that's basically the norm. those companies go to youtubers because they know they can pay less than what a celebrity would charge, and they'll still get to a lot of people. and majority of the times, the products are crap, they're not what advertised at all. it's safe to assume anything a youtuber sponsors is not worth getting
As a teacher from Germany I have to say that these bottles used to be EVERYWHERE some months ago. They suddenly disappeared about a month ago - I assume most people found out that the "Air Up system" is way too expensive. Almost every student I teach owned one and they all fell for the very aggressive marketing... I guess their parents don't want to spend hundreds of euros per year on "pods"...
@@piti3811 I didn't even know "Air Up" was even a thing 3,5 years ago - nice to know! The marketing was/is great, however... Even I considered buying one but didn't do so after finding out how much the pods are.
@@piti3811 True, they were everywhere in the European influencer videos around the pandemic era and now they have creeped into the US influencer vids. Exhaust all markets until they fade away.
i bought my second bottle and for me with my amount of use it's significantly cheaper than buying bottled flavored water from stores. For some reason i can't stand the normal taste of tap water and this bottle is the perfect solution for me after having tried several different options.
Consider calling it a "resin code" instead of "recycling triangle". The design fools consumers into thinking plastics are more recyclable than they actually are, and the technical name avoids reinforcing that association for the plastics manufacturers who intended it.
That is among the reasons I am attempting to focus on reusable items made out of glass or metal. Glass is more recyclable than metal, but at least they are both more recyclable than paper and plastic. And yeah, paper is biodegradable, but that still isn't a good excuse. That said, I want people to talk more about cradle-to-cradle designs, which are a step above recyclable designs.
I really wish these resin codes (very appropriate name) were actually used more. Like the councils 'recycling guide' that talks about meat trays and yoghurt pots, but never simply says "yes to 1, 2, 4 and 7, no to all others". Then governments make the codes compulsory, even for films of plastic (they can be inked on), suddenly you really could exclude non-recyclables as a purchase decision.
I've met far too many people who loathe the taste of water because they were raised drinking literally nothing but soda and juice. Plain water to them is disgusting which is so bizarre to me. We need to stop giving our kids so much of that shit and teach them that drinking flavorless drinks is normal and fine.
Growing up, the tap water was too disgusting for filters to help and my parents didn't want to spend the little money we had on plastic water bottles. So I grew up with mainly soda and juice. Only now as an adult I'm learning to enjoy water via making it really cold and adding a bit of lemon juice.
I'm kinda pissy too about water taste, particularly hated tasting water from plastic containers. But I'm not as far refusing to take a sip when I'm really thirsty
Even if one can't drink basic water, flavor drops exist. A lot less complicated than sponge disks soaked in mystery fluid that you strap onto a specialty water bottle (that apparently leaks).
I saw that Hipyotech review, too. When your specialty water bottle fails to BE a bottle that holds water, there's a big problem. Also, I don't know what's wrong with the water where I live (it could be these ancient pipes for all I know), so I have to keep bottled water on hand. Even so, I rarely feel the need to add flavor. Water's great!
@@cassieoz1702 Some people do actually have issues with this! Bariatric surgery can cause issues drinking water, especially cold water, and people with dementia sometimes need to be given water in a flavored form since they're not interested otherwise, for example. So there are use cases... But yeah, there's better ways to put flavor in water.
@maiiau clearly. Ive had bariatruc surgery and survived. There are very few absolutes but I'm sick of folks saying ' cant' when they mean 'I don't want to'. The language absolves them of taking responsibility for their decisions. Also, folks these days drink insane amounts of water.
@@cassieoz1702not because you were able to do something means everyone should be able to. The way you're thinking is just conservative bullshit because some things are actually out of your control
Yeah, my initial reaction to the product was "just get an infuser bottle and some fruit, ffs". Or not even that: buy some fruit. Freeze it. Put it in your water. You get flavoured water + some nutrients from the fruit. There's probably multiple ways you could do that.
@@thereisa6inthenameMaybe possible in Europe and Canada and Australia where water is clean, but in the United States tap water is akin to river water. The amount of lead, sulfur, and other dangerous minerals in it makes it at best disgusting and at worst toxic to drink. Saw another guy talk about this from the consumer's standpoint. One of the major reasons the reviews of the scent packs are so varied is, after you open a scent insert, you need to let it sit for about a day to vent.
@@unvergebeneid i hope it comes with bluetooth and a smartphone app so you can’t put it in the dishwasher! That would be "great" It also needs a "internal weight measurement system" aka A SCALE
@@fisshbone eh... you should've done more thinking before posting that, although I don't see how a thought experiment would've helped. Because those are not synonyms.
If this was really supposed to be eco-friendly, it would make much more sense to just have some reservoir on the top of the bottle that you can refill with these scents, and then they could sell those liquids (or gels) in reusable bottles made from recycled plastic. Considering these pucks last about ten days, then this bottle could last for month(s). The idea doesn't seem terrible, but could and should be much less wasteful if it's supposed to keep people from creating more trash.
Problem with your idea is that liquids or gels are much more easily replicable at home vs weird mystery pucks. Meaning company would propably only make the one sale and no recurrent buyers. More eco friendly, but not profitable
@@viiranen Yeah, but it would also draw more potential buyers. You're right though, there would be less profit but no razor blade type of business will ever be eco friendly unless you're selling spades and shovels and the refills are saplings.
@@filipruml considering how viral the water bottle is, they are already selling like hot cakes, and if the company really wanted to be more eco friendly, selling scent fluids would be the perfect choice. just increase the cost of the bottle and sell the smelly liquid. lol. i think it would actually be pretty cool if you could open up the cartridge, take out a bio-degradable sponge, douse it in a scent that you want, insert it into the cartridge and be good for about a week before you have to wash the sponge and insert a new scent.
this bottle itself can last for years.. my first bottle lasted me about 2 years and now my sibling is using it as i bought the new gen 2. i bought this bottle end of march and am only on my second pod which is not yet empty. It lasts longer than the website says it does. It's just after a certain amount of water the flavor does get a little weaker.
@@Chrysalis208 thats honestly a great idea to make it even more ecofriendly! For me the reason it works is because it goes through the mouth to the nose so keeping the mechanism as it is now just with a reusable pod kinda thing would be great!
Same, I love mine. I see a lot of comments saying to put fruit in water or freeze it,and it's like maybe I don't want anything in my water, I don't want bits of whatever in there. Or surger or whatever, the little hit of Scent it all I want!

