You can make your video +10 minutes last to make some extra "income" to boost your "leadership" and reduce "upkeep" for your own "unit". TH-cam unique building is very useful you know...
- Press N for zoom (Good for cinematics) - Hold shift, right click and drag to draw a waypoint as shown in the video, but you can also connect it to an enemy, so your units will follow the waypoint then attack. Perfect for flanking.
would it be good for flanking? when getting near the enemy will they auto charge to get the best out of the engagement? because thats half the point of flanking in the first place :P
@@whiskizyo2067 I think if you are using the, shift, R click and drag method they will auto charge, but when following waypoints, they tend to stop at each one briefly, which can mess up your charge or end up getting counter charged.
you can shift click to set a few waypoints, and then shift right click a unit and from there on out it will move as it normally would when given a attack order, great for ordering cavalry around a front line to attack archers or siege, they will still charge, less reliable for rear charging, since it's more likely that the unit you targeted won't be easily accesible anymore. You can still order cavalry to run around and behind the enemy army, only to then manually order them to attack a unit. Shift left click for the waypoints and then shift right click for a rear charge still works, but the delay means you sometimes attack units that are no longer exposed.
I think what would have been a little thing you could have added with the Wood Elf tech buildings would be to also add that you can do the same for Bretonnia economic buildings.
6:57.. ONE of the most useful things.. ? THE most useful thing. I had no fucking idea, I've been moving my troops one battalion at a time to get them into the exact position I desired as you can't select multiple groups and expect them to keep their current position, relative to one another, and move them forward in that stance as they spread out into this worthless, horizontal gimpline. You have saved me SO much time and many pauses with this information. I am in your debt, sir.
Well, I'm glad that you know now. It's pretty much the most useful way to control units in battles. You can use control as well while doing this to rotate your formation.
You actually can do that. If you group the unites and click the little padlock icon you will be able to move them and they will remain in the desired formation.
@@ArjanL1979 Oh yeah I should have mentioned about having multiple groups, or simply selecting the units/entire army and keep them in their current formation. By holding Alt and dragging the selected units into position. I wish I knew this when I first started playing lol
Good video, I love how most of these "features" are CA dropping the ball and now it's a feature... like the second quick first person shot follow-up and the buildings for elves.
I'm impressed I thought this would be one of those shitty videos talking about really obvious stuff, but I didn't know about a fair bit of these :) Especially the first person rapidfire, I guess I have to git gud at artillery now! The flying units info is very helpful as well, I use a lot of flying units! I was also unaware of some advanced controls in the battlescape, so thanks for pointing it out :)
Had no idea you could replace the lord, remember it gave me a lot of grief playing the beastmen when my lords got assassinated, because even when they come back I thought there was no way to get the buildings back in their possession
Total War Zone well if the lord dies you have to select a new lord to lead the army but all the buildings are still there just under a different lord, I assume if you can just swap the lord from the available lord pool after he's healed it would be the same as before he was wounded
Another thing to add on regarding your first person artillery. It auto reloads whenever you enter first person mode. so, instead of waiting the full 10 secs, once your projectile hits, just cancel first person, and go back in, and fire again. Rinse and repeat.
This was a well made video, every point was explained concisely and having timestamps in description is great! I don't really play warhammer and only knew a couple of these from my limited playtime. Good work!
Didn't know any of the cinematics, the flying unit movement, the fleets or the 1st person faster firing function. Very good video, hoping to see more :D
I knew about the navy skins for each faction, the different war targets for different allies and (most of) the key combinations for moving your army around. The rest of it was new to me, excellent video :-)
205 hours in game and I didn't know pretty much any of these just the fleets, holy shit that advance commands for army control are really going to setup up my game thanks for that man.
Great advice all around, but the last one about moving units in formation without locking them in group was something I didn't even know I needed, thank you!
got 600 hours into the game, the only thing i didnt know was about the upkeep costs for mounts. good video with nice clips i can tell alot of work went into this
Thanks man! Didnt know the thing with the flying units and those SHIFT-commands. I love Total War and this will come in pretty handy. Definetly subscribed
Not sure if this has been mentioned but as a side note the Dwarven sea transport is the Nautilus submersible from GW's ancient Man O' War tabletop sea combat game. I still have a box of them at my parents' place somewhere...

Hey there, could you make a video about the stalk ability? What is the normal spotting range for the different units, and how long is the spotting range when facing a stalking unit?
would love to see another like this but more focused on the campaign aspects of it. ie. using multiple agents to maximize profits in specific/special capitals spamming small gifts early game to get quick confederations (small gifts are $400 early game and go up to $2000 late game) which diplomacy ratings you need for certain deals (15-25 will get you non aggression/ trade agreements, 25-35 military access and so on) you can declare war on a target without them bringing their allies into the war by going into diplomacy with one of their other enemies and agreeing to join their war against that target (usually can ask for money to do it as well) as vamps, you never need to build a single military building anywhere, you can get massive battle site markers by raising a cheap stack or 2 of zombies to accompany you into any battle and make sure most of them die to get a massive body count at the end of the battle. if the death toll is over 4000 then you will be able to raise any unit in the vampire roster from the dead after a few turns. i dunno, shit like that would be pretty useful to a lot of players and im sure you can find things that i dont know as well. either way, i enjoyed this video dude, welcome back!
That was really helpful, thanks. Didnt know any except that you could self target (didnt know about the faster rate of fire tho) and the military target one. And the Alt move.

Been playing Warhammer total war for years and there were some features mentioned here that i had known about but totally forgotten existed and stopped using long ago that are actually very useful lol. One thing that i havnt found info on is capturing artillery units. When winning against an army of the same faction in campaign it is possible to gain their artillery units after the battle by capturing them. I have 100% done this with dwarves cannons, tomb kings catapults and i think empire....But im not actually sure how i did it. Maybe it just a chance effect if the crew are driven off the artillery piece and totally wiped out, or maybe they need to be kept alive. Im really not sure of the mechanics but it rarely happens because you need to attack an army firstly of the same faction that has artillery with your army that isn't a full 20 stack to allow the artillery unit to be captured at all, so thats a fairly rare scenario. I just dont know if its 100% chance, if all factions can do it, if theres any in battle factors that count (like killing or not killing the artillery unit)
I always saw the "Guided artillery" pieces but had no idea how I was supposed to guide them. Didn't know I could actually control the artillery. That's awesome. Is that option available in other Total War games?
Good stuff. I know the alt group move thing, but how do you get the units with different speed values to march at the same pace? It's embarrassing that I don't know that yet after so many hours played.
First real video! If you have any feedback or suggestions please let me know. Timestamps are in the description. How many of these were new for you?

Yes, you can, but I thought it's way more obvious for that artillery unit.
Yeah, but the description of the hellcannon say the projectiles can be guided so is no surprise.
I put 970 hours into the game and the only one I didn't know about was 3 (flying units and fatigue).
