    Today I'm going to share with you why I dropped out of college. To be honest, I think college is a scam. It's something that society tells you, that you need - but in reality...you simply don't. Dropping out of college is one of the smartest things I ever did in my life and I hope this video will give you some insight as to why i left school, and answer the one big question on your mind, "Should I go to college?"

    • @OneMeInMyself
      @OneMeInMyself 3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @@angely_tio here's what I think - go on a bit longer, and see if there are parts of your studies that you like. Shift the focus of your studies to a self-study: try to figure out _why_ you feel drained. Is it because the subject didn't turn out to be the right one, because you don't like the methods, because you don't have enough friends, because you feel like there's no one to talk to about your struggles, because you don't want to study at all but we're forced by your parents, etc...? Then try your best to find solutions. For many people on their first year it is just that it's such a big change in their lives that everything feels like it's too much. But many people then go through a process of finding themselves and emerge as transformed people, who can handle university and may even strive in it.
      Then, on the other hand, if you feel it deeply in your heart that university isn't for you and you only went because of external pressure, you may want to talk with those who pressured you. Try to find solutions.
      THERE IS A PATH THAT WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY! Always remember this and don't settle for anything less. But it might be really hard work to find this path, or to muster up the strength to actually walk this path.
      I hope this helps, feel free to reach out if you like to share more. 🌟
      I wish you the best!

      @@OneMeInMyself thank you so much for reaching out! i appreciate it deeply. i dropped out some days after i commented on this XD so far i think it has been very freeing for me. i think what drained me was the university itself. every second i was there, i wasn't at all fulfilled, i was constantly battling inside to say the least. the uni wasn't offering what i want and i wasn't taught anything, so i think why spend another 3 years? the second i am out, i feel like a huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders. now i am studying for a test to another university that i should have done a year ago, that supposedly can be better. i know the chance of me getting in isn't guaranteed, and i risk getting one year wasted. but i don't want to be in my last years of college and know inside me this is not the path i want from the very beginning. i am still confused and lost, trying to find my way, but i suppose i need to try first in order to know. it will get better, won't it? I lost my faith in the "magic of college" when my dad with multiple grad degrees in computer science and statistics couldn't get a single full time job during the recession. Believing college will magically make your future secure was just wishful thinking I didn't fall into- besides, $60,000 for an undergrad degree doesn't pay off to be worth starting adulthood so deeply in debt.

    Honestly wish I had just started working after high school. I'm lucky I didn't have loans, but I feel for people who fall into the college trap and get stuck with loans after they drop out. If you're not sure, don't go. Don't sign the loan, you will regret it. You'll have time for college later. Your parents will be mad, but they will be even more mad when you and them (as cosigner's) have to pay back that $20,000 or however much when you dropout 🤷‍♂️.

    University is so much more than just a way of earning financial security. It is a place to surround yourself with like-minded people with a lot of resources to develop life skills that you value or find completely new interests that will help you, not only in your work life but also life in general. It is truly a place of learning and you decide what to make of your life.

    This video was great. I dropped out of my community college after the first semester because, while although I liked the people I met and thought my classes were fine, it didn't feel right at all. I eventually want to be a writer/entertainer overall, and although I could spend all this money on an english degree, or take a screenwriting class, I don't have to. And after a full month( no I am not kidding) I decided to drop out and although my parents were pissed, and overall gave me the vibe that they have no faith in my choice, but I got a boost of clarity. I finally gained control over my life. I think your sentiment at the very end was well said, if you long to become a doctor, lawyer, police officer, etc. go to college. But if you aren't sure, or have a path that doesn't need college, don't waste the money just on the fact that your parents or counselors say it's the right thing to do. Make your life what you want, not what other's think you should want.
