    Great 👍 WestJet on starting to using Boeing 787 Dreamliner just like Air Canada, already uses Beoing 787-8 and 787-9. I flown on Hainan Airlines between Calgary and Beijing China 2017 on a 787 Dreamliner and it was comfortable plane ✈️ to be on for trip to China 🇨🇳.

      Is not the seats, it's the 3-3-3 configuration. They are too narrow in all 787s with that configuration. The 787 was first designed for 2-4-2.

      @@brucebaker3523 maybe for economy, but the thing is, business class makes the most money per square foot/unit, and it is thus the most profitable part of a plane.
      So as a person who flies economy most of the time, I feel you, 3-3-3 is not the nicest, but in the case of an airline that could be facing bankruptcy --because airlines are not that profitable-- it generates more money, (while business generates more) and it is essential for the Boeing 787 dreamliner to be profitable.

    Listen handsome man, how on earth can you promote 3-3-3 cabin on the 787? It was designed for 8-abreast. When you sat in the seat talking about legs pace, did you see your shoulders sticking out? Sitting shoulder to shoulder, unless with your partner is really uncomfortable on a long-haul flight. Will avoid any airline with a 9-abreast dreamliner on long-haul.

    • @JamesBen937
      @JamesBen937 5 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      It was designed for 9. You think Boeing specifically designed for less seats for airlines that want a return on investment? Just purchase a business class if you want more space but don't expect a cheap fair but a first class experience

    • @kurbiscremesuppe
      @kurbiscremesuppe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      No, if Boeing was smart enough, they would of designed the 787 fuselage wider like the Airbus 350. The new 777x will have thinner walls inside, because most airlines went from 9-abreast to 10-abreast making the 777 also very uncomfortable for long-haul nowadays. The majority won't fly business as most of companies don't pay this anymore so don't say stupid things like buy a business class. There is such thing as being reasonable, knowing that people getting bigger, it is questionable how far seat width should be reduced.

      Dude 3-3-3 on a 787 is fine. It's just as good as, if not better than, 3-3-3 on an A350 and way better than the experience on any other airframe. I know it's a thing to hate on 3-3-3 in the 787, but fly on it and other wide bodies a few times before you make up your mind.

    • @Horizon301.
      @Horizon301. 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Will Abbott it’s cramped. The B787 should have the 2-4-W setup like the A330, it’s competitor. The American carriers messed up by getting the B787 for such reason but of course they only cared about profit. Delta should they get more A350’s is the only carrier with class leading comfort. I have flown the B787, A330, A320 family with one airline which was Qatar and for that reason I can say that the B787 was the worst.

    • @willabbott2930
      @willabbott2930 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Horizon301. See the fact that you are saying that makes me think one of two things: either 1. you've never flown on a 787 or 2. you're so biased that you can't reflect on your experiences objectively. I fly the United 787s and Singapore A350s frequently and the actual seat and physical experience is effectively the same for me (and this is a 16-17 hour flight). The Singapore 787 actually feels better than both of them (and the seat feels the most spacious), but the seats are generally close enough to the same size its a negligible difference. The 787 cabin climate is better than on any other aircraft and I promise you that compared to a 777, A330, or 767 it's a world of difference. (And I've flown on the entire current product line from both Airbus and Boeing)

    • @Horizon301.
      @Horizon301. 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Will Abbott the marketing crap got to you then did it? The whole climate thing is not something I noticed. Sure there may be an effect for some people but I was jet lagged regardless. I have flown it with Qatar so I can compare it better than you can as you are comparing it with an aircraft from another airline. Qatar have similar economy offerings on all aircraft so it’s far more representative of you ask me, only in economy though as business class varies due to the B787 having less personal space. I would fly the B747 or B777 any day over it and I have, I enjoyed it much more. The B787 is modern but only provides benefits to the airlines, not me. Even the Windows are pointless with the controls all worn out after a year of service and no one likes them really, the B77X won’t even have them. The best aircraft for comfort and noise is the A380 and A350 anyway.

      rolf s most likely a software failure mode. The plane was very light and the high G load from landing could have caused the software to think it was in a rejected takeoff situation or a fault happened and shutdown both engines as the engine computers thought the two high engine loads were a fault of the engine and automatically shut them down. This system is a ground only feature and cannot be activated in the air.

The padding on the seats is super thin, allowing more rows to be installed and after a couple of hours people won't be able to get comfortable. For those of us old enough to remember overseas flights 20 and 30 years ago, 'Premium' Economy is what regular economy used to be, except then you had a comfortable seat with cushions several inches thick.

    LOL. I guess those making comments "beautiful aircraft, etc " have never flown a Dreamliner in Economy. I have many times, on other carriers. When the gentlemen site down, and says theres a lot of room, OMG, why don't you give the viewers a side view, cause there is about 3" left, if your lucky. He also looks wider than the seat, feel sorry for the bigger guys. Its a tight cabin, period ! It's not the most comfortable cabin, the seats have not got a lot of padding, any any carrier. Even Premium Economy is tighter than older aircraft. Yes, I do think the dreamliner is a very nice aircraft, new, etc., but it has been made to fit us all like sardines.

      @Brandon Binder Yes you are right. Their last snafu occurred in Cancun Mexico about 3 weeks ago. The return plane to Canada broke and could not fly. No WestJet Supervisor or Customer Service Rep available in Cancun. Some passengers taken to a youth hotel and hotel not inform of reservations for any passengers. (A Youth Hotel?) Others told to wait at the airport or find your own hotel. When some of the little Canadian children (with their parents) found out they were not going home by a WestJet attendant they began to cry. How is that for a customer service nightmare? The poor little kids !

    it would be nice to have a direct flight to South africa as well, Johannesburgh or Cape Town, since has only three direct flights to JNB Joburg in all Americas, two dayli from GRU Sao Paulo, operate by LATAM and South African Airways, and one daily from ATL Atlanta, operate by DELTA airlines. Imagine YYZ to CPT twice weekly just for a test.

    Sadly will not be using WestJet after their new policies have been put in place (no more free seat selection during check-in 24 hours prior to a flight). I flew 5 times with them in December and 2 times in January...every time I was placed in the very back of the plane right beside the washroom. Around a $50 charge to change to a different ECONOMY seat! Not very impressive WestJet!

    Great choice of aircraft. I'll be checking for connections at Calgary from the US southwest. Air Canada had some of the best fares to Europe with a connection in Toronto. If I recall it was a Jazz CRJ from Phoenix to Toronto, as well as a United 737-800 landing in Toronto yet offering great fares onto Paris or London on the same Air Canada flight. I hope WestJet will test the same market

      Chad Markz seat manufactures sell a basic seat design and you customise it with the little touches. That’s why they look so similar, but yes Jon is pretty much correct that most are similar and it’s for that reason. The issue is that west jet have to make sure theirs are better than the other carrier with the similar seat design.

      The 3 busiest WestJet hubs in Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver will see most of the WestJet Boeing 787 Dreamliner service eventually. In 2019 WestJet 1st 3 787 planes ✈️ will be doing Calgary and Europe and domestic flights between Toronto and Calgary.
