    Thanks Paul great review, I don't believe you should alter your banked lane testing of lane assist systems for any manufacturers. I think the testing you provide is some of the best in the world. Yes even the reverse speed test. Please continue the exploratory service and advice you provide forever a fan!

    • @marcuscrawford7212
      @marcuscrawford7212 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I agree - VW made their point about the banked lane and Paul was fair, in that he gave them the right of reply but VW need to learn that not everyone in the world complies with the world's best practice in road design and engineering and that not everyone in the world is fortunate enough to drive on German designed roads. VW sell cars in a variety of different market and the lane 3 banked lane test is a plausible "real world" testing condition that does happen, and all manufacturers should be striving for success in these types of conditions rather than resorting to disassembling and denial. Eventually, VW will be able to pass that test and then after that some of the other less reputable manufacturers will as well, it will be a healthy sign of a car industry on the path to continuous improvement.

    It's weird to see that the cheap modes still get analogue controls for the volume, which I prefer any day to all-touch, it feels way better and is easier to use while driving.
    I guess it's just a very premium thing not being able to blindly set your volume...

  • @nealphore

    Great review Paul and team. I've got nothing against VW, but for them to have an excuse not to have their cars tested like all other cars is just adding to their already fragile image. I honestly wouldn't divert from testing their cars as per usual. If ever their systems improve then they want to dictate that their cars be tested in the same way again, or what?

    I bought the R-line T-Roc in the UK 1 week ago.
    Ascot grey body with black roof, full black pack (all trim black), black alloys, carbon fibre effect on rear quarter etc.
    I love it but the chip shortages meant I couldn’t get the vertical lights in the bumper or blind spot monitoring….there are some other things you can’t get too but apparently they lowered the price to reflect this.
    I payed 36k in uk pounds all in 20% tax included.
    Also they told me it could take 12 months to be delivered, it took 4 months

    I bought the previous model T-Roc 2L R Line. More than a year old now and I love it. On Eco mode I can easily get 6l/100km consumption. My only gripe is that VW South Africa could have delayed the pre-facelift (which was launched last year)model and introduce the model with this facelift. Due to the chip shortage last year I do not have the iQ drive big package but I love the car and people are amazed with the performance. Great review! just picked up mine yesterday down in South Africa, Kings Red R line 2.0 4 motion, took it for a 700km drive straight off the bat and got the consumption per L to 6.8 on long-term driving 110km to 120km per H. overall nice drive comfortable on a long trip, decent power did not open up the engine up to much just yet due to being brand, love the pan sunroof lets a lot of light in the only downside is boot size for trips, filled up a full tank and able to get over 800km.

    Great review Paul. I have a brand new T Roc Style version, which I chose over the R Line because it has real buttons on the steering wheel instead of the horrible haptic feedback ones. I find the T Roc to be a fabulous car - just the right size - not too big, not too small. It also has excellent driving dynamics for an SUV (feels like a larger Golf). My only gripe is the silly slider control for the airconditioning. The sooner VW brings back physical knobs and buttons for basic functions, the better.

      @oz_tt2252 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The R has the adjustable dampers. Drove one and it was fine in normal mode and even softer in comfort. The car Paul drove had the black pack which has 19" wheels and adjustable dampers, standard they come with 18"s and fixed rates dampers which are a bit firm, but we still bought one.

    Mate, have you tested the new 110TSI model? Just bought one a few weeks ago and finding it to be a fantastic car. Has a bigger boot than the R-Line as well since it's only FWD. I bought one with the Leather pack and sunroof and was lucky the blindspot monitoring etc was included. It drives beautifully, has an 8 speed torque converter transmission instead of a DCT and doesn't have the haptic feedback buttons the R-Line does either :)

    Why wait until the next gen to do away with the touch buttons??? Why not deal with it immediately!😊

    If not for the haptic touch in the steering wheel and climate control. I would have bought the top spec Troc Rline, a couple of months ago.
    Hope VW will move away from this silly feature and reinstate the physical buttons, soon.

    I'd rather a Tiguan 162 tsi Elegance or R line. For about $10,000 more.

    Sat in one in an uber, worst suspension setup ever for a car to be driven in australia, not to mention the poor NVH!
