The big problem with PoT is small fast dinos like Utah teleport everywhere and the only way to survive an encounter with a Utah pack is either be faster and smarter than them and run away or be a big apex like Giga or rex and go as deep into a body of water as you can without swimming and basically do what you did on the rock because then they either get hit by you or they get stuck swimming
All you have to do is be smart when your getting attacked. I was attacked by utahs as Rex and all I did was crouch down and bite with a couple tail swings, I was sub to so I could’ve died easily
Every time James chooses Giga, things often goes calm to eventful real fast. An amazing video as always, especially when Beaver just streamed a few hours ago.
As a POT player utahs can be quite annoying when you are a larger creature. My advice is use water not cliffs cause they can just jump off the cliffs without taking damage. In water you can stand in deeper water than they can so they have no way to kill you then.
sad part is that you shouldnt have to find advantages for yourself like that so often when you're up against them, someone shouldve tested and done something about this

We recently removed the Utahraptor mod from the Islander server. They were extremely broken and despite how popular they are they reduced the fun of everyone else in the server. They are especially overpowered vs bigger dinos who can't hit them while they jump around and pick you apart.
Yeah but in this case i also think the giga did not bite well with those utah either. The bite would often times be near point blank and miss. Other times a bite will often hit their tails and do nothing which can be fine.... But balance wise they should atleast be near one shot from an ADULT GIGA lol. With any hope things will only get better with time though ^^
On non communities after a death you lose one half of the 5 bars shown on screen when you spawn back in, so basically you lose nothing that's why official is preferable once fully grown and if you have patience to grow and know the quests. Love your content beav :)
Oh man I feel you 100% , happened to me once or twice , only thing you can really do is back yourself up to a river or pond and wait for them to jump in the water to chomp’em good. It will most likely change in the future like you said , it’s bad game design and they are modded dinosaurs so hopefully future updates will balance things!:)
4:01 On official servers you only lose half of a bar, if you die in a fight (thats roughly 4 minutes of growing). But if you die from falling you only lose 31 seconds of growth. So its forgiving in officials.
Also the normal bite really helps to attack quick. Having both bleeding bites means your bite attacks have high cooldown and can get baited by small fast things
One of my favorite parts of your videos are always watching people talk in global about whether or not you are THE REAL Beaver. Wonder how they feel when they see the video come out with a cameo of them vehemently arguing that you are a fraud. 😅 Which is why I've always kept my lip zipped whenever I've seen it actually happen in-game!

hi beaver! i really recommend playing on a server called auranea. its got faster passive growth as well as passive marks, so you don't really have to do quests if you don't want to. just a tip if you haven't played there yet :3
You should use the normal bite instead of the bleed bite because the normal bite does way more damage then the bleed bite. The normal bite also has a smaller cool-down.
I believe in you beaver. Fights in this game are longer than the isle and you often need a buddy or else you will be outmatched, especially for big boy apex’s. Knowing when to attack in this is weird to get used to, moves are slower and sometimes laggy, but still fun when you get the hang of it.
Just so you know raptors and things their size are just glitchy for some reason, doesn’t matter the server you’ll always cone across one that’s glitchy, and btw your using only bleed attacks, your bleeding them out a lot sure but your not really doing much damage, if you used the normal attack you woulda killed them in 2-3 hits, love your vids though keep up the good work!
Part of your problem is that you're using the bleed bite, bleed bite does less damage so it's a bit more balanced and normal bite can do more because it's just a bite. But they were rubber banding so it wasn't just the bite you used
15:40, you can't blame the game when modded in dinos aren't playing stably. Both the Utah's and the Giga aren't in the game by default from the dev's, so you get what you get.
I'd be mad too if I had to fight with that much lag I have saved myself with the cliff play in the past. Problem with that fight (aside from the lag) is that was less of a cliff and more of a ledge. Small and midsize carnivores have great ankles and not take fall damage from higher cliffs than that and are ATVs generally. Keep the content coming Beaver!
Recommend using official creatures, less laggy and more enjoyable becuase your attacks actually hit, btw every time you saw the utahs bleed it ment u hit them which i saw them bleed alot, also you should use the normal bite, which does 80 damage and since giga has 6800 or something combat weight you would be able to do lots of damage to the utahs, its a faster bite too, i think utahs are a three shot
The reason the pvp was a bit dodgy is because you need to be crouched and have your back right against a wall so you can be closer to them. and if they were glitching it is because the amount of people on the server at the time could be lagging it or its a modded dino so some glitches. But yes a pack utahs are very op if you are an apex. And in my opinion they should be one shot two shot kill if you are an apex.
Path of titans gives their dinosaurs a tail attack to avoid Tail riding they say light damage but weight is still a factor to keep in mind, the hit registration is bullshit in POT but time will only tell what happens with it, a good thing to remember is don't rely heavily on your bite if you have other attacks that can be used. not saying you should tail smack a trex but a charge or bite may work
I can definitely relate to the pain of lag. Especially that it affects smaller, faster dinos like utahs more... and they're all over the place. With that said I usually check the tick rate of a server on the community server list in the menu, and if it's below 20 I avoid playing on it to reduce chances of dying to lag.

