The fact that I always lose weight on vacation was life changing. More to the point: what changes? More walking and less cortisol. So I've tried to replicate those two conditions when I'm not on vacation.
Just walking is great. I've just been walking a lot after work and on weekends and I'm starting to get in shape again after really falling off the horse a couple years ago.
@@Whatsupdiva I think I eat more on vacation, and every time I dread to step on the scale and it turns out I lost weight. I have real worked on eliminating stress from my life and getting better sleep.
@gabrielafonseca4034 I went on vacation in April and lost 4lbs in 2 1/2 days because we were out walking all day having fun not focusing on eating and by the end of the day, we were so tired, we knocked out,lol
Finding ways around cravings has been the hardest. What works for me: *if craving sweets, eat fruit or dried fruit (like fresh apple, or dried apricots) *if craving crispy (chips), eat almonds or walnuts *if craving alcohol, brush your teeth and use mouthwash after. (this also works for craving sweets)
My biggest problem is the amount of food I can eat between “feeling full” and “feeling stuffed.” When I feel full, I can still eat a whole lot more before feeling “stuffed.” Some people (like my wife and daughter), when they feel full, that’s it. They’re done. Food just tastes gross to them when full. But to me, the gap between “feeling full” and “feeling stuffed” is huge. If I eat a well-balanced meal, I can get full with just about 500-600 calories. However, I could potentially eat like 3000 calories before feeling “stuffed.” This used to always be a challenge for me when I was eating out. I have learned how to stop when I’m feeling full. I still don’t always do it, though. 😂
The 2 hacks I use the most often are these: 1). Meal prep lunch with something that is high protein and low calorie. One of my favorites is a grilled chicken wrap with a side of Greek yogurt with berries. It’s only about 350 calories total, but also 45 grams of protein that keeps me full for 4-5 hours, 2) If you have a day where you eat too much (maybe on vacation or celebrating), just eat a little bit less the next 2-3 days. You don’t have to be perfect every day, and you can just go a little extra (by extra, I mean eating a little less) the next few days to make up for the treat day. For example, I went all out at Disney World one day last week, and the scale said I was 4 pounds heavier the next day. No problem. The next 2 days, I ate high protein, low calorie meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and skipped dessert, also no snacking. This was about 900-1000 calories below maintenance each day for me. After the first two days, I was still 1 pound higher than normal on the scale, so I did one more day, but had a dessert as well to take the edge off. So I was about 500 calories below maintenance on the 3rd day. And then, the next morning, I was back to my normal weight. You don’t have to be the same every day. You can one day off and work harder the next day or two (or three, in my case, since I went crazy).
The ROI of this video is very high! It really emphasizes the motto of you can do it. ❤ Definitely worth a rewatch for anybody to *intentionally* craft their path to their goals vs passively listening.
This was amazing! Loved the fast paced speeding of this, just concise advice straight through! It was good to see that I actually do a lot of them already. I don’t lose much weight but I just feel better with more energy, so that’s definitely a win from before when my lack of energy took me from one bad decision to the next.
Thanks for the practical tips which can be used not only for weight loss, but also for time management and also helping to sleep faster. Keeps up the good work
Oh another good tip is to eat with chopsticks. It forces you to eat slowly because you can only take smaller parts and if you're learning to use them then that takes time lol. I love my metal pair since its dishwssher safe.
Do you have any advice on how to motivate myself to cook at home? I spend hundreds on delivery every month because I cannot bring myself to do it and it is a big contributor to my weight. No amount of easy cooking videos on TH-cam motivates me and eating uncooked food like salads is unappealing.
What about a healthy meal kit delivery service? Probably cheaper than the current take out cost. Still a little bit of reheating, but it would be faster than the time it takes for delivery.