When I first heard of it, I just thought about how I can slice a 50¢ lemon which has zero plastic on it. Or get some strawberries or pick blackberries in a field. Airup makes zero sense financially and environmentally
to be fair, I can see how this could be interesting to people with fruit allergies? Seeing as it's just straight up chemicals in there xD Like I am allergic to fruit so unfortunately putting something in there for flavour that isn't just sugar or something adjacent is rather difficult if I want to keep it healthy xD I'm NOT a fan of AirUp, thought it was a scam and smelled rather bad when a friend offered me to try so I was like 'I'm not drinking from THAT' but I can see how the market these days (with lots of people not liking to drink water but knowing they should) would be open to these sorts of things Edit: also I ain't paying for that shit xD
All fruit allergy??? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa? [will assume a figurative allergy like those people that aren't celiac but refuse to eat gluten] In what land 1Kg of lemons is more expensive than 8$? Bloody hell. If one wants to be even cheaper its just buying citric acid, 2-3g/L of water and you get real nice pure lemonade for ~0.02-0.05€.
If they actually wanted to be sustainable they’d sell a bottle with a small compartment in the cap you can stick a slice of lemon inside. But instead they made this thing ring shaped for maximum difficulty to fit anything sustainable, only their flavour pods.
Most people are to lazy to clean tveir stuff, and you will end up with a lot of dirty bottles with rotten Leon slice leftovers. Some people are like Toddlers, they can't do the most simple tasks because they never were taucht.
@@CordeliaWagner1999 These bottles are already hard to wash since it has moving parts and a stupid straw that you'd have to clean and I doubt the same lazy people you are talking about would wash these well anyway. @@CordeliaWagner1999thats a bit of an over exaggeration, this isnt like cleaning a frying pan that may have burnt oil stuck to it that takes a lot of work to get off, its just drop out the slice, wash the ring with soap water and clean it with a paper towel. 10 seconds. Let's not over exaggerate.
I noticed a lot of influencers promoting AirUp and in one particularly odd instance was the SINGLE ad they featured on Good Mythical Morning and Rhett was the only one to participate in the ad and Link seemed far more hesitant and said that this was his thing then they never mentioned or featured it again from what I’ve seen. Just the influencer marketing around this alone was *almost* as aggressive as Bloom because they seem willing to work with ANYONE as long as you show off their product. I remember a very similar product back in the 90s. Instead of a ring, though, it was cylinder shaped. And the water had to pass through the cylinder to get the 'flavoring' along with the 'fragrance'. I remember seeing commercials for it and it could be purchased at Bed, Bath and Beyond.
I wonder if the reason we can't get them in Canada is because of the single use plastic laws we have now... regardless... this thing is so dumb. Great piece as always.
I never understood ppl that say they dislike the "taste" of water. However there are so many better, more sustainable ways to flavour your drinks. Just add a spritz/slice of lemon, lime, whatever or throw in some mint etc.
People have gotten so annoying over the years. As a kid I was drinking water that probably contained bugs from a hose while playing outside. 🤷♀ It tasted like water and water tastes perfectly fine as.
I drink a lot of water myself, but I've noticed that for the people who were raised in a family that always had flavoured drinks, they have to push past that consciously. A lot of people don't seem to want to. If I drank a glass of orange squash as a kid (cordial), and then immediately followed it up with some water, the water would taste a bit bad just because of the comparison. It tasted plain and therefore, unenjoyable. Same kind of "eugh" reaction as drinking orange juice just after brushing your teeth - the comparison of the two flavours is what tastes bad? Problem is, these people who never drank plain water as kids (due to lack of access, childhood stubbornness, or whatever) don't *know* what a plain glass of water is like. They are always comparing it to something sweet and flavourful, which it will never live up to - for obvious reasons. I moved to a different area with harder water and I did not like it when I first arrived, but I love plain water, so eventually I worked out that if I put ice in it it'd "cover up" the mineral taste. And now I actually like it, just because I drank it enough to get used to it!! So I know it's doable... you just have to try. But a lot of people don't want to push past the initial "eugh" and do that. Which is kinda sad.
@@JohnDoe-hj9fh convinced people claiming tofu has no taste are deliberately lying. It’s so clearly got a taste and it’s not pleasant, and it’s there no matter what marinades you try. The best marinades can do is make the gross tofu flavour a little more palatable. Water definitely has a taste and the tastes differ by region you get the water from. I’m fine with it plain but prefer it flavoured, like with some lemon, etc. Sometimes I wonder if some people genuinely can’t taste the flavours in these things, and it’s like a weird genetic difference or something. I’ve wondered if it could be an “untrained palate” issue where they just can’t detect more “nuanced” flavours, but I don’t think that’s it. Maybe it’s like how people think of vanilla ice cream as being plain ice cream even though it’s literally flavoured with vanilla; like, maybe people just consider it flavourless because they see it as the neutral default? Idk, makes no sense to me lol.

