Don Walser was a Genius, flat out! Not sure how as a life-long upstate NY resident I got hooked up with Walser recording 30 years ago - but I count myself blessed that I did! His love for music, and his love for Texas come out in every note and every yodel. Thanks so much for posting this.

Was privileged to have seen Mr. Walser at a little club called Johnny D's in Somerville, MA back in the late 90's.
Had been planning to go, and was really excited, but I had screwed up the dates in my head. Was sitting in a restaurant with my then girlfriend, thinking the show was the following night - then saw the date and realized it was THAT night, in about an hour. We had just ordered dinner, but wasn't going to have time to eat it, so I threw some money down on the table to pay for our meal, and left to go to the show. We were cutting it close time wise, so didn't even wait for a to-go order. Just threw the money down and left - best money I ever spent.
It was a great show. It was a small club, and Mr. Walser really engaged with the audience. So glad I got to see him.

I was fortunate enough to see Don perform live in Austin in mid-90s. I was in town on a business trip, and I asked my hosts if they knew who Don Walser was. They did, and said he was performing live at a place on 6th street (can't remember the name). I asked if they would take me there. We went, and it was a fantastic performance - an experience I've never forgotten.

I lived in Austin during the 90's, and consider myself a music fanatic. There's no telling how many times I saw Don during that time, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I've spilt more than a few tears in my beers when he ended a show with Danny Boy. He knew who he was, what he could do, and he did it better than anyone I've ever seen. Essential Texas country music artist!

I was interested to see Stuart Coleman commenting- he was a good friend of one of my friends and they were in a band called Hurricane in the early 70s but the album was never released. The album is now up on YT under the Carlo Little channel. Carlo was the drummer and many think he was Britain's best ever rock and roll drummer- Keith Richards thought that- Carlo was the Stone's first drummer and got them Charlie Watts. Great documentary.
