Being in Tulsa, I went to Jr. High and High School with David even though he was a year ahead of me, its been fun watchng his career bloom into such a great career. Not surprising at all and he's a really nice guy to boot.
I fell in love with his voice, music and looks when I was 13. I listened to their popular album after school while doing my homework. In my 50s now still love Bread and David 🎉
I love this interview. Besides having a beautiful voice & lots of talent, David Gates is such a sweet and genuine person. You can see it in his eyes, which by the way are also beautiful!
Two of the greatest gentleman of all time ..... its sad that the music is not the same as it once was such love went into Dave's music it was a time when people were much more happier and no such thing as rap music and teaching people to hate and kill cops and so on yes these days are long gone !!!!!
@spacepatrolman ... Hey thanks for the info! That is really interesting. It's amazing how the vinyl record works, but I wonder if shallow grooves were an issue for their compilation album ? They sure were a great band.
Come on now - David Gates is American - originally from Tulsa Oklahoma where he was associated with Leon Russell for a time. How American is that? Bread were California based. David Gates last I heard had a ranch in Northern California. I have no update on that. James Griffin, Larry Knectel and Michael Botts of the final Bread line-up - all died in pretty quick succession. Original member Robb Royer last reported in Nashville.

He sounds like such a sweet man. So gentle and gracious. Dick Clark was also an amazing man. Love to see clips like this.
David Gates is an amazing artist and human being. Very few people like him. Humble man. Love his music. So much heart.
David Gates has become one of my musical heroes. I'd really like to meet him.
