  • I present to you the Swift Stellar 1 microscope, which has some interesting features. A feature that I forgot to mention in the video is that the microscope has a 30 minute power saving feature, where it switches off after 30 minutes if the light intensity was not changed.
    Correction: The infinity version microscope has Semi-Plan Objectives and not Plan Objectives asmentionedin the video.
    I was not paid for making this video. The microscope was provided to me free of charge without conditions.

    I just have to say your videos are always really informative, as objective as possible and really interesting. I was always interested in microscopy and after discovering your channel(s) i bought my first microscope about 3 years ago. Now i'm saving up for the Motic BA310 which i hope will serve me for many years.
    Thank you for investing time and effort into making videos.

    I had purchased the SW380T online and after your review sent it back and ordered this one for the Semi-Plan Objective lens, whereas they are not full Plan but Semi as indicated by the S next to Plan on the lens I was happy. From your other review on plan objectives vs DIN you mentioned a Plan objective is costly, so Semi-Plan you get a little better than DIN at a good price. I will be taking pictures of the dinoflagellates that I am currently observing in my reef tanks. It will arrive this Saturday Aug 14, very excited about trying it out and comparing it to the SW380T that I got to work with for a 1 week.

    Welcome all! At first I wanted to buy a microscope "Swift SW380T". Then I saw "Swift Stellar 1 T". While I was thinking about which one to buy for two weeks, the "Swift Stellar 1 Pro T Infinity" appeared on the market. I immediately and without hesitation bought "Swift Stellar 1 Pro T Infinity". I bought it and have no regrets. For a hobby, an excellent microscope in terms of PRICE and QUALITY. Swift Stellar is a very solid microscope, ergonomic, sturdy and stable, easy to handle. I spend more than three hours at a time and do not get tired. Neither physically nor mentally, most importantly, the eyes do not get tired. But I'm already 52 years old!

    I just this morning ordered the Stellar 1, and I had wondered whether the "Pro" version with Infinite objectives was worth the extra money. I'm glad I saw this video this morning because you explained the difference in the objectives. I will probably cancel my order now and upgrade to the Infinite version because I am wanting to use the scope for photography. Thanks for the explanation!!! I'm so glad I found your channels, you are giving me tons of ideas on what to explore! Best wishes

      Sounds like you may be confusing the terms infinite and plan. U can get plan 160 objectives too. I have heard that current generation infinite optics from China are better than their 160, though, so u probably made a good choice to upgrade.

    • @danfoster3613
      @danfoster3613 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bendirval3612 Ah! Ok, yeah I missed that detail. So the Plan objective is the difference for clarity to the edges of the image. Thanks! I'm just getting back into microscopy after a 35 year lapse and only having a "toy" microscope as a kid. I can't wait to start exploring again. Made the upgrade! ;-)

    • @bendirval3612
      @bendirval3612 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@danfoster3613 Yes, plan means a flat specimen will mostly be in focus all at the same time. Infinity means the optics are designed to easily add intermediate stuff like analyzers or fluorescence without throwing off the focus. It is possible to make 160 objectives to the same or higher quality that you see in infinity optics, but as a practical matter infinity optics tend to be better simply because they have a more modern design and go with more expensive scopes. In terms of quality, achromat < plan achromat < fluor < apo. It is hard or impossible to find new fluor or apo objectives for 160mm systems. Not so with infinity. So you have upgrade possibilities as well with an infinite system.

    I like the c-mount to eyepiece tube adapter. Do they have that piece by itself? Most microscopes beyond the hobbyist level only have c-mount adapters because they assume you must have an expensive camera to go with it, but it would be nice to be able to put an eyepiece on any phototube.

    Hello, thanks for the great video. I have a few questions:
    1. I would like to know if the condenser is properly centered or replaceable, as I have this issue in my current microscope.
    2.Are the eyepieces high eyepoint and suitable for glasses wearers?
    3. Is there a focus lock lever included? Thank you very much.

    • @MicrobehunterMicroscopy
      @MicrobehunterMicroscopy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The condenser is not centerable. If you want to center it, you might have to loosen some screws. The condenser can not be raised and lowered, it is fixed at the highest position. When closing the diaphragm all the way, it is not possible to see the diaphragm, so one can not see if it is centered (but therefore it also does not disturb if it is not centered). I will check the eyepieces. No focus lock lever.

      Different models have different methods, and not all microscopes have the possibility for phase contrast upgrade. So you have to look at each case individually and contact the company directly. The phase condenser and the phase contrast objectives also must fit together.

      I would say that they are similar. The SW380T has an internal power adapter. The USB connector of the Stellar 1 is not quite as rugged as a power cable. The mechanics (especially of the trinocular head) is better in the stellar (smoother, no scratching).

    Hey MicrobeHunter, I have a question.

    • @MicrobehunterMicroscopy

      The condenser should be always at the top most position. So for this reason it can not be lowered in many cases. Lowering can be necessary for fine adjustment when using Köhler illumination, but it should generally be kept too the top.

      agree with you. SWIFT microscope made in China, but it is US brand, has 95 years history, more cost-effective, quality is very good .
      As you know, iPhone also made in China, but it is also the Best Cellphone.

    Is Swift and Amscope the same company? They seem to have the same products. Thank you for the videos.

      Different companies. Swift is owned by Motic. AmScope is owned by united scope. Many Chinese brands buy from the same factories, though, so it is common to see very similar scopes under two brands. Motic actually manufactures almost all it's stuff but I believe its swift line is mostly bought from generic Chinese manufacturers like sunny optical and novel optics.

      I have received a mail from the company Swift requesting that I should make it clear the Motic and Swift are not related. Quote from the Email: "the fact the SWIFT and MOTIC are not related at all".

      @@MicrobehunterMicroscopy Your contact person needs to do some explaining. Swift prominently states that it is a member of the Motic group (swiftoptical.com/ the address and phone at the bottom match swift's regular contact info). I am very interested in the explanation that person can come up with for the statement they gave you. Perhaps Motic doesn't physically manufacture microscopes sold under the Swift brand? I could believe that, I guess. But it would take a pretty good argument to persuade me they are "not related at all."

      I told them that on the Motic website they sell Swift microscopes. I also wonder about this. I am also awaiting an answer on this.

      @@MicrobehunterMicroscopy Did you ever hear back about this? I have asked several different sources and they all told me that Swift is either wholly or partly owned by Motic.

    My SP35 by Brunel has a rechargeable built in power pack which can be replaced. The charge seems to last forever.
    This swift looks good, but I'd prefer it with a rechargeable power pack rather than with the usb.