I was really confused when he said it was a scam. It isn't? It does work as intended and is as advertised. The "razor blade model" IS expensive and is worth mentioning, however. But generally I usually get Air-Up marketed as a soft drink replacement. Not drink more water encouragement. But to outright replace soft drinks. Which makes its price make more sense.
As I understand it from this video, the scam is that it's claiming to be all eco and environmentally friendly when the basic design is the opposite. A slight tweak would have actually made it significantly more eco but instead they chose to go with this wasteful and expensive pod design. So you're right, the water bottle itself isn't a scam, but the marketing is deliberately misleading to the point where you could consider that a scam.
They made personal sized bottles of flavoring to add to bottled water. Might as well just have kept doing that and made unique flavors, the bottles are probably more recyclable than the pods and package for the pods
I'm a seltzer fanatic and for a while it bothered me that I was generating so much waste, even though they were just recyclable cans. The solution I found was to make my own seltzer with a Drinkmate machine and put in a drop or two of food-grade essential oil for flavor. For me a 2 month airup pod STILL gave flavor. I think it depends per person whether it works or not. How well is their smell developed? Are they sick? Do they have a cold? I wouldn’t use 3 a month. Maybe 1 per month.. this would be nice for me when im on the go or at school. And at home I drink regular lemonade or tea.

