    To see it geographically is a perfect way to convey the text and make it truly understandable, bringing it visually to life. Well done.

    2:54 Correction: The scripture doesn't say that the amalekite killed saul. It states that Saul commanded his armor-bearer to kill Saul but the armor bearer refused. It says that Saul killed himself with his own sword and when the armor bearer saw that Saul was dead the armor bearer also killed himself. The next chapter describes that the amalekite claimed to have killed Saul but we learned in the previous chapter that that wasn't true.
    1 Samuel 31:4-5
    "[4]Then said Saul unto his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.
    [5]And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword, and died with him."

      This same thing caught my attention too but David took the Amalekite's word and killed (slew) him for killing Saul. Searching for understanding.

    • @christopherrodarte9822

      @@Dubblesteel Maybe the amalekite wanted to take credit for Saul's death knowing that Saul was trying to kill David. Maybe he was seeking position and/or favor from David by lying. He lied and he claimed to have killed God's anointed. That was a double bad decision. David believed him and had him killed, but the amalekite seemed to have brought it on himself.

      @@christopherrodarte9822 this is what I think too. It is possible that saul was not wearing his crown into battle given this is reality where people die instead of an action movie. Maybe his crown was stolen because he left it in encampment:

    When it says that Saul fell on his sword, i dont think it was accidental, I'm pretty sure that was the way the writer was implying that Saul tried to kill himself.

    • @christopherrodarte9822
      @christopherrodarte9822 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's correct. It clearly says that Saul fell upon his own sword because his armor bearer didn't kill Saul as Saul requested. The armor bearer did the same after he saw that Saul was dead.

    Your ornament, Israel, is slain on your heights. How did the heroes fall! 20 Do not report it in Gath, do not proclaim it in the streets of Askalon, That the daughters of the Philistines do not rejoice, That the daughters of the uncircumcised do not rejoice. 21 O mountains of Gilboa, dew and rain shall not fall on you, nor shall there be fields from which lift offerings come; for there the shield of the heroes was shamefully thrown, the shield of Saul, as if he had not been anointed with oil! 22 Jonathan's bow never receded from the blood of the slain, from the fat of the heroes, and Saul's sword never returned empty. 23 Saul and Jonathan, loved and lovely in life, are not parted in death either; they were faster than eagles, stronger than lions! 24 Ye daughters of Israel, weep for Saul, who dressed you beautifully in crimson, who adorned your clothes with ornaments of gold. 25 How did the heroes fall in the middle of the battle! Jonathan lies slain on your heights! 26 I am sorry for you, my brother Jonathan; you were very dear to me! Your love was wonderful to me, more than love for women! 27 How have the heroes fallen and lost the weapons of war

    please sir am always confused about who exactly killed King Saul.
    did he kill himself on the sword as in 1samuel 31 or the amelekite who reported his death to David in 2SAMUEL 1. who exactly killed him?

    • @appianmedia
      @appianmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It is certainly something that has been debated for many years. Either the Amalekite lied to David in order to try and win favor (David was instead angry at the man) or the account in I Samuel simply summarized the story and left out the part where the Amalekite came and finished the job. Either way, there are several ways to show that the two accounts do not necessarily contradict.
