1 game I never see anyone talk about, and could thrive with a good reboot is syphon filter. It was a large enough IP that it got a trilogy + many spin-off's on PSP. I played 20 minutes of the original PS4 Horizon Zero Dawn. Never went back to it. I'm so glad that I can replay the first 20 minutes again in the PS5 version. This is so wonderful for me.

A lot of people (including such EU countries as Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) will not be able to buy this "Remaster" because creating PSN account is not available in their country. In my country we need to buy PlayStation first, in order to be able to register PSN 😅

Skyrim SE on PC was given to those who had Skyrim and all DLC. if you didn't have all DLC, you didn't get SE for free. However, it is nice that they did that regardless. Plus, Bioshock gave the remastered editions of Bioshock 1 and 2 for owners of that, the Batman arkham series did the same, and Metro Exodus PC Enhanced edition was given for free also. There's so many games that just went "Here's a free upgrade!" and yet people are defending Sony here...
"At least we're not like Ubisoft releasing Assassin's Creed every 2 years!" Um... PS5 for Horizon FW, then it got Burning Shores, then LEGO Horizon, and now Horizon ZD Remaster. Meanwhile, Ubisoft has released Valhalla around PS5's launch, then Mirage, and next year we get Shadows. To me, that looks like Ubisoft is giving people fully new games, while Sony's actually pushing Horizon in your face even more but with less content.
You also ever notice how they never talk about gameplay improvements or anything, which is suspiciously always last, always mention visual, audio and graphics. Things that matter little in the grand scheme of things, not saying they don't matter at all. DMC is a franchise I can talk about for hours on end and I can tell you that those games are flawed.
"They improved the graphics, they improved the audio, they improved the visuals. It's a whole new game". What about the gameplay? Did that get any improvements? Any new animations, new enemy types? New areas? New gadgets? New weapon enhancements? New elements? Any new storylines, new quests? Any new tribes to meet or fight? New bosses? Enhanced bosses? If the answer to all of these things are no, then this "remaster" is POINTLESS.
I'm comparing this remaster to sega's upcoming remaster, Sonic x Shadow generations. Sega has a really good reason to do a remaster of generations, i.e., sonic movie 3. Sony only has money as a reason. Sega adds a lot of to base generations with a shadow campaign, while Sony might be subtracting from what they're remastering with this remaster. Sega did delist the Xbox version of generations from being purchased, and the only way to purchase base generations on steam is through a several hundred dollar collection that has every sonic game. But Sony will straight up delete the original from existence so that this one can make some money. It's like the difference between a copyright claim and a copyright strike. When I'm making sega look good with their handling of sonic x shadow generations, Sony messed up as sega is also a very shady company.
Im pretty sure why they didn’t just patch it is because they wanted to add psn linking. I think there is something on steam where you can’t change that once the game releases, or else every PlayStation and Ubisoft game would have a login feature.
If I really wanna play Horizon Zero Dawn, i'd just buy a used copy of the original instead paying $50 for a remake that doesn't need to be remade to begin with.
It really feels like Sony is on the verge of releasing remasters of games that already released on PS5, and I'm half-convinced that the only thing stopping them from actually doing so is the fact that they barely release games anymore.
About "THE Forbidden West" thing: Here in Russia during 2020 TLOU2 advertisement campain youtubers paid by Sony to promote the game, but not openly advertise it, were asked to call the game ONLY by it's localised name "Одни из нас" (transletes to "The one(plural) of us", or whatever). It may be same thing, so it is not just mindless Sony glazing, but nice side hustle for this dude.
Horizon zero got a patch for PS5 that enhanced graphics a bit. It also got a PC port, Why tf would it need a remaster ? Especially on PC where there are mods available that can add better graphics to the game than any remaster possibly could.
I'm one of those guys who think HZD can kinda qualify as a masterpiece and I don't think a remaster is necessary. Updating the character models and improving the lighting should have been a free update.

It’s common practice to remaster games that will sell. BB is great, so are many other games but it’s all business, this is nothing new. HZD will sell more games than those other ones, that’s why
Horizon glazers are something else. Other than the visual aspect, the games are mid as hell. Every mechanic they praise has been done already to death by other games, mainly Ubisoft games, Zelda and stuff like shadow of the Colossus, among others. For clarification: there is NOT a native PS5 application for HZD. The PS4 title received a patch that allowed the PS4 PRO (and PS5) hardware to be better utilized. *There will be a native PS5 application, though.. it's called HZD Remastered* and will cost you $10 (or $50) 😂😂😂
Before PlayStation state of play I was about to download horizon forbidden waste because it’s on ps plus and after seeing the horizon remaster saga I decided to never play the game to make sure I’m not contributing to the Sony act of wasting resources

Maybe not if you're talking about the complete experience because bed of chaos but at least the dragon asses are ignorable in the long run not having a lasting impression on the mood and are also quite funny. But the reskinned winter lanterns in the abyssal woods is just sad leaving a lasting impression of disappointment on shadow of the erdtree. It's about the experience not the checkboxes.