I've never understood the complaints of water tasting like nothing. Maybe it's just because my mom raised us on more water than sugared drinks but I prefer water because it's tasteless. It doesn't do weird things to my breath and it goes with everything more or less. I always keep a bottle of water around, and I genuinely dislike flavoring water because it almost always tastes like chemicals, so this need to revolutionize water drinking simply refuses to compute for me.
@@JohnDoe-hj9fh Not really? Not to me, at least. When I drink water I expect it to be flavorless, a background to a meal or something to make me feel hydrated after working in my gardens in the hot southern sun. Especially that last part. However, when I cook, I expect my food to be packed with flavor and spices. i agree with you on the points you made about the flavor cartridge, its unneccesary, short lived and ultimately just something you'd buy for its novelty. i have bought an air up water bottle and ive actually enjoyed it. its a nice alternative to the flavored water that is just high in unnecessary sugars, artificial flavorings and calories that you shouldnt get with ordinary plain water, but being able to "taste" something that is honestly pretty good, and not have to worry about calculating calories or worry about added sugars is nice. and perhaps its better for the environment than drinking tons of soft drinks like coke or pepsi
I once tried it when a colleague bought an air up when they were brand new. It tasted like nothing and had a really chemical, plasticy, unpleasant aroma to it that wafted in my nose at the same time. I drank water almost exclusively (except refilling the bottles MANY times from the tap), from cheap plastic bulk packaged water (like 24 or 36 packs) from Kroger, etc. for several decades now. The ONLY time I had a problem with leaks was when I accidently sliced a bittle with a utility knife while cutting the plastic straps off the container (ENTIRELY my fault). I hate that the word "scam" is used so lightly now for almost everything that people "don't like" or for things that have a few downsides. The word completely lost any meaning. It is not a scam just because, for some people, the downsides outweigh the upsides or because the marketing is a bit "weird". If it is about that, almost every big company could be called a "scam" as most commercials will almost always only show the upsides and paint them in a very good light. Also calling something "unnecessary" is way too subjective and with this you can argue that everything apart from tap-water is also unnecessary. At the end, buy whatever floats your boat and you can afford. If this helps you drink more water, hooray for you.
Seems similar to a time I lost the cap on a plastic bottle I was reusing, I used one from a flavored drink, and it did smell like the flavored drink for a week, it didn't change the flavor, but seems like the same principle.
its interesting, i remember their early marketing in the Netherlands being very geared towards it being a HEALTH choice and not an eco friendly one (scented water over sodas) but in all fairness, buying bottles of water is not standard here. I do think there's also been a shift in general in the last five or so years to really get into that eco friendly market in general.
100% water (distilled water, essentially) isn't really good for you, so the water you drink will nearly always have some kind of trace elements in it. That varies depending on location and source, and some people might not like the trace elements they taste.
Ye, well, genius, if you don't like the taste of water, try adding a piece of lemon, or a bit of lemon juice. Healthy, refreshing, 0 calories. No need to spend on expensive bottles and taste-illusion refills.

Anyways before one of my friends got an air up they had a idk and they smelt the pod whilst drinking and it replicated an air up taste just not as strong
For one thing, I actually bought one of these bottles. It was cool at first because it did actually work. Problem is though, it really was just way too expensive to keep up with and I just switched back to a normal bottle. Recently however, I was reminded of Cirkul and their whole system. Cool thing about them is that, they literally do flavor your water instead of "flavoring" through scent. You should totally do a video on them sometime because they have a similar business scheme!
Herb Copperbottom (from the 2006 movie "Robots") once told his son Rodney that if he was going to be a successful inventor, he should follow the mantra of "find a need, fill a need". This product found a need to be sold, and filled the pockets of a lot of people. Herb Copperbottom would have set those crafty German grad students straight. He would then inspire them to go on an adventure filled mission that taught them the dangers of government corruption and consumer capitalism, but conclude by promoting the positive message that a properly run governmemt can work for the benefit of all through strict business regulations, democratization of the workplace, and wealth distribution that leaves no robot behind.

