The Truth About The Loon UV Infiniti Light: Review and Response

  • We hope this video clears up any confusion about this awesome UV light. When it first came out, it was touted at 10 watts but turns out, due to some design changes, it is now rated at 3 watts, but with the same output.
    We love Loon's products and these wonderful rechargeable lights. We apologize for any misinformation provided in our 1st marketing of this product. It was certainly not on purpose and we were just relating the facts as we were told originally.
    Now that we have it all cleared up, we can tell you this: The light is STILL as powerful as ever and is selling like CRAZY! By far the best UV Light we have used.
    Let us know your thoughts!
    Here's the Official Loon Statement from Brett Zundel about this light:
    "Historically we have used watts as a unit of measure because of its familiarity with users, and because it was helpful in illustrating the relative strength of our lights. With the introduction of the UV Infiniti Light, we encountered the need to explain the relative power of our lights differently.
    The UV Infiniti Light was designed as a 10W light. During development of the product a change in the components lowered the wattage, but no the actual output of the light. In other words, it because more efficient in the same way that an LED bulb that uses 50 watts is far brighter than an incandescent bulb that uses 50 watts.
    I hope that helps!"

    Are those who feel this is actually a “controversy” and have the time to worry about this wattage issue, serious? I feel like I’m being punked here. Come on folks ... who really cares? Noble fisherman & those who tie, rise above and please... let the endless ripples flow by your soul and enjoy. P. S. Mad River, we never doubted you... your heart is in the right place - don’t let the “heelots” get u down!

      mrdjsbizz Copy that and thanks. Yes, you’d be amazed at the haters who pick and jab at everything we do. Sad but we laugh, and are still doing what we do.....and they aren’t!!!’

    Thanks for the demo. I am currently using the small loon light for big buildup. Looks like I need the infinity. Thanks again

    Hell, I still rock that blue old school light. Still cures resin a decade later. When it breaks I'll get a sweet new fancy one. No controversy just cheap.

    Good review, nice show & tell. Have you used the Loon UV Mega light and compared it to this? Would be interested in your thoughts as I’m led to believe the Mega light is more powerful (and expensive) to this version

      Junior,
      Yes, we sold that light for the time that Loon offered it. Many of us around here still have it as it does work pretty well. Think Brian is using his in the Plantation Crab tutorial.
      It is not although more powerful than the Infinity. The Infinity is a pretty significant improvement in several ways.....and.....is a bit cheaper. Would not pay more for the Mega when you can buy the Infinity for a few dollars less.
      Hope that helps and feel free to call if any further questions.

    Any idea how long one charge would last and when do you know that the battery is no longer able to accept charges like when it’s too old? Thanks.

      You'd have to give a call or e-mail to the shop for that info. They will be happy to help and can. Thanks.

    Doesn’t matter if it’s a 1000w torch, the uv spectrum is 395nM so people getting mad about wattage is moot. What I would like to know is, can this be used while the usb is plugged in?

    • @Madriveroutfitters
      @Madriveroutfitters  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it works while plugged in. However, the USB that it comes with is only around 20-inches. So unless you have an outlet close by, it's not really long enough for a tethered solution.
      Also, the light changes colors which lets you know it's low on charge so you can plug in before it dies. This can really save your butt when tying so it doesn't just die out on ya!
      Hope this helps!

      Mad River Outfitters I use a power bank so the length of the cord is fine and it will always run at full power.

    I switched to Solarez resin and the light isn't as important anymore. The resin is so much better quality that regardless of your light, you just hold it further or closer, 3-7 secs to adjust the cure time.

    The U V resin I use you don't need three different types if resin you simply stand it on a radiator to warm the resin for a few seconds the n you have thin UV resin as well as thick if you don't warm the resin

    The light seemed to work as advertised.

    • @Madriveroutfitters
      @Madriveroutfitters  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Jesse. It is fantastic.
      The orignal information though had it at 10 watts and they made some modifications and is now at 3 watts. We just wanted to be sure that our information was technically correct.
      The output and performance of the light didn't change and we still feel it is one of the best, if not the best, on the market.
      Thanks for watching.
