I've really enjoyed all the Stargate movies and TV shows and actually rewatching some of the movies now on YT but one of the things that doesn't seem to make sense and has always bothered me is they find this ring shaped relic object laying flat buried in the sand and first thing they do is tie randomly spaced ropes around it and stand it up on edge which would have put possible forces on causing it to break into at least a couple pieces probably more. What were they thinking?
