What I love is that the videos are not about him and a personality figure... you rarely see his face and it's not about him... its about the workmanship and the beauty of the timber and the piece! Respect and love his humilty. True master craftsman!
I love his craftsmanship as well, but I see that as him taking pride in his work, not as humility. If he was humble, i.e., if he thought of humiliation as a virtue, he would just do a half ass'd job because he wouldn't want to be excessively impressive. Being humble, humility, and humiliation are not virtuous.
@@dougpridgen9682 humble and humiliation are not the same thing in spite of sharing a root word. His videos are humble, and humility is a virtue in an overwhelming number of philosophical flavors (some religious too if you'd prefer those separated). His craftsmanship is incredible and yet he doesn't plaster his face all over everything or incessantly brag in the form of advice about how he got such a great fit on his joinery, the focus is on the work and not on himself or his expertise. More accurately that should also be attributed to Chie (video work/editing).
I'm a long-time Ishitani fanboy. This guy is so good it hurts. I do a lot of the techniques he does (I've made sliding-door cabinets) but never as good as this. Oh to be this skilled
I really like your videos because you show beautiful techniques to which one can actually relate and learn from. Most other videos from Japan show only Edo Sashimono or Miyadaiku which are almost impossible for most hobbyist, no matter the level, and many Western woodworkers either show contraptions to achieve something without actually studying carpentry or try to show off they can make something "only with hand tools". Your work is no nonsense, with machines where machines make sense and hand finish where that makes sense. I learned a lot of little things from you. Thank you!
In the end it is a rectangular box, but man, look at those gorgeous shelves, and the back panel! And what about those dovetails. You're always killin it guys, both in front and behind the camera.
I so wish you don't stop making these videos you are my inspiration to this craft I keep on learning from you every time I am washing you doing you art. I thank you.
It is always interesting to see that there are people who dislike your videos. What do they 'dislike'? You are not expressing some random view or opinion. Is it the video itself they dislike? The piece of furniture? What? I admire and respect your craftsmanship and talent. This is a beautiful piece. My utmost respect for your skill, patience and commitment to your craft. Thank you for sharing this with us.
The attention to detail. The back panels. Just outstanding. I also love the use of music near the end instead of putting in music all the way through which can detract from the video.
IL Top --- Bravissimo . Hai avuto sicuramente un'ottimo maestro ..... Sono i mobili che piacciono a me .. puliti senza fronzoli .. alto Design -- continua sempre così ..
I was going to say the same Baloni Woodworks...enjoying my coffee, sitting quietly at my desk...no better start to my morning. Ishitani, your work completely relaxes and inspires me. Thank you for sharing!
What a pleasure it is to watch the skill, careful accuracy, attention to detail by a passionate and talented craftsman within such a well made video production. May ISHITANI FURNITURE continue!
I am a beginner in wood working and I have so far got loads of ideas from all your intricate and elegant works. Your videos are highly inspiring and therapeutic. Love from India ❤️