beaver, the reason you died to those raptors isnt really the games fault. if you want to hit them properly you have to crouch to get your hitbox closer to theirs, AND PLEASE USE X WALK!!! or whatever it is for your keyboard.... it makes you turn left and right without walking, its really useful. standing in the open isnt good either if you have bad turning speed. path of titans isnt the isle, if you treat it as the isle then you'll get destroyed in every fight. id also suggest getting a friend to play with you, two gigas is almost unstoppable compared to a helpless one.
Yeah, it was mod dino vs mod dino so there is glitches. The official dinos are balanced nicely and that's why I play in official servers without mods. So it's more fair to everyone. Other good option for you would be find a server that has passive growth on, but no mod dinos.
Beaver quick heads up, In this game you don't lose progress past a certain point so here's the example if you hit adolescent you could die as much as you want but never be reverted to juvi. So when that raptor killed you, you were maybe 1 quest off your next checkpoint. Hope you read this hope it helps!

I feel you bro, i've been playing PoT for about 3 months now, and i still terrified if i met with bleeding Packs like Utah raptor. The thing about Packs is, if you somehow manage to hurt one of the pack and he is running away from you, the other still can harrass you and let the other recover, and Dino like Utah raptors recover fast. That's why Its really hard to fight against Packs especially bleeding Packs like allos, Dilos, Utah, etc because you constantly losing health while running or attacking by bleeds you got Best chances are, if you are an Apex, go to the shallow water where they get drown while you're not, just stand there and defense yourself. And yeah PoT don't feel like the isle at all because Apex don't do massive damage and bleeds to smaller carnies, PoT mechanics are just simple numbers attacks and health points
They may need to artificially expand the Utah hit box so that there is some leniency for larger slower dinosaurs fighting them. This game already has an issue with rubberbanding when there is lag when you are small and fast you are practically invincible.

James when you play as a large carnivore you should put your back against a wall or a rock and you should have had the normal bite instead of the bleed bite since it has a 2 second recharge and you shouldn’t have 2 bleed bites like not a charge one

You were in the plains so that was harder to do but try to use your environment to your advantage, even stand in water so they have to swim to bite you. Like you said those are mods so they might be a bit buggier, also there are other community servers with more passive growth and less death penalty than this one, check out Arazoa and Obsidian Jungle!

Pot is a game that favors small-medium sized dinos, because unlike the isle or bob, you cant get one shot. Even laten can survive a rex bite, maybe even multiple, never tested that far, but im sure its got a chance too. Also server tick rate and latency, big issue in many servers
Next time you're an apex and little guys go for you get out of open area, back against cliff or rocks like you did or water if you're near it and try crouching down. The little guys are difficult for apexes to bite when standing up right. But the hit boxes are wonky. Apparently combat is being overhauled this year.

Next time you're an apex and little guys go for you get out of open area, back against cliff or rocks like you did or water if you're near it and try crouching down. The little guys are difficult for apexes to bite when standing up right. But the hit boxes are wonky. Apparently combat is being overhauled this year.