You can do shortcut meals like buying pre-cooked items. Rotisserie chicken or Del Real's meats and pair it with canned beans, minute rice(add a pinch of tomato bouillon for red rice), pre-made pico de gallo or guac, and salad. Another way is instead of meal prep, do ingredient prep. Having pre-diced or pre-sliced vegetables and fruits ready to just throw into a recipe makes the cooking process easier. There's a higher chance that you will reach for pre-sliced fruit vs the snacks. (Works for kids too! My nephew will not touch or see fruit unless it's pre-sliced haha) I combined dark chocolate pretzels (3pcs) with a small dish of fruit and that's helped with curbing sweets cravings. If I want chips I get a small bowl with chips and drink it with jasmine tea. It makes the chips taste less intense and takes me longer to eat them. Just some things that work for me~!
@@carmenm4479Thank you for your reply. I haven't tried them because I feel like I should be cooking, but then always end up doing delivery instead. I might as well save some money and try a meal kit instead.
I wonder if the problem is your kitchen: too many appliances, contraptions, etc. which means more clean up. All you need is a knife, cutting board, one frying pan, and one pot. Just a guess... Also, I cook double on purpose and those "leftovers" become meal starters for next day. Effectively, I only cook one dish per day (for example, chicken), and use rice and vegetable from the night before. Next day - same chicken, but cook new side - potatoes. And so forth. I realize this is not for everyone; many people want something new/freshly prepared, but minimizing and simplifying your kitchen items does work for everyone.
Hey so I can try these hacks but at the end of the day it's Cico. Right ? So I'm a really short woman and my 1lb loss a week is 1200 but I'm struggling to stick to this as each meal is so little calories that I end up eating 1300-1500 by eating more low cal snacks or making my portion bigger. I could drink all the water in the world etc but it won't stop my misery. Should I just give up? Am I cooked ? I only lost 8lbs this year. I dont look any different. I took photos.
I like the idea of 52/17, but I am a teacher and can't do that. Any ideas? I find at 10:30 I really want a snack. I try a drink, nuts etc but the kids try to give me their sugary snack and push it on you. Any ideas?
What if you try eating some protein at 10:00 and then still allow yourself to have the unhealthy snack at 10:30? Telling myself I can eat anything I want, as long as I eat the good thing prior, eventually l don’t feel like the unhealthy thing after about two weeks. I call it the ‘eat everything’ diet and it’s helped me lose weight. I can have 16 snickers in the afternoon, as long as I have a bunch of protein and veggies for lunch. After a couple weeks I never feel like eating the treats. Sometimes I even tell myself I should have some good treats and I’m like, “I really, really don’t feel like it. Doesn’t even sound good.” This is coming from someone who could (and has!) eaten Oreos and ice cream for breakfast.
Tell them to stop offering you their food or you’ll lower their grade. Or they’ll have to sit in the back corner facing the wall for 5 minutes. Or they won’t get to go to recess. They won’t offer you food anymore. Something with fiber is really filling. I enjoy carrots with hummus.
How can you repeat "eat lean protein" while constantly showing a chicken leg with greasy skin? What about BEANS? -> No cholesterol, no saturated fat, but packed with PROTEINS, fibers, vitamins, and minerals! This is on the top list of healthiest food making satiated.
You did well Nj,you are not the problem, she is,thank God you took everything,my aunty did the same when we were young, after buying everything this girls mum came to greet us in the village and the girl decided to go follow her mum on the day, they were travelling back to lagos,my aunty got angry and stripped her of everything
1. Give protein to your food 3. Use a smaller bowl and smaller fork 4. Don’t watch anything while eating 5. Drink water after each serving (wrong!) 6. It gets silly, I gave up
A ton of pseudoscience and some bad advice in here. One of the bad advice pieces: if you are experiencing frustration or negative emotions, don't just write about it! Writing about it in a constructive way ("this can get better because ____" or "I've been through this before and I've turned out okay", etc.) can be helpful, but just writing how you feel will make you more angry / frustrated / whatever you felt initially.
That’s not true. I always write about what I’m feeling as a way to vent and I never try to put a positive spin on it, and it helps a ton, and I usually feel less angry or frustrated or whatever. You are allowed to feel and write about what you feel without having to find something positive or a solution for it immediately.
Oh another good tip is to eat with chopsticks. It forces you to eat slowly because you can only take smaller parts and if you're learning to use them then that takes time lol. I love my metal pair since its dishwssher safe.
