  • In this upload I feed all of those babies she left behind. I break down how to disperse & separate & feed out fruit flies. Hopefully I can provide a how to for someone trying their hand at raising baby spiders & their feeders. It's quite a bit of work but it's rewarding. I LOVE IT! Thanks for watching. Enjoy!!!

    I thing I've learned, through error, is that if you kill some fruit flies in the freezer get your colony ready to dispense, pull the container out of the freezer, dump it, and if you're fast you can dump some more in and close it up and the air will still be cold enough they'll slow down immediately and you won't have to put it back in the fridge

      There are several sites where you can get them. Just Google fruits flies for sale. They will last a couple of months. But if you buy fruit fly food you can keep them going longer by making new cultures. Just put some food in a new container and add some flies. In a couple weeks you have a bunch more flies

I’m wondering if I have to wait for it to have its first molt? I’m worried that it won’t eat and it could die. Is there anything else I could give it besides water, or should I leave it alone and wait?

    I found a jumper sling on my window and decided to raise it. I’m worried it isn’t actually eating the flies I’m giving it. I find carcasses, but the sling’s abdomen doesn’t seem to be expanding. Perhaps the flies are dying on their own, or the sling is just killing and tossing them? It’s only about the size of the flies, but I’m wondering if I should offer a different type of food. I’ve only had him a week, but would love to see this little guy grow into a healthy adult.

    • @XRemARx
      @XRemARx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wild caught spiders, even slings can stress out in their new enclosure. I have received 2 phidippus regius slings that i bought captive bred yesterday.
      You will know when the fruit fly is eaten because 1. Abdomen is bigger. 2. Fruit fly is shriveled up from the spider turning it into a smoothie and sucking it out .
      Also, some wild caught spiders, even jumping spiders, don’t do well in captivity. Release him into the wild because hes so stressed out that hes not eating :/
      If you want an amazing jumper spider pet, get them captive bred. They’re much less stressed out and used to being in enclosures their whole life.
