Andrea McLean is one of those people you already feel as though you know. Not least because she's been a familiar face on British television for two decades but because she has such an easy, warm, open and welcoming way with everyone she meets. And let me tell you, in the flesh, this magnetism is even more charming than you could imagine. She is also blessed with a dry wit and an excellent side-eye!
After years anchoring the liveliest panel on TV, the prime-time show Loose Women, she is now focused on her website and app This Girl is On Fire, which focuses on supporting women (and soon men) through midlife. It's not just her day job, it's a calling. Having navigated her own mental health struggles, crises of confidence and a constant drive to want to do better and be better, Andrea is committed to passing on and sharing everything that has worked for her with those who feel the same.
I open each podcast by asking my guest 'what's your relationship like with risk?' and, as you can imagine, Andrea's answer, as someone who walked away from one of the most coveted jobs for women in broadcasting, is an incredible one... We discuss being in bad relationships, trying to make a bad thing work, knowing when to listen to advice - and when to ignore it - and why admitting you're wrong can sometimes be the greatest gift.
Andrea was so open and honest and I'm thrilled to share this conversation with you...

"Are you getting in your own way? You might not even realise you are. I didn’t, but by the time I hit my late 30s, the way I thought and lived was so life-limiting that I’d backed myself into a corner and I was horribly lost; mentally, physically and emotionally. I was the Queen of self-sabotage and the only way out was to admit I didn’t have all the answers, wipe my slate clean and look at the world through other people’s eyes. And that’s how The Emma Guns Show was born. Each week I chat to guests from different backgrounds, expertise and industries to find out how they overcame their insecurities, tapped into their potential and started to live authentically. They generously share their success stories without sugar-coating the failures so you can become the best version of yourself."

I miss you on Loose Women. I hope your future goes like you want.
Andrea is a Super strong woman, after all her ups and downs in what is called "life"she is living her choices.Good Luck and I wish for you all good things.
😂😂😂😂
@@jamieleigh807 you seem happy for her, with the happy smiles, also, good luck to you and have a nice life.
Its not a risk like normal people this woman needs to come back down to earth. Let her make the same wage as us and see if she still 'takes the huge risk". News flash! Its not a risk if you quit your job and still have enough in the bank to make no money at all and still live in luxury compared to the rest of us
It's a risk for her though yes or no?
You don't know how much money she has in the bank. She did take a risk because it wasn't a guaranteed success. She talks about how she planned it out and made sure she had enough money for this and that because she is a sensible, logical person. Good for her. I do understand what you mean when you say she is in an easier situation than a lot of people and may not have taken that risk if she didn't have savings etc but so what!! It's still a risk!!!!!! Honestly, the bitterness of some people is shocking!
@@Emma-ub5db People love to assume so much dont they🤣
@@georgia8592 Absolutely!!! Like they know the actual person or have met them them through a second cousins best friend's sister-in-law!!! 😂😂I would just like to see more support for people who have clearly put a lot of work into something and achieved something great. It takes less effort to be a positive person!
That's an awful lot of resentment there. Need to take a look at yourself rather than having a go at successful people.
I love Andrea, she did what was right for her, Money? Some people are comfortably off others are not it’s the way the world is.
I hope she is successfully she has took big risk you hv learn by your mistake
I think she regrets it.
Yep
They should scrap 'Loose Women' it's run it's course.
I’ve read some of these comments and I’m so shocked by some of the responses. Ok working in television you do earn more than minimal wage of course you do. Infact if you’re careful you can really take advantage and invest carefully. But this woman will not have earned millions. She will have earned a decent amount but she’s admitted previously she’s been in financial turmoil before she quit LW so she really was putting herself on the line by leaving. And listening to this she clearly regrets leaving her career in TV. She’s not someone who TV bosses are generally looking for, she’s too shy, kind and highly sensitive so I think ITV were probably glad for some new blood. However I do wish her well. I don’t think charging women £1500 for an online course is going to make her any money. I think she’ll struggle majorly.
I guess it’s hard to put yourself in someone else’s shoes but I could not imagine quitting a job where I have to work probably 10 hours a week and get paid what, 200-300k? Mental
Exactly my point. Its like comparing this to a person jumping out of a window on to a bouncy castle...in comparisson to jumping out a window with pure concrete at the end. Yes they are both "brave" and "risky" but one will be eay more likely to be destroyed. Andrea literally has thousands to fall back on. Dont tell me she works harder than the rest of us people who have not made that money. Some of us never stood a chance, im not knocking her for trying im just saying she doesnt have much to lose her life is already set up for her. We have all taken risks and due to life circumstances and lack of suppprt and money etc we have fallen flat on our face. Without grands and grands in the bank. But yes well done Andrea, you deserve that more than the window cleaner, bin man, the shop keeper because you are so " brave" and only successful because you are so " hard working" .

I get what you mean, but just to get technical, it's not 10 hours a week. The days that they film are full working days with meetings, pre-recording voice overs, promos doing interviews, etc. And then they have additional meetings on the days they're not recording. But I totally take your point, she's very privileged to be in that position earning that amount of money, the fact that she could leave it all shows where she's already positioned in life.
Yep
People quit their jobs everyday. Get a grip!
I really admire Andrea taking the leap of faith, but disappointed in her 'help' for others now comes at a huge cost for anyone trying to access. It's not accessible to the majority of women due to cost. Huge disappointment.
What is it that she's doing now?
She was mad to give that job up, are we supposed to feel, sorry for her?
Nope
Corporate work pr work for brands dropped
That’s the look of regret I’ve seen that face across life she may not admit it but she regrets it deep down
She’ll be back on ‘Loose Women’ when she divorces her husband - the one who quit his ‘career’ the moment they got married.
A mortgage in her 50's? Wow, that's unusual with a decent salary. Must have a massive house or doesn't budget well 😮
Millionaire quits work
Cringe af
husband is a control freak....she left LW cos of him...poor woman...
No she left because she wanted to do more
@@aprilgosa5779 - that's not true - husband didn't like her being on the tellie - hence he pushed her into the nonsense she's doing now - earning a fraction of what she was earning before .....
@@davedavis7589 how do you know that information? Do you know them personally lol
@@davedavis7589 what does she do now? I've not heard anything of her since she left
Doesn’t she prattle on!ffs
Talking as if living pay check to pay check, when in reality has hundreds of thousands, if not millions banked, rather annoying really, what Risk,, hmm that will be NO RISK
AG yes she is she worked her way up
Don't believe she has a mortgage either
She’s a journalist - surely she realises by now the pandemic was a scam?
