    I’ve got a 1964 super major diesel it isn’t pretty but is a solid machine that does everything I ask of it and is super reliable

    Another trick we used to use back in the day on a really cold morning was to remove the air intake mushroom and put your hand over the inlet just allowing the minimum amount of cold air in until she fired up. Used to work every time.

    Fordsons are sturdy and great tractors. I have 1955 Major(turbo), and wouldn't never get rid of it. Regards from Finland 😀

      Very cool! They are actually really common over here in Canada, they are fairly easy to come by

    Use the excess fuel button for every cold start.

    How long does it usually take to start on freezing cold mornings? Does it take longer when it hasn't been used for several days? Has it got a choke?

      Cold days its usually plugged in, starts right up. No choke, but it does have a little fuel primer button on the injection pump.

    Is your loader operated off tractor hydraulics or has it got its own hydraulic oil tank.

    • @Darian-mk1bw
      @Darian-mk1bw  ปีที่แล้ว

      It has its own tank just off to the right of the controls

    What year is your tractor? I'm looking at one and having hard time finding information about it. Says Super Major on hood but from information I have found everything is questionable. Read they were first built in 61. Supposedly to get a starter had to get for a 50 something. Didn't see diff lock pedal. But I read all super majors had diff lock. And same for 3pt. This one doesn't have 3pt. But it came with a backhoe. Appears to be same loader you have. Dash and all look same. And specs all say 36 " tires. This one has 30. Mainly was wanting to ask you about something on it. Underneath just about rear of bellhousing there is a cylindrical shaped piece with a shaft coming out towards the rear of tractor. Shaft has a flat spot with a hole as if to connect to linkage. There is nothing connected to it. Do you have any idea what this may be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      I'm not entirely sure on the year of this one myself. The old guy that used to own it on my farm claimed 1962 if I remember right. I'm not sure about that shaft as I have never been underneath this tractor and looked in detail haha

    • @nwhitten7306
      @nwhitten7306 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cylindrical shaft could be for engaging the pto if there's one fitted on your tractor

      @@nwhitten7306 Thank you. That's what it is. Just doesn't have lever or linkage. Think it may have diff lock also. Looks like pedal was cut off to clear the frame for the backhoe. Looks like I can weld something on it with a bit of modification to have it operational. Now if I could just figure out a way the hood can open and not have to remove the whole thing hinges and all. The loader frame is in the way of doing as intended. But it's a good running old tractor. Again, thanks for the input.

    Your practically running on half an engine, get your injectors out and down to a diesel shop.

      Seems to run fine for me 🤷‍♂️ Lots of power, just smokes a while, then stops. I believe the engine has been rebuilt once already

      I was guessing that for it seems to have compression on all by listening, but that one blowing blue unburned fuel{being it's cold}, and hearing that miss.
