  • The 2018 Lexus LS 500h, the full hybrid version of Lexus’ new flagship sedan, was unveiled in Geneva.
    The model, which follows the world premiere of the twin-turbo gas V6-powered LS 500 at the 2017 NAIAS in Detroit, is a further manifestation of how Lexus has reimagined the luxury sedan, presenting bold design, enhanced performance and a sophisticated appeal to capture the imagination of forward-thinking customers.
    The car’s design successfully brings together the virtues of a long-wheelbase four-door sedan with a low, coupe-like profile, positioning the LS perfectly across the growing sedan and coupe segments.
    The cabin has benefited from an equally new approach, focusing on “progressive comfort,” interpreting Japanese aesthetics and craftsmanship traditions in the context of an advanced, luxurious and innovative vehicle interior such as the unique door trim ornamentation. Notably, the LS 500 was honored at the NAIAS with the EyesOn Design Award for Design Excellence - Interior Design.
    The LS 500h’s Lexus Multi Stage Hybrid System combines a 3.5-liter V6 Dual VVT-i gas engine with two electric motors, together delivering a total output of 354 horsepower. The engine makes optimal use of Dual VVT-i (intelligent variable valve-timing), with timing precisely gauged in line with driving conditions, helping to secure high torque at all engine speeds. Measures to reduce friction losses and thus improve engine efficiency include the adoption of narrow, lightweight roller rocker arms and low-friction timing chains, while D-4S direct fuel injection helps create optimum combustion conditions, contributing to enhanced fuel economy.

    If I drove on salt everyday to work, I would definitely choose the Lexus. Hopefully there is a pavement tire option too.

    Lexus stay having crazy facial expressions/ surfaces on their cars. however, I like that they are being "sketch like" with their models. 😊

    The design will straight out cringe people with certain disorders. Lexus is trying so hard to escape the boring category but they have simply lost class with the overwhelming amount of details in every corner in this car inside and out. The S class is simple elegance, this is a ricer large sedan without the loud muffler.

    There going to need to put more than a 3.5 v6 hybrid to compete with an S Class. People don't pay big bucks for good fuel economy. The car looks good, but it's so hard to compete with the benchmark.

      John Le Sorry, if I'm not mistaken, I meant that there's no option for a V12 with Lexus. If price needs to go up, so be it, but I feel that ultra lux cars need a v12, for a smooth quiet ride at low rpm. That being one of the factors that S Class got.

    I am underwhelmed to say the least. I am sure it is a technical exercise of brilliance. But it comes across as emotionally captivating and inspiring as Luke warm beer. I mean, for real inspiration.. look at the BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso. That car.. stance... presence.. emotion.. And I don't even like BMW's!

    Nope. Definitely not. This Lexus is a mish mash of incoherent design ideas. It does not look classy, elegant or luxurious. Lexus can't really ever match its German competition. It can therefore stick to competing with Infiniti, Lincoln, Genesis etc.

    • @SDav21
      @SDav21 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    No one in their right mind would buy a re-skinned Toyota or Hyundai over the big Germans. You have to be insane or a true fanboy to choose these over a S-Class, 7 series or A8. Just stop trying guys, its srsly embarrassing and is nothing short of showing your desperation to appease an unattainable market, and I am speaking as someone who has Japanese heritage.
