That should be a felony, not a misdemeanor. Any official, elected or appointed, that lies about, misconstrues or violates the law to effect an arrest/charge/conviction should be charged with violating their oath of office and violation of the public trust. They should IMMEDIATELY be stripped of all authority/titles and be prohibited from holding any office/position anywhere in the state for life. They should also be prohibited from any recourse of appeal or pardon so they have to live the consequences of their actions for the rest of their life.

When the trooper asked for my documents I handed over my license and cpl. Before opening my glove boxed I told the officer that before opening it I wanted to let you know that my firearm was in there. The officer responded by thanking me for letting him know and instructed me to go ahead and open the glove box. I gave him my info and he went to his car. Upon returning he said he wasn’t positive if he clocked me or the car beside me and let me go with a warning. He followed up by saying that he really appreciated me informing him about the firearm before opening the glove box. I'm in Texas and there is a "duty to inform" however this is where it gets sketchy as Texas is a constitutional carry state which means a license is not required to carry a firearm. So if you are licensed you are required to inform an officer however if you are not licensed then there is no duty to inform (dont blame me I didnt write the law but thats what it says). If I get pulled over I just keep my hands on the wheel and before reaching for anything I will say "sir/ma'am before I reach for anything I want to inform you I do have my pistol holstered at my 3 o'clock". They've always been appreciative and just said something like alright thanks I just need your license and insurance. Just simply letting them know has actually gotten me out of a couple tickets down to just warnings. Hell I had one night a deputy sheriff stopped me for failure to signal and he appreciated me telling him then after we had the intro and such out of the way asked me what I carry and what range I go to, I told him I was actually going to the range now. He was confused and said that its night time so what range is possibly open, so I told him theres a 24/7 keycard access range right down the street that I'd be happy to show him. He gave me a warning and asked if he could follow me to check out the range, I said sure and we went to the range together.
TL:DR Like all your videos but as of Sept 2021 Texas is not a duty to inform state unless you possess a license to carry. It's just a respectful thing to do.

I was stopped for jaywalking in Portland OR in 2001. The officer approached me, and asked if I had any weapons on me, and I told him "yes, I have a knife in my pocket". He immediately took 3 steps back, pulled his gun, and ordered me to get on my knees. Long story short, the interaction ended about 10 minutes later, and I left with a ticket for jaywalking. But, should I have had a gun pointed at me for jaywalking? And, considering how nervous, twitchy, and just generally on edge so many officers are these days, this interaction could have very easily ended badly for me. I can't even imagine telling the wrong police officer I have a gun.

First I think you need someone to provide you training if you have not done so already. Defending your self with a pistol is not easy and it takes some practice. What city do you live near? There’s several training areas in our state. I do not recommend open carry. For several reasons. The main one is that if someone reports you and says they felt intimidated by you in some way because of your firearm you might loose your license. It’s just not good to advertise that you have one on you

Out of my 20 years of driving, the last 5 of which have been as a professional driver, I've been pulled over once. I had a tail light burned out, and before the cop could write me a ticket, I informed him I have a replacement bulb, and can change it out on the spot. He let me, and then sent me on my way, no ticket.
So, my point is, you can avoid being pulled over entirely by doing these two things:
    1. Know, observe, and obey traffic laws,
    2. Keep your vehicle maintained, and keep spare parts and tools on hand.
    That's it.
Like my dad taught me, "You don't get pulled over for speeding if you aren't speeding." That's why I use my cruise control, set it to the posted limit, and update as needed.
If you don't get pulled over, you eliminate this firearm scenario entirely. I really don't get why y'all are always in such a damn hurry to get to the next red light, anyway. It's as if speeders don't realize traffic patterns are a thing, and it's gonna take X amount of time to get to Y destination. Speeding only wastes fuel, adds vehicle wear, puts you and others at risk (other vehicles assume you're going the speed limit when judging if they have time to pull out), and it won't get you to your destination so much sooner as to be worth a $300 or more ticket. Besides, if you get pulled over, it may be quite some time before you get to where you were going. Instead of arriving 30 seconds sooner, now you're 20 minutes late, and have to blow a day going to traffic court.
So, be like a pro like me; drive well and well within the law, and never have to tell an officer you're armed. It ain't their business, so don't make it their business with reckless driving.

I was pulled over for making an illegal left turn in Spokane several years ago. It was about 2:00am and I had just left the train station with two hardass looking friends of mine. I put my head and both hands out the window and watched him approach and then told him, "Before we get started, I'd like you to know that I'm carrying a loaded pistol on a CPL."
He asked me, "Why did you tell me that?"
I told him, "Just out of respect for what you do. If you know I'm carrying, that takes the guesswork out of it for you, and you don't have to wonder about it."
I then handed him my CPL, license, registration and insurance, he took a quick glance, handed them back, and told me to have a nice day.
I shook his hand and thanked him for letting me off without a ticket. 👉👮👍👋

I do not live in WA but I've always seen it as basic civility to inform an officer, if pulled over, that I have a weapon on me whether they ask or not. I start by saying that I have a valid permit to carry and then I inform them I am armed. This seems to put an officer at ease, it shows them that I am concerned about not just my safety but theirs as well. That I understand the stress of their job, that I know they worry about a simple traffic stop possibly being the end of their life and do not want them to worry where I am concerned. Whether a law requires it or not, I believe it is the right thing to do and consider it to be common courtesy.

I don’t like to collect docs from wallet or glove box before the officer is next to me because I fear the moving around in the car could be miss interpreted (jumpy cop syndrome) so I wait till the officer is by my window and requests the paperwork. If I am armed getting to my wallet may expose my firearm so in that context before reaching for wallet i declare I have a cpl location of wallet, drivers, cpl and firearm before reaching for the docs. So far I have only good things to say about the police , very pleasant very professional a pleasure to engage with.