Advertising will always happen within capitalism, prior to influences corporations did not share any of the ad revenue with everyday people. Now “influencers” can make a job out of marketing and advertising that use to remain in the hands of capitalists and corporations
I had been using one for 2 years : it gets nasty really fast, really hard to clean, expensive as you really pay for nothing, the scent goes away really fast… Just drink water or something with real complements and taste inside like Holy in Europe for cheaper. You guys rock so much 🔥
I must be using TH-cam wrong, I have no idea who any of the influencers are in any of those clips! Solid video though and these will all have reduced stickers on in a couple of years.
I come from a country with a very robust recycling system for any beverage container you may have. Return deposits are in the price of the container, so you're incentivised to bring the bloody thing back to the tune of 15-20 euro cents per bottle. (For aluminium cans this works out to be about 4-5 euros for a full average plastic bag.) This food grade plastic is then crushed, washed and recycled. So, getting these pods may be worse for the environment.
A lot of creators will put their videos on private and link their patreon subs first. That's why you sometimes see comments from before the video was made public.
Hey, great video as always. Rewatched some old videos again and idea: Nicotine Pouches. As here you talk about product similar to coffee pods, you spoke about vaping last year, could be a good continuation. 🤗
As a German I find it really funny that air up markets themselves as sustainable when most households I’ve visited mostly drink carbonated water from reusable glass bottles. Their main market would have been America where Pfand doesn’t really exist
Obviously their market is American, here in Germany, there aren’t a lot of people who are addicted to sweet drinks and can’t drink flavorless water. It’s sad to see American consumerism make people dislike a basic feature of staying alive
I have an air up bottle and yes it does not taste like soda but it actually does flavor your water without adding anything. All of these bad comments are from people that have never tried it. And to be fair I don’t think this guy even tried it.

I think “Scsm” is kinda harsh, especially if it does what it says and encourages more use of refillable water bottles over other single use options. You don’t have to be perfect to be better.
but these things claiming to be good for the environment fall very much behind any other normal refillable bottle that don't come with those plastic rings.. just use any flavour syrup or tea or coffee of you liking instead? or just enjoy the great refreshing taste of plain water? that's still a thing xD

Consider calling it a "resin code" instead of "recycling triangle". The design fools consumers into thinking plastics are more recyclable than they actually are, and the technical name avoids reinforcing that association for the plastics manufacturers who intended it.
Love this!
Came to the comments wanting to point out the same thing.

Growing up, the tap water was too disgusting for filters to help and my parents didn't want to spend the little money we had on plastic water bottles. So I grew up with mainly soda and juice. Only now as an adult I'm learning to enjoy water via making it really cold and adding a bit of lemon juice.

People have different tastes. I don't like lettuce or tofu but people say those taste of nothing too
I drink a lot of water myself, but I've noticed that for the people who were raised in a family that always had flavoured drinks, they have to push past that consciously.
Same- I had mine for 3 years and loved it, mostly the bottle itself is just perfect to me. I keep a pod in for over a month and it’s fine. Only getting a new one now because I dropped mine one too many times and it cracked.
fr i cant get the hate its probably because they never had one
@@tonyman905: Maybe another way to stupidly fill more landfills with plastic pods isn't appealing to people with a brain -- especially when it's for a product that isn't really even needed.
I also hate the whole wasteful coffee pod model, when a giant can of Folgers et. al. is easy to find at any decent grocery store for cheap.
I drink tea. At least everything but the staple is basically biodegradeable.
Also the water bottles themselves are super cheap and leaky, can't travel anywhere without it spilling everywhere.
no lol absolutely not the case
I drank water almost exclusively (except refilling the bottles MANY times from the tap), from cheap plastic bulk packaged water (like 24 or 36 packs) from Kroger, etc. for several decades now.
The ONLY time I had a problem with leaks was when I accidently sliced a bittle with a utility knife while cutting the plastic straps off the container (ENTIRELY my fault).
The only issue I've ever had was using the same bottle so long that stuff started growing in it. Again -- entirely MY fault.
So what the hell are you making shiite up about that for?
@@rogergeyer9851 Just because some cheap PET bottles work reliably that doesn't mean this overpriced fancy bottle is any good. Not sure how you think those are comparable, they're not even the same material.
Funniest thing for me is that in Germany that bottle was “in” like five years ago and kinda irrelevant today.
According to Company man, this and a rapid growth abroad is a recipe for disaster.
they had one deal with Edeka. I never saw the bottles there. I interviewed once with them and got the most unfriendliest rejection via phone in 2019.
@@Canleaf08 It's part of the standard product range at Rossmann and DM.
tbh i see it more today than five years ago
I remember there was another flavour smell system at least 7-8 years ago... It died down and now this haha
Exactly. Like, they’re giving you what they’re selling, right? A water bottle that flavours water through scent. That’s not a scam.
I will never comprehend people hating the taste of water
100% water (distilled water, essentially) isn't really good for you, so the water you drink will nearly always have some kind of trace elements in it. That varies depending on location and source, and some people might not like the trace elements they taste.
@@rodh1404yeah but if you’re thirsty water always tastes amazing
Yeah I really can't wrap my head around the idea that people don't enjoy the same things I do it's so crazy
@@rodh1404still extremely weird and consumerist
I can taste the salt and sometimes I can’t stand it but I also drink distilled water which tastes better. I only enjoy it when I am really thirsty
One thing Ive been wondering is: Ehy cant you just place some strong smelling fruit in there, like a slice of lemon?
Ye, well, genius, if you don't like the taste of water, try adding a piece of lemon, or a bit of lemon juice. Healthy, refreshing, 0 calories. No need to spend on expensive bottles and taste-illusion refills.
Had air up for over 3 years now, it’s great. I don’t know if it’s just because I have an older bottle, but I’ve never noticed anything bad. Except the old cherry pods. It smelt like gas. Idk why. Anyways before one of my friends got an air up they had a idk and they smelt the pod whilst drinking and it replicated an air up taste just not as strong
I was confused at first why the reupload but then I realised I had in fact watched the Hipyo video on the Air Up bottle being a scam 😄
You should totally do a video on them sometime because they have a similar business scheme!
you couldve just used the air up as a normal bottle...
personally, i find cirkul to be kind of redundant as why not just buy cordial or other water flavourers
@@epic3286 what is cirkul

I don't watch or use any short form content platforms + ad blocking... never even heard of this thing before. Man, the public really is hit with a pile of crap advertising eh ?
I also use SponsorBlock extension for TH-cam, and I'm so happy that I don't see any ads...or as little as possible at least.
the bottle is good tho
A glass of water from the waterpipe
tastes better and its free😂😅😅
it tastes the same in a air up bottle
Thanks for this video, I share it IMMEDIATELY to my mother who want to buy a air up bottle for my birthday (even if I already say that I don't want it😅). You do a great job guys! Have a nice week!😊
whats your issue with the bottles they are great lol
Parents. Yeah. "I don't want X". So you get X. Been there, done that. And my mother wan't about high consumption -- just not too good on paying attention.
Everyone in the comments is like “I always knew this thing was a scam!”
…but I feel like the video only talked positively about the thing? It works, it’s made of recyclable and recycled materials, and influencers market it. And again, it works and is pretty cool actually. So what’s the problem…?
Yeah, if I genuinely wanted flavored water, I could easily just easily strain crushed fruit and/or infuse fruit in water - or do what people have done for centuries, and brew tea lol.
I despise the whole idea of influencers.
Just the name is kind of obnoxious in itself. That's why they had to bring in the disclaimer card on Y.T as it's such a seedy business model right? Don't get me started on the endless VPN endorsements either!
Oh me too!!!

Advertising will always happen within capitalism, prior to influences corporations did not share any of the ad revenue with everyday people. Now “influencers” can make a job out of marketing and advertising that use to remain in the hands of capitalists and corporations

Unnecessary and wasteful but very cool in concept alone.

