Thanks so much for making this. I've always been curious about the internals.

Epá. Um tuga a falar de transmissão e RF....mesmo um assunto de nicho. Contudo tem bastantes views. Parabéns.

Very nice review. being in the RAN sector I could totally feel you.

How many kilometers will it transmit to the phone from the tower antenna?

Cool video! I always wondered if there were software defined radios involved and now I know 😀

such nightmare when the equipment fails especially when communicating between two sites. Spent days trying to fix IDU/ODU faults

Boas, você tem algum documento sobre equipamentos e seus alarms? Algo tipo alarme troubleshooting.

Interesting. So Vodafone Portugal uses Ericsson RBS6000 for GSM/UMTS and a seperate Huawei DBS3900 system for LTE. Why not integrate all of them into the RBS6000 or DBS3900? I guess for cost and down-time.

Wow that's awesome, I never thought they'd use SDR in the cellular realm. I use a cheap SDR to pick up the APCO P25 Phase 2 radio system my county uses.

Yes Michael, that's exactly the same principle, the same radio hardware is capable of working different modes of transmission it only depends on the processing software on the DUs . Frequency ranges or bands and power capabilities are the only factors to take into account for each radio access technology. Today as the FPGA's chips are becoming more powerful it's possible to cover and process immense swats of spectrum!

As I anderstand, if RRU uses UMTS and GSM at the same time, transmiting will be, for example, for UMTS anr reciving for GSM?
    P.S. Sorry for my gramar)