My biggest problem with Horizon:Zero Dawn was that while it was big and beautiful, there was really nothing to find. You climbed to the top of mount Takalototime and you found an impressive view and... a coffeecup. Thats it. Maybe 1 of 12 batteries you need to unlock the secret suit( dont remember the exact number). The gameplay was fun and I remember enjoying it alot but again when it came time to justify the expanse of the open world there really was nothing there to find in the way of meaningful gameplay.
Playstation is fully embracing the _"Make the players pay for the solution"_ mentality with these Paid for Patches. Because thats what they are, not "remaster upgrades."

I bought the original HZD on PS4 on launch day. I didn't play it for two weeks. Then I finally got to it, played the opening missions (mostly) said it looked nice, then never played it again. There was nothing that really enticed me gameplay wise to go back. I may have just been open world fatigued again, but if you can't draw me back in, your experience failed me.
I got Horizon Zero Dawn for like $13 on steam just to try it and it barely runs on my steam deck. The remastered version would nearly double my investment in the game. Not worth it 😆

I honestly prefer Zero Dawn over Forbidden West. No one on the PlayStation side has yet to convince me that getting Forbidden West was a major upgrade from the previous one. Just play Zero Dawn and call it a day.

The thing that makes me wonder WTF is that Sony lost a lot of money on projects (Concord) and they are going to rerecord a lot which cost more money. Yet most people that are interested in the game already own it and are going to pay the $10 dollar upgrade fee. I like HZD. I have it on PC. I have completed it twice. I won't be paying the extra £10 for the remastered version. I don't see the need for it and I don't want to sign into PSN to play a single-player game; I also won't be buying Ragnarok for that reason, and if they retain that policy, I won't be buying Horizon 3 either when it comes out or any other new Sony titles.
so instead of remastering games from the ps1, ps2, ps3 that is not backwards compatible or remastering bloodborne so it can run at 60fps we are getting horizon remaster where the graphics are tweaked a tiny bit, and it has better mocap. Meanwhile, Ubisoft has released Valhalla around PS5's launch, then Mirage, and next year we get Shadows. To me, that looks like Ubisoft is giving people fully new games, while Sony's actually pushing Horizon in your face even more but with less content.
You also ever notice how they never talk about gameplay improvements or anything, which is suspiciously always last, always mention visual, audio and graphics. Things that matter little in the grand scheme of things, not saying they don't matter at all.
DMC is a franchise I can talk about for hours on end and I can tell you that those games are flawed.
"They improved the graphics, they improved the audio, they improved the visuals. It's a whole new game". What about the gameplay? Did that get any improvements? Any new animations, new enemy types? New areas? New gadgets? New weapon enhancements? New elements? Any new storylines, new quests? Any new tribes to meet or fight? New bosses? Enhanced bosses? If the answer to all of these things are no, then this "remaster" is POINTLESS.
I'm comparing this remaster to sega's upcoming remaster, Sonic x Shadow generations. Sega has a really good reason to do a remaster of generations, i.e., sonic movie 3. Sony only has money as a reason. Sega adds a lot of to base generations with a shadow campaign, while Sony might be subtracting from what they're remastering with this remaster. Sega did delist the Xbox version of generations from being purchased, and the only way to purchase base generations on steam is through a several hundred dollar collection that has every sonic game. But Sony will straight up delete the original from existence so that this one can make some money. It's like the difference between a copyright claim and a copyright strike. When I'm making sega look good with their handling of sonic x shadow generations, Sony messed up as sega is also a very shady company.
My only question is why would they have to put the whole mocap suit on just to re-record dialogue like that person said?
HZD is a perfectly cromulent mod for Far Cry Primal that added robots and removed the Ubisoft stank, but no one needs a remaster of it.
Im pretty sure why they didn’t just patch it is because they wanted to add psn linking. I think there is something on steam where you can’t change that once the game releases, or else every PlayStation and Ubisoft game would have a login feature.

If I really wanna play Horizon Zero Dawn, i'd just buy a used copy of the original instead paying $50 for a remake that doesn't need to be remade to begin with.
Sony was selling it for like $10 on Steam recently(ended up 2 weeks ago or so) and gave out for free on subscription at some point on consoles.
There were times in the trailer where I thought the remaster was the original because the original looked better in some places.
This dude is the type to buy a PS5 Pro so he can enjoy the same game with a resolution bump for 820$(disc drive, stand, upgrade).

