Amazing work, I always love seeing the outcome. I suppose it's kinda like a lottery, whether the films been exposed to light or only partially used. Then again seeing unseen photographs cancels out that possibility for me. Being an avid vintage camera collector (and user!) I always come across cameras with exposed spools inside. I really need to get into self developing. My latest purchase, a Kodak from 1902, has a roll of exposed film inside but I get the feeling it may not have stood the test of time. Nevertheless, thanks for the vids!
The oldest roll I've successfully developed was from 1914. The negatives were very thin (low contrast); but, images were still recovered which I think is amazing.
I find it very interesting that you used Diafine to develop 616 film. I recall that Diafine was a "speed developer" for Tri-X Pan back in the day, suggesting that E.I. 2400 was possible. Divided developers and leaking inversion developing tank make for an interesting developing session.;) That's why I retired the plastic, non-invertible Yankee tank of the 1960's as soon as I could afford Nikor or Kindermann stainless steel developing tanks. Did you use a "hypo clearing agent" like Perma Wash, since film washing time was a short 5 minutes? (I'm not sure if Kodak's Hypo Clearning Agent is still made) The subjects may be mundane, but the setting makes one wonder when/where this family trip happened. (That's why I always developed my blaclk-and-white film promptly, to trigger memories and context.)
Hello! I'm writing for you from Hungary! Very great stuff, with these films! My friend find an old film, Granville Gulliman Finachrome 127 film. Can you give me some advise what kind of chemical can is be develepoing? :) We are excited about what we find. :) Thx! :)
Hi, I have bought a Kodak Jiffy Serie II 616 few weeks ago with a film inside... So, would you like to develop it for me and make a video with it?? The film is a Kodacolor C-22. Would you be able to develop it in color or only black&white??
I love these videos! I wish there were more of these. Are you still developing vintage film?
Is 616 basically 116 on a different type spool? Like 620 and 120?
