I knew that you will like it. Heilung is the german word for healing, the language is some kind of protogermanic. You should watch the life version of "Krigsgaldr", there you can hear the full range of her beautiful voice. Absolutely mesmerizing! They only use ancient instruments, like human bones and drums with horseskin painted with blood of every member of the band. They are fascinating! In my opinion, it's real heavy metal!

Hello! And then the Christian religion came and robbed people of their mythology! She banned the old gods, but she couldn't get them out of them from the heads of the people of Northern Europe! But the old gods still live in our heads, in that we name our days of the week after them, and still maintain many old customs! There is indeed a new God, but the old gods Live on in our hearts! That's definitely the case for me! Greetings Nephilim

Heilung is a german-Danish-Norwegian Nordic ritual folk band. Their music is based on original artifacts and surviving texts from the Iron Age and the Viking Age. They describe their music as "amplified history from early medieval northern Europe".

    From the music videos description:
The lyrics for this piece are mainly taken from bracteates: golden, circular coins or amulets found in Northern Europe that date from the 4th to 7th centuries CE. They are often fitted with a decorated rim and loop, which indicates that they were meant to be worn and perhaps provide protection, fulfil wishes or for divination.
The bracteates feature a very significant iconography influenced by Roman coinage. They were predominantly made from Roman gold, which was given to the North Germanic peoples as peace money.
In Anoana, the listener has the chance to delve into a collection of likely encoded spells from the Migration Period and get a touch of magic from the Dark Ages.
The intention of the piece is to playfully reconnect to an incantational language of a period where the North was richer in gold than any other region. Our forefathers presumably enjoyed a time of great prosperity and it may make us rethink how dark these ages really were.

I named all of my children pagan names. There is such power in pagan culture . It touches something elemental within you . I can imagine Nordic tribes singing these songs around their campfires thousands of years ago .On a different track , I have been to Alba many times in my career as a wine buyer . I have drunk a lot of Barbera d'Alba and of course the barolo and barbaresco from nearby you .I have hundreds of bottles of both wines in my cellar going back to the 1971 vintage and my New York license plate is BAROLO .

    Hi:
Above the sign on the womb of the giving birth mother is probably a painted version of Ægirs Hjelm/Aegishjalmur/Ægishjálmr ("Ægir's Helmet"), which is a symbol described in the Poetic Edda as a symbol of ultimate protection, physical, mental and spiritual referred to as protection against all kinds of fear "Ægir/Ægi" means "Sea" in both dialects of Old Norse and is also the name of the personification of the sea. "Ægir's Gate", describes the eddies that drag ships to the bottom of the sea. Ægir / Ægi has often been described as an old man with a long white beard, and to see him standing still in the water was a bad omen, as he surfaced to drag people and ships to the bottom of the ocean. Ægirs Hjelm is described in the Poetic Edda in a stanza with a shape-shifting dragon, Fafner, whose blood is poisonous. The dragon guards a treasure and, with the help of Ægirs Hjelm's spell, is invincible. In The Galdrabók, the symbol is also described as something "you wear on your forehead, between your eyebrows"). In any case, this must be taken with tweezers since it may be wrong.
About the solar eclipse perhaps these images would be connected with the symbol of the black sun. For the ancients, the sun was the source of life, as it provided them with heat and energy. The lack of him was just the opposite. For the ancient peoples, it seems that the periodicity and continuity of day and night made us think not only of the existence of 1 sun, but of two suns, one bright and luminous and the other black. One represented life and the other death. This could be translated as the balance between light and dark and its connection to the world of the dead and the living. In it, the dawn of the day was interpreted as the rebirth of life and its renewal. That is why eclipses were so important for all primitive and ancient cultures: When the sun disappeared in broad daylight, they predicted that eclipses would bring about great changes, or that even in the worst case, the world could come to an end.
    This is the original letter:
    [María]

The language is proto-norse. The language that the people living in scandinavia during the migration periode spoke in.Pre-viking era. The only words of Anoana's handwriting that are known with certainty is Landawariar (Protector of the land)

