David Crosby catches up with Kyle Meredith to tell us about For Free, his 5th album in 7 years. The legendary voice talks about the importance of songwriting and music in his life and the optimistic outlook he’s found after living through some very difficult and dark personal times. We also get to hear a lot about his friends and collaborators, including Michael McDonald (“my favorite voice”), Steely Dan (“my favorite band”), Joni Mitchchell (“the best singer songwriter”), and Joan Baez, who’s portrait of Crosby graces the cover of the album. The CSNY member also tells the story of a soldier he met in an airport and the conversation that lead to the song “Shot At Me,” as well his thoughts on if he’ll play live ever again, and the next two albums that are already planned.

David. You are going to live to 150yrs. Glad you have gotten away from CSN. To find & work with with new people. The changes in your life have helped you grow, hear & finish alot of your material. As we age I think we hear new possibilities for musical direction. Proof that we absolutely always growing. Love your new CDs. Yea, great world. I feel there is nothing about the human race that is worth historically preserving. Except perhaps Music. Lost my faith. This species keep making the same mistakes & never learns. what paradise? He stated heaven is overrated just 24 hrs before his sudden death. To make such a claim he would have had to been in heaven to actually know it is it overrated or not.

The old vrs. The new?? Well the world found itself quiet and spending time figuring out the future of music.. Crosby was what the old school thinkers just put on vinyl.. It was a different kind of anger. It was like putting a CSNY song on and finding a piece of the missing puzzle..

Morrison a good song??! It's a really creepy song and an embarrassment to have even contemplated recording. Seems a lot of enduring, unhealthy jealousy and envy there. Jim was in an artistic stratosphere that was unattainable for Crosby obviously. Instantly makes a redeeming gesture with high praise for Steely Dan though.
