    I used the low block 433 against a 3 CB team in Serie B and it worked like gangbusters, I won 4-1. These type of videos are great and I feel like I learn so much more. I love the simple instructions of "if they have great WB's do this, or if not do that" type of thing. It's a simple way to learn tactics and gives us something specific to watch for. Thanks and I look forward to more!

    • @coachroan
      @coachroan  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, happy you enjoyed the video! The 433 with 2 Segundo Volante's leaves a lot of space between their attack and their midfield, so I would look to use a quality defensive mid as a playmaker, and then use fast attackers to get in behind their defence, where the DM can ping through balls over their defence.

      What I would say, is that a tactic is only as good as the players playing it. If you keep losing with multiple different formations, I would advice you to look deeper into your squad and where their talents lie, to then build your tactics to utilize those strenghts. I like to use a back 3 on my teams, and it doesn't matter what I do, I always get scored when the other team throws long balls. The 3 central defenders make so many mistakes it's unbelievable. In my current save I have a back 3 with Thiaw, Scalvini and Ajer (3 years into the save, so they are pretty good) and even with those names, they don't know how to follow ONE striker. Idk if it is a problem with the IA or what, but it's frustrating. I changed formation and used some of your tips and they actually work, it's pretty cool to win against a 4-3-3 just by making them tired themselves lol

      Glad to hear you enjoyed it. The reason why I chose not to incorporate in game examples was to not focus on these particular tactics, as they are truly just examples. The important thing I wanted to emphasize was the tactical insight to understand how these formations worked, so you can then build/tweak your own tactic with that knowledge. I play a 5-3-2 with 6 units on attack and it works at all levels, from amateur to pro, and its an amazing underdog tactic. Everyone defends , everyone attacks, with a DLF and an AF, you can often see the DLF go help defend in the wings if needed, and a CB go wide to support the wingbacks and even cross if technically gifted. Generally, wingers cant defend or lack the mental attributes to make significant defensive contributions, hence, Mezzalas > Wingers. Most of the weaknesses pointed out on a 3 CB system pointed out on this video are negated by simply having a DLP on DM position or just a regular DM. its almost like having 4 CB or 3 CB and a BPD in front of them. The only real weakness is luck from set pieces and switch up plays really, I even invite the opposition to cross, so my CB's can head the ball to the DLP and initiate an immediate deadly counter , if the opponents are better or really fast up front, just drop the line and watch Counter-attack magic. From experience, which is subjective I must add, the central space right in front of defence is the most crucial area to control on FM23, the team that does it better, has the highest chance of winning the match, 2 strikers also works better than lonely striker. if you're interested in checking it out Coach Roan, i'd love to see what you think of it, I could send you the tactic file somewhere if you find the time. Good job on both the video and dissecting all the strengths and weaknesses of the popular formations. Last thing to add is, even if the tactics do work, teams that switch tactics often will struggle with tactical familiarity, so even if it makes sense on paper, the execution may fail because of this.

    Could you please help me with tactics?
    I play 4-1-2-2-1 DM Wide.
    I have a Cautious mentality.
    I have Regroup when lost ball.
    I have Low Block, Much Lower defence line, Much Less often trigger press, and Drop off in out of possession.
    I play with CD-De and W-De from each side, defs have no any traits at all.
    No tighter marking, as rare pressing as possible.
    But my defs always try to press and that's where I concede most of the goals. What can I do to stop them to run forward?

    • @coachroan
      @coachroan  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Where on the field are your players pressing the opposition, and how is it exactly costing you goals? It's difficult to say without seeing the tactic in action, but even with these cautious tactics your players will at some point try and win the ball if they think they can get it, so perhaps your players simply don't have the defensive quality to stay solid in a tactic like this

And don't worry, especially if you're just starting out the game can be very challenging. I think everyone started out with a lot of losses and even a sacking or two. You just have to learn from every loss, gather as much information from videos and blogs etc., and before you know it you'll be winning trophies left right and center!

    Really liked the concept of the video, but not the execution.
    All your tactics miss something that it's pretty fundamental to FM tactic building, some miss forward movement partnerships with your striker, some miss defensive pressure on the flanks, some lack solidity, some are flat out too risky etc.

      The tactics provided in the video are meant as truly example tactics trying to highlight the tactical principle in question, they're not meant to be fully optimized ready to use tactics.