It really feels like Sony is on the verge of releasing remasters of games that already released on PS5, and I'm half-convinced that the only thing stopping them from actually doing so is the fact that they barely release games anymore.

Here in Russia during 2020 TLOU2 advertisement campain youtubers paid by Sony to promote the game, but not openly advertise it, were asked to call the game ONLY by it's localised name "Одни из нас" (transletes to "The one(plural) of us", or whatever). It may be same thing, so it is not just mindless Sony glazing, but nice side hustle for this dude.
Only good thing to come out of this is the complete edition/original version will be considered abandonware. I think we all know what that means.

Horizon zero got a patch for PS5 that enhanced graphics a bit. It also got a PC port, Why tf would it need a remaster ? Especially on PC where there are mods available that can add better graphics to the game than any remaster possibly could.

Horizon glazers are something else. Other than the visual aspect, the games are mid as hell. Every mechanic they praise has been done already to death by other games, mainly Ubisoft games, Zelda and stuff like shadow of the Colossus, among others. Not a bad franchise but to call it a masterpiece when it has done nothing to move gaming forward is just laughable.

For clarification: there is NOT a native PS5 application for HZD. The PS4 title received a patch that allowed the PS4 PRO (and PS5) hardware to be better utilized.

finally someone who talks about how thing even 'gameplay blemishes' can be intentionally placed there to complement the tone of a game. I've heard way to many people talk shit about dark souls 1 and way to many 'in my opinions' after dark souls 1 that I'm about to go dark souls 2 fanboy. In fact there not fanboys they were just fed up with people talking shit about their favorite game. And placing dark souls 3 movement in dark souls one would completely disrespect the mood of dark souls one. Holding myself out from digging into their favorite games with the same hypocrisy that they did for dark souls 1. At least abyssal woods in elden ring is far worse than izalith. Maybe not if you're talking about the complete experience because bed of chaos but at least the dragon asses are ignorable in the long run not having a lasting impression on the mood and are also quite funny. But the reskinned winter lanterns in the abyssal woods is just sad leaving a lasting impression of disappointment on shadow of the erdtree. It's about the experience not the checkboxes.

I'm still stuck on how to throw a stone at the beginning of forbidden west. I'll eventually look up how to do it, but that's annoying I have to research how to throw a stone.
My biggest problem with Horizon:Zero Dawn was that while it was big and beautiful, there was really nothing to find. You climbed to the top of mount Takalototime and you found an impressive view and... a coffeecup. Thats it. Maybe 1 of 12 batteries you need to unlock the secret suit( dont remember the exact number). The gameplay was fun and I remember enjoying it alot but again when it came time to justify the expanse of the open world there really was nothing there to find in the way of meaningful gameplay.
Playstation is fully embracing the _"Make the players pay for the solution"_ mentality with these Paid for Patches. Because thats what they are, not "remaster upgrades."
Forbidden West was a ps5 exclusive when it got released. It didn't get ported to pc till a year later.

I bought the original HZD on PS4 on launch day. I didn't play it for two weeks. Then I finally got to it, played the opening missions (mostly) said it looked nice, then never played it again.
There was nothing that really enticed me gameplay wise to go back. I may have just been open world fatigued again, but if you can't draw me back in, your experience failed me.
I got Horizon Zero Dawn for like $13 on steam just to try it and it barely runs on my steam deck. The remastered version would nearly double my investment in the game. Not worth it 😆

I'm sooooo glad someone sees the Horizon games like I do. I got to play the first one free on PS Plus and I didn't play it for long. I'm sick of seeing this game everywhere. Of all the games they need to actually remaster they chose one that doesn't need it and no one asked for.
The thing that makes me wonder WTF is that Sony lost a lot of money on projects (Concord) and they are going to rerecord a lot which cost more money. Yet most people that are interested in the game already own it and are going to pay the $10 dollar upgrade fee. Of course there will be people that buy the "new" game at full price but I have a very hard time believing Sony will make a profit on this remaster.

I like HZD. I have it on PC. I have completed it twice. I won't be paying the extra £10 for the remastered version. I don't see the need for it and I don't want to sign into PSN to play a single-player game; I also won't be buying Ragnarok for that reason, and if they retain that policy, I won't be buying Horizon 3 either when it comes out or any other new Sony titles.
so instead of remastering games from the ps1, ps2, ps3 that is not backwards compatible or remastering bloodborne so it can run at 60fps we are getting horizon remaster where the graphics are tweaked a tiny bit, and it has better mocap. I enjoyed the game even if it’s not my typical game type. But I bought it on eBay for $8 just to spite Sony. In reality that makes no sense but there was an odd sense of satisfaction knowing I got the game for so cheap.