  • @goeranm55
    @goeranm55 ปีที่แล้ว +25

Can I just add some points that are important in seeing this? The most important being that the child is born under an eclipse (seen in background several times). After the birth you see a circular path of darkness which is one of the possible destinies for the child, and it scares the mother. According to previking believes they (those born under eclipses) had very special gifts: hamnskifte (= the ability to change appearance), age shift, talking to animals, healing (of the bird) etc The previking time and it's religion in nordic countries is much more female oriented than the religion in the later years (with viking gods like Tor and Oden... ). Also healing of the bird. They sing in a reconstructed version of the previking proto norse language.... The bracteates are the starting point for this tale, because they are one of the few "written" recordings of this language. But Sweden and Norway are full of drawings (hällristningar = rock carvings) as memory of them. Example en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_Carvings_in_Tanum

this was shot in Sweden and the video is the story of a baby who was born during an eclipse and she is a shaman born to protect the land and her people who in the end merging with the ox who is a spirit fulfills her destiny. Lovely reaction. Heilung calls their music amplified history. It is inspired by ancient poems and runic inscriptions on archeological items from the iron age of Northern European germanic culture. They call their live shows rituals and they make their own costumes and many of their instruments (they have had issues with customs sometimes because they use real human bones). Others have done a great job describing this song. One fun fact, in the middle of the song where the music kind of drops Maria sings using a Northern Sweden traditional technique called kulning. It was used by women to call home cows from the fields at the end of the day. Here is an example for reference. th-cam.com/video/KvtT3UyhibQ/w-d-xo.html.

"It's wonderfully weird.... which I like."
Brings a smile to all the Heilung fans.
The scene around the fire reminds me so much of high school and college 'gatherings' out in the woods. (no details will be filled in, lol)
We were definitely tree-hugging youngsters, trying to make connection with our animal-selves.
Later on, when I was playing music in college, we would have 'primitive nights' where we would all play very basic percussion, maybe a bamboo flute.
A 'song' would go on for half an hour. In my mind, some of what we did was similar, tho we had no ancient tongue to sing in... just tones and random syllables.
Heilung brings back nights that should have been impossible to remember, nights that exceed our memory, nights that happened eons ago.
    Good stuff.

Heilung are ritual not just music. They interpret ancient runes and perform ritual music incorporating the runes and ancient Gods. All the instruments and costumes are as authentic as possible and made in the old ways from pre-Viking era. As she was born under an eclipse it was believed that she held ancient powers such as shapechanging and was thought of as a Guardian of Nature. I believe the ending is her merging with the musk ox

Great reaction. I love the silence at the end and then the "wow". 😄 I felt like that on first hearing/seeing it too.
As a matter of interest the costumes are based on archaeological finds, such as the Shamaness of Bad Durrenberg in Germany, or the antler headdresses found at Star Carr in England.

They sing in a very old dialct. Its a mix of old norse danois and germanic. I would belive its the tung used among tribes met fare away in the iron age. I hirdly understand it. I do belive its like this. First the child borne is the child of the cheiftain. You see her a bit older chalenge force of nature. I meen this is it: Maiden hold your gound, you are the ruler of this land. Princess bear your crown, you are the wisperer. No man, no beast would never chalange the Queen we dear. We will always be there, with shields and spears.,,? I did my best folks, I am only an old languages proffesor. Love from Thor. Norway.😊❤

@@MacCheekz1990 Yeah and I doubt any Scandinavian language professor would be that bad at spelling in English.
And you are correct - Heilung themselves has said that only one word in the song they are fairly sure of what it means - 'protector of the land'.

The end of the song is a bit mysterious, like the woman sacrifices herself?

As beautiful as the video is, they have taken artistic liberties, as musk oxen were not present in Europe in the medieval period, they died out around 7,000 BCE.

    Condescending attitudes. Total confusion.
Anything (seemingly) from another time and place could as well be from another planet.
You're not the only ones, sadly.
