Is the cruise adaptive? as it will turn off if someone cuts in front dependent on the distance set . At least the DAF only slows down and doesn't turn off . Be grateful you don't have an Iveco . Good review .
The cruise control in my new man just keeps knocking it self off for no parent reason scrap the new man trucks it should be up to us truck drivers to decide which truck we are going to drive
@@ScottAndrews ....Scott, have you considered the possibility that the cruise disengages because the wiper-switch is activated? Everyone knows that you should never use the cruise (or, the jake/engine brake for that matter) on wet roads. Mind you, personally I never use the cruise because I get better fuel mileage on my foot (2 Million documented driven HGV-miles since 1986 to prove it)....and, yes, I do use the jake on wet roads, but never higher than stage 1 (2 cylinders). However, on a lorry like the Demo (&/or on Rentals) the vehicle-owner must assume that most drivers using these units won't have sufficient experience to know about the potential danger of using the cruise on wet roads and the best way to avoid a cruise-induced loss of vehicle control is to program it such, that it de-activates automatically when the wiper-switch is turned-on (at least that's what I would do in their shoes...LOL). Real life testing is the best way to find out what the good bits are and what needs to go back to the drawing board! Great video as always and have a good week
Hasn't that got the small adblue tank since it's a demonstrator model. The guy from man was telling us that the demonstrator model he brought into my work was a pre-production model and was fitted with a very small tank for driving around to show potential customers etc
Nice to see you in Cumbria Scott I’m down coast from scary port down at Whitehaven. Always a nice drive up the M6 towards Penrith then the A66 past Keswick seems so long ago since i drove it cos of bloody COVID
Add blue nothing but trouble ! Injector keeps clogging , have to take it out and drop it in very hot water that sorts it!! Great vid Scott lovely up North M6 👍
Alright Scott was in Immingham today 16_12_20 was looking out for you had man tgx480 with argo sawyer Ireland loved but fridge didn't go right under bed and corner of windscreen visor doesn't cover so sun blind you but pulled good see if the next man up any better
Excellent vlog Mr Andrews. They should give you more demonstrators to try out and review. Still makes me laugh when you go on about only having 510 ponies. As I have said before, my last truck was a DAF 95 (1989) and I had a whopping 310 at 38 tons but a 16 speed zf to make them sing. Happy Days 😁😊
Great review Scott, nice vlog to boot. Info: M.A.N manufactured the engines for the world war German U Boats (unterseeboot), no ulterior motive for mentioning it, just found this out last week from a TH-cam video. Stay safe all and thanks for sharing.
Good old workington and flimby i use to live in maryport cumbria love the lake district eney way iv lived now in austrailia since 1982 love your banter be safe out there hi from brit man in austrailia
That’s the trouble these days Scott , we’re all ruled by blooming computers , even behind the wheel . Not sure about the tangley game show music , but another good one , C Taylor.
Good video, good comments on the lorry. Cruise control knocking off all the time is going to negate any savings from the eco mode. Have a good safe week.
Funny you mention about built in Sat Nav's being shit, My Volvos built in TomTom got it wrong delivering around Devon. Sent me down a road which I shouldn't have gone. Luckily was able to turn around not far up said road. If I ever have to sleep around Humber area its Glew's for me....
Your comment at 16.00, you got one of those accelerators which double checks with you "are you really sure you want some go go juice? Ok, here you are then...." 🤣
Have to agree with you Scott I never trust the inbuilt satnav , the one in my car won't even recognize the street I have lived in for over ten years , always use google maps and they are yet to let me down.
Thank you Scott another great video enjoyed it and very interesting You have to be more than a Truck Driver With all the Technology the Trucks have and you have to know about Not just Driving from A to B. To easy. Thanks again. Take care and stay safe and safe trucking. John Whitehouse. 👍👍👍
Your lucky with add blue 4 to 1 is awsome I'm in a 2018 volvo fh500 and I'm using 80ltrs of add blue to every 2 tanks of diesel 800 liters best place on m18 to stop over night is the old stock yard and it's a reasonable price and secure
Ha dude this video was very good. You totally summed up what I can imagine that truck to be like. I drive a lot of different trucks with work. Thursday and Friday I was in one of works 67 MAN TGX 500. It has ecomode but you can switch it off. I feel MAN get the parts other trucks (Scania) don’t want. It’s like a cheep own brand stereo I feel. 👍🏻🤘🏻
What it means in the real world Scott is that truck is running on Horse's Piss not diesel??😀😀 The one thing I like about the ELD systems in the USA is that they show you the Driving Time etc all the time. In my day it used to drive me crazy that I had to scroll through the DigiTach to get info about time left, breaks etc.
