This guy may be the first one to be genuainly honest with his knowledge and i actually appreciatte him for it. He deserves even more acknowledgment. I haven't used any of the newfound info i've learned from him in the past few days but i 100% will in the next few weeks once i get my newly attained panels up. Anyways, his info is so good that i honestly feel like i need to say thank you before i even try any of it. [If you ever see this, 'love ya, Jeff] 🤟

Jeff proves that it's all about attitude. A good attitude goes a long way with people and complaining isn't helpful at all. He doesn't seem like a complainer.

i liked the honesty about plugins (even if i bought soothe2 so that ship is sailed lol), i think too many youtube channels and pro mixers have become more and more plugin advertizers, it's difficult to trust all the "GAME CHANGER" reviews of plugins.

You saved me from a "death spiral" mix of my home recorded Christmas record! Thank you so much!

He does not mince words and seems to have a broad distaste for snake oil, hype, and shortcuts, which is refreshing in an internet media landscape which seems to favour “must-have plugins” and “mind-blowing mix hacks”

Agreed about Soothe it sucks all the harmonics and emotive layers from a sound... especially when used on vocals, as is popular at the moment. I've heard it used on background elements to better effect, but it's certainly overrated. Good interview.

I'll have to mess with it more. I know a lot of people like it a lot, but I haven't used it a ton yet.

Holy fucking shit! i just got the super old KRK shit he's talking about because it's all i could afford because my dad died when i was twelve and left me nothing and so i'm super proud of my cheap gear that may work for me now that i know what Jeff has been willing to share lately and then they said that. Wow. This is no hate but i'm genuinly unsubbing from this channel just because i feel like i match more with Jeff. No disrespect to you and i'm so sorry you lost a parent but i lost both as a child and was left nothing, i hope you understand. Much love and i apreciatte anything i've picked up from you along the way as well 🙏📿❤

Hey Nicholas, I think you may have misunderstood something there.
Both my parents are alive, and neither of them are wealthy! :-)
I was just saying that, before getting resentful of others who do come from wealthier backgrounds, it’s wise to acknowledge we may not know their whole stories, and that everyone has their own unique challenges, regardless of how rosy their lives may seem from the outside.
The advice to not be resentful of those who have a lot is not because I grew up with a lot. It’s just good advice period.
      I hope that helps!

Not a problem Nicholas. Misunderstandings happen. I’m sure I could have been even more clear on my side!
I’m so sorry for your loss, and I am wishing you a life filled with music and happiness.
      Very best,
      Justin

PS: here's an episode I did on this exact subject. It's called "Rich Kids in the Music Industry". It's not one of my most popular because the topic is so niche, but it's one of my personal favorites of all time, and I think it's one of the best and most useful I've ever done. I hope it proves helpful to you:
