use both, the VC-340 and the Behringer Solina. And did you like your DM12? Or is ok. You have ADAT?, damn I remember those in the 90s 😊
@@fjfrancois DM12 is surprisingly robust for what it offers, it's the desktop so I do away with the crappy keybed. For what I paid for it, I want to sell it but there is nothing that can replace it for the same money or the money I get from the sale. Menu diving isn't too bad but the UI is so so. Same here man. I have a few Behringer synths, but no way I’m dropping over 1k on a Behringer synth. The Poly D is as expensive as it gets for me for Behringer. Initially I did consider the UBXA, but after some rational thought I came to the conclusion that I can grab a used DSI or Sequential synth for the same price. And there is a difference, the UBXA lacks meat and heft.

This is dope! Hoping to get one before the world blows up.
lmao me too

Really looking forward to receiving mine!! Sounds amazing!!

The playing on preset 8 was brilliant
Nice to see Jack on the keys 🎹 Thanks for sharing guys
I like the chromatic abberation
3:45 Lorn fans where you at
I want to buy Ob6 but I am not sure because of Teo-5.
TEO5 has the real OBX filter
Get both ;) It seems they're not too similar so I might get this one too.

Please make these patches available for purchase!
I wonder how this compare sonically with the OB-X8. It sounds great in the demos anyway but I don’t own any of them.
why do you care to know
Not well, unfortunately. But it’s a lot cheaper!!

Baby size & sounds super cool & BIG!
I'm sure my eyesight must be going or did I need 3D glasses for this one? :-/
I was wondering the same thing. There’s definitely a weird filter on the whole video.
Which is distracting btw!! Wow.
Agree
Nope. After your comment, I actually tried 3D glasses 😎 didn't work 😢