Nice product placement of the Starbucks Kleen Kanteen 😆
I must be using TH-cam wrong, I have no idea who any of the influencers are in any of those clips! Solid video though and these will all have reduced stickers on in a couple of years.
I come from a country with a very robust recycling system for any beverage container you may have. Return deposits are in the price of the container, so you're incentivised to bring the bloody thing back to the tune of 15-20 euro cents per bottle. (For aluminium cans this works out to be about 4-5 euros for a full average plastic bag.) This food grade plastic is then crushed, washed and recycled. So, getting these pods may be worse for the environment.
why are there comments from before the vid was uploaded?
could be early access (unlisted video) through patreon?
A lot of creators will put their videos on private and link their patreon subs first. That's why you sometimes see comments from before the video was made public.

The movie Idiocracy is slowly becoming a reality
I have an air up bottle and yes it does not taste like soda but it actually does flavor your water without adding anything. All of these bad comments are from people that have never tried it. And to be fair I don’t think this guy even tried it.
You can try it and still have negative things to say
I might as well not listen to you either then? Since you're on the internet as well.
Plus, he outright said he hadn't tried it due to it not being available where he lives

I still like my Air Up bottle, but I recognize its limitations.
There is always room for morons.
@@lalystar4230used 1 pod for 1 and a half months now. Still going strong.
@@lalystar4230 The question to ask is, is the average person buying this replacing a regular water bottle or replacing single use drinks. I suspect it's the later and that's the audience their targeting. Would making your own flavored drink be better? Sure. But I don't know how many people are going to do that. But if buying this, causes you to buy one fewer single-use drinks per week, I think that's a net win for the planet in terms of less waste create. Those plastic disks are tiny. Yes it would be better if they were recyclable, but it's still better than a weeks worth of other bottles ending up in the trash.
@@sethgrandeau9267 if that's the target audience, then sure. Here in the Netherlands a ton of people have bottles of syrup and just pour it in glasses when at home or in travel bottles when going out. Yes we do buy single use bottles of soda as well, just generally not that many, and if we do, we always bring them back to a recycle station, coz empty plastic bottle = money xD and Dutch people are cheapskates hahaha
Agreed
had mine for a couple months, love it. I have been drinking regular water before and cut out sodas and sugary drinks for 4 years, air up is perfect for getting little flavor while not breaking my fasts, love it and perfect for my use case but understand the hate, but it's not a "scam" just like a Kruege coffee machine, it makes u coffee just because it's not environmentally helpful doesn't make it a scam. it does provide flavor and you are only drinking water, nothing else, at the very least you do have a nice water bottle.
What amazes me is that people will buy anything these influencers bleat about. Literally anything. I'm convinced if I take a stone I find on a riverbed, brand it SmoothStone & have influencers throw it at their TV screens to show how powerful it is - the orders will come in by the billion. I will move into a mansion and buy a Rolls Royce and Gulfstream G650. I will even patent the stone and sue various rivers who have similar stones.
It helped me drink more Water, that was my goal. Good video still :)
just drink plain water, who needs these type of trash

I'd suggest flavoured water, actual flavoured water
@taffingtonboathouse5754 I personally do those flavor packets and Cirkul
As a person that used a airup it really helped me drink more water i sadly lost mine and now want a new one
I'm pretty sure they'll take ALL the money you want to send them. Just think - you can help fill more landfills.
You have to understand that for entrepreneurs to be globally successful, they'll have to damage the environment to get there. The people that support the environment aren't as successful as the ones mass producing a single-use product.
My immediate thought upon seeing air up for the first time was literally "dude. just put some fruit in the water?"
it doesnt have the same effect lol
Anyone who can't drink plain water is one sad ass case
Uh, there is zero valid criticism in this review and yet you're calling it a scam. The thing is advertised factually and solves a real need.
Claiming pods are environmentally friendly is a PURE scam.
Their gigantic marketing budget is put on the consumer as a gigantic markup.
Or better yet, why not just sell the pods by themselves and make them compatible with most water bottles?
If only... there were companies like mio and liquid iv... if only.
Origin story for the AirUp bottle probably involves a guy drinking water from a bottle while smelling the citrus car freshener and having an epiphany