Light power steering yet look at the size of the steering wheel it’s self. Man is shit, way behind the curve, considering how long the company has been going. I consider MAN on the same pegging as DAF. Completely & utter shit & would not want to stay in any job with them as a daily driver. Second hand value is crap & people in India don’t want them ether
Saw you (or your truck) pass me just before j13 E/B M4 last Monday or Tuesday, around 5am Dunno where you (or your truck) were going but you were in a hurry!
Be interested to see how a slightly more 'spicy' version would be like with all the bells and whistles fitted like your regular wagon. Still, great video as always Scott 👍. Of topic, but what's that tune playing at 25 minutes? Sounds rather good 🤟😎
I was driving a new tgm the other day and found the same with the cruise control and worked it out it was vehicles cut in front of you the cruise turns off very frustrating
Another great video Scott, I used to have a scania with the same cruise control issue would turn off after about 30mins put it down to something like a dead mans switch as long as you pushed a button on wheel or gas pedal now and again it would stay on lol
Hi Scott not been to Leeming Bar for a while but it used to be on the A1, not the M1, have they moved it? Bloody road planners! As for built in truck sat-nav's only used a 65 plate Scania one and that was spot on and a doddle to use. We mainly use company supplied Garmin devices now which along with Sat-Nav have delivery tickets, geo fence address's, vehicle tracker with PTO notification and driving style reports to head office on g-force, revs and speeding. Thanks for your views on the new MAN but I would say to your boss, DON'T buy. I am disgruntled as mine blew up on the Cat and Fiddle road last week and the dealer can't look at it for a week as they have too many engines in for repair. Say's a lot I think. You did mention the steering and I was wondering if they have moved to electric steering? Great video as always.
Good vid, Even though it has a smaller adblue it dose seem to drink an awful lot of it. It’s a MAN it seems like the just added new bits and technology but haven’t tested it or just cut corners. Lol car Horn📯.
I’m personally not a great lover of MAN, but as the are all being brought up by the gig three.... in time they are all going to look alike. Other then that Scotty, great vid and keep up the good work...... we’re try and get you nominated for an award next year!
New Gen Scania uses hardly any Adbliue & they re-engineered the entire emissions system. & I’m talking hardly any. A small tank will do well over 1500km
Get your very own lorry company as you know which lorries work better then the management the new man is so badly made lm a driver at Eddie STOBARTS and my new man is very poor for speed when lm fully loaded but when lm empty the speed seems to carry on just doing what it wants so lv'e told my transport manager that lm going to drive my old truck
Hi Scott. Watching this was not great viewing. Not you but the attempt of a new tgx by MAN looks to be worse than I thought. It is highly likely mine is being shipped in for a new tgx next year and thats not great. Em has that eco only mode on her tgx 18 plate and it causes the speed to go up and down all night. It does cause conflict with overtaking trucks and joining lgvs on slip roads. MAN need to address this. Oh and my tgx 26.500 has great power at 44t and empty, infact a bit too much power empty as the moffett makes the drive axle a bit light so she can be a little twitchy in the twisties even with the centre lift up , but half loaded it has the power of a wet fart. Again MAN need to address this, its the CAN system missreading the load sensor and cutting bhp. The fitters say MAN know about it but not sure how to fix. That infotainment system is total faffy shit. What on earth were they thinking. Take it out MAN, go back to what you had before. Regards BasherMAN

It has Adaptive cruise yes. But it knocks itself off weather the Adaptive cruise is turned off or on. Even on straight motorways with no cars in front
What’s wrong with the iveco’s? Aside from the fact that everything starts to fall off of it after 2 years
The cruise control in my new man just keeps knocking it self off for no parent reason scrap the new man trucks it should be up to us truck drivers to decide which truck we are going to drive

From what I’ve seen on the newer models is that the cruise control goes into eco mode whilst driving along and cuts it off

Onward down to Dover for the straw!

Gonna be a great video as always Scott
And try to read the drivers guide on the truck before you drive . It is much more easy to to understand the truck .Eco ,lightning ect
I take it you prefer your 580 Man Scott
That horn 🤣.
Clearly they've pinched it from the Volkswagen Golf production line!
My Daf is stuck in eco mode and does exactly the same..Lovely truck but it drives me nuts and it's stuck at 53 as well

Great video.
how does that 510 compare with ure old daf 510 any differance apart from software
People only look at how much diesel they use, forget about the extra ad-blue adding to costs (smoke and mirrors) 🤣
Would love to know if the people take note on what people say . But i do t think so. Eco mode is pointless
