Simeon, great job. Small suggestions, since you have many followers that are planning to join the Marines. Bring in a Female Marine by your side that will speak up from a female prospective
My son just enlisted in Marine Corps. His boot camp date is July 11th. I am watching to get info to help him. He is a natural leader and made for this. I appreciate your time in giving us this information 😄😄
My son graduated in January as the company honor graduate, honor guide of his platoon and Lance Corporal. All without JROTC, Eagle Scout, nor college! He worked his butt off too! He went in as a delayed entry, also very fit. As E3, you do make more money and it moves you up quicker.
My son is getting a meritorious promotion to Corporal. About 7 months early. He has been in about 15 months. He entered with college credit. Great info and great advice!
Don't do what I did. I was anxious about joining right away. Didn't take enough time to choose an MOS right for me, and didn't take advantage of signing up as a PFC. I remember even my recruiter told me all I need to do is get one person to enlist and she would give me the other person who she gets enlisted instead of me trying to get two people to join. I went in as a Private. I've been in for over a year and I'm still only a PFC. Hell, he's been in for 7 months (congrats again on that promotion bro) and I still don't pick up Lance until September. Basically do your research, take on leadership rolls, and listen to your recruiter if he offers you any opportunities with this.
Don't compare yourself to others, that's your first mistake. Do what's best for you, not everyone grows the same or has the advantages of how you talk, your height , how you grew up, what you learned in your teens from the people around you and your foundation. I hope everything works out for you.
You also forgot to mention if you go to boot camp and you’re high speed and get company honorman you will get promoted to Lance Corporal. I went to boot camp back in 99-00 and saw it happen.
To get corporal you must have at least 12 Time in service and 8 months time in grade so if you get Lance coming out of boot camp you wait your year and have the cutoff score at a year mark you will be a young corporal
staying under the radar is a good way to make it through bootcamp those positions are rewarding but it’s the spot light for getting smoked but it’s definitely worth it.
I'm leaving in a month to bootcamp with an associate's degree and am getting contracted as a pfc! Training tips, running tips, strength training for fireman's carry, best workouts, etc would be really helpful!

My son had that similar experience in his school. At Fort Leonardwood, MO in the Marine Detachment one had to be honor grad and have a 97% average on all tests. My son was honor grad and had a 96.996% average. His SGT filled out the paperwork for the meritorious promotion. The Commander of the Marine Detachment said that in the Marine Corps you earn everything and did not grant his promotion. He was a squared away Marine and after getting to his command, 1st Transportation Support Battalion, at Camp Pendleton made meritorious Lance Corporal, meritorious Corporal. He made Sargent in 3 years and 2 months. He was awarded 3 Navy/Marine Corp Achievement Medals and when he got out at the end of his 4 year contract he was on a "fast tract" for Staff Sargent. He eventually became a police officer in Oceanside, CA the city outside of Camp Pendleton. Rank can be made! Always work hard, keep your nose clean and do the right thing. I too made rank while in the Marine Corps. PFC after 6 months, LCpl after 7 more months and Cpl 4 months after that. That was making Corporal with a total of 17 months in Service. Semper Fi
Already have 3 referrals, so I do have contract pfc. Is there any perks to getting more than two? I’ve heard if I get 2 more referrals on boot leave I could possibly pick up lance. Is this true?
Yes I believe that is true. Usually the fastest way to pick up lance Corporal is when guys get recruiters assistance after bootcamp and get referrals while they’re already a PFC
Joshua Mozo if your just joining for benefits and training experience just join airforce or maybe even the army. If you want to go balls deep and stand out from the crowd then go Marines😎💪

So I have done 2 years of Air Force JROTC and 1 year of Navy Rotc for highschool, so 3 years total.. will I just tell my recruiter that and show him my highschool papers and documents as proof to get my E-2 rank up. Is it that easy or will I have to take a test or somewhat prove myself and get my balls in a twist from my recruiter and not get my E-2?

so if i go into boot as a pfc then how can i get lance if i wanted to be guide(pretty good at squad leader and guide from njrotc for two years and i’m in cap because i switched schools)
You can only get Lance Corporal out of bootcamp as the Company honor graduate as a guide. Otherwise if you’re a guide that doesn’t get honor grad or a squad leader it’ll just look good on your record and will probably get high pros and cons. Next opportunity for Lance will be at MOS school
Simeon Kurosky as of a while ago left is 20/25 and right is 20/40 not corrected to 20/20 and my right eye is that bad because when i was little i had to wear an eye patch on my left eye so my right can connect fully to my brain. Think that’s the way you would put it.
